How to map controller knob to note transposition?
I have a MIDI controller with assignable “endless” knobs that I’d like to assign to some of the basic Renoise features. Ideally I’d like to have one knob that transposes the selected note up or down, one that adjusts its volume, one for pan, etc.
Is this functionality builtin to Renoise? I don’t see it in the MIDI Mapping section. Is it something that needs to be scripted?

The pattern, the editbar, the selection and the bad behaviour
Hello together!
I ever and ever stuck again in same not good behaviour between pattern editing. The Selection are lay down under the editbar. It’s simply not a good Gui/Workflow behaviour. It overloads the edit position with not needed information and lowered the visibility in some cases addicted to selected theme. I tested all Gui config options for pattern edit. i dont get this behaviour disabled. Is there a way oder a Tool maybe? I would prefer set the selection only if i press a key with the mouseclick. Then you could jump/navigate to edit position easely with a single click and can edit in clear and simple way over the editbar. Especially for long patterns this would very usefull. What you think about this? The single Note drag & drop fails often anyway, then better this should seperated in some way.

A Few Points To Consider
Somewhat recent I was at KVR & just happened to mention that if a person was DEMOing a commercial plug you might as well record some samples for personal use…
Well, several members jumped on me like I was the biggest piece-o-shitz in the cosmos & one said that “If I were a Moderator I’d BAN you so fast it would make your F%@#King head spin!”…Oh really? Just because you are pissed?
My response was…UHHHhh…Well, you know the movie ‘Deliverance’ don’t you? They had a hard time trying to find an actor who would have their two front teeth pulled for the second rapist hillbilly…However they discovered Herbert Coward who already had 'em missing through Burt Reynolds. So on the phone with Coward they stated frankly “You know that in your role as a rapist hillbilly you’ll be simulating the rape of a MAN”…His response was “I’VE DONE WORSE!”…
So my response was basically THAT…“I’ve done worse”. Now THIS IS THE CATCH!!
It appears that nobody knows how to debate or even wants to engage in it!!
I lay down the argument that many, MANY desktop musicians have created & rendered out FULL COMPOSITIONS using DEMO plugs…That’s like a big long single sample!
For the second round much more to add I state that many…MANY youtube channels record & publish videos of DEMO plugs, uploaded for all to see on channels that are MONETIZED!!..Yes, money made on these and since money made there is legal right for compensation…
Yet, of course, these subjects are avoided as there are no responses for them…
Nope, back to me being a piece-o-shitz…
During this I was mentioning Tone2’s seek-n-destroy of blacklisted keys & other facets of their products then Krause himself comes on & denies it as being ‘spyware’…Well, if it’s looking about your machine for ANYTHING, it’s SPYWARE!
He then states he’s putting in a request to have me banned, etc…Well, it didn’t work and for someone LIKE ME a developer making enemies with me, well, I won’t say anything HERE, leave it to your imagination…Tone2 has become my new hobby…I see their products in a ‘whole new light’…
The point of this is not the particulars…I don’t care, If I HAD been banned I could just come on again under new email-username…And all the pertinent posts have been wiped out in the thread by admins…
Fact remains…I am lowest for considering making samples from demo plug for personal use only whilst everyday tons of others make money using same plug, that THEY have not purchased, in a video, published for all to see, on their monetized channel…

How do Optimization of an Instrument?
I really dig Synth String Thing, by Danoise Deccan, but every time I try and do anything fancy my computers CPU gets bogged down and a dialog box pops up that says “The audio engine was stopped because it used too much CPU for quite a long time. Note: You can disable this behavior in the audio preferences pane…”
Is there a way of optimizing the instrument so it runs better?

U-he Zebra 3 announcement
Urs Heckmann of U-he made an announcement on KVR that the long awaited, long anticipated Zebra 3 is not too far off. Zebra 3 and Zebra Legacy - u-he Forum - KVR Audio
His post has a lot of interesting information in it. While still at least a year off, U-he is offering some pretty good incentive deals for those who own the Zebra2 and Dark Zebra as well. It appears there may also be a Zebralette 3 released for user feedback too.

VstHost for a single instrument
This is just WishLand stuff to be sure. I’m doing sound designing with U-he’s Zebra2 and Dark Zebra currently. I would dearly love to see a Linux vsthost similar to Hermann Seib’s vsthost for windows: VSTHost
Just a keyboard and no frills. I’ve looked all over and simply haven’t found anything that doesn’t either require WINE or loads a ton of libraries (Carla) onto my OS.

I can’t seem to find any tutorials on how to do this…
Anybody with the knowledge to help?

MIDI Export (yet again)
I know this has ben mentioned before (I think it is quite worth another post, especially after all this time of pretty much nothing done)… but seriously we really really need midi export that can produce midis usable for MS GM, XG, MT32, ect. So many users would benfit from this, the tool that exists simply does not cut it - we need more support for program changes and ccs and other stuffs. The framework is all there, we have the inst. midi control effect that does wonders with vst control. All we need is for those to be exported. I love everything else about Renoise, but in this it falls short. Like I’ve said here before, OpenMPT does better at midi export… and it’s not even a proper daw like Renoise is. Midi support for the people, I say!!! I really hope we get midi export with the next release, this is what I am paying for. I don’t have a lot of income but I would quite seriously pay what little I have to make this happen. I’m sure there are users who are on the fence that would join the Renoise fever with this added in. (This is a hill I am willing to die on.)
Besides midi files, this would be very useful for working with others who use other DAWs.
of note, this is also quite important, I have hit it when using the edirol orchestral vst:

Small midi timing issue on Windows 11 with DirectSound, R3.4.2
I’ve attached a demo song. Just play it through all 4 patterm’s. When it jumps back to the first pattern, its missing the timing of one of the notes. Only happens with Directsound driver. ASIO and WASAPI are working fine or its atleast not reproducible with this test song.
VST Cthulu is needed.
Audio settings:
midi_timming.xrns (7.3 KB)

Linux as webdev workhorse machine - A complete mess?
This is purely subjective. I was thinking about using Linux as main os at some point. Back in the days, the problem I had with it mainly were compatibility and availability issues of software. But nowadays, Linux seems to me a total mess.
I am using Ubuntu with a Lenovo notebook at work. Neither browsers work stable (tons of memory leaks), nor the OS. Very often new “security” updates will destroy the amd display driver, or break something else. Then it is full of bugs, which never seem to be fixed. The graphical performance is pretty bad, it just can’t handle any 4k resolution properly. I actually hate how much time is wasted by fixing Ubuntu all the time.
The only positive I found is the raw performance when it comes to terminal commandos like Docker. This indeed works quite fast. Though recent updates on macos/m1 seem to be faster here already (if the docker container is ported to m1, which now is the case for most stuff).
So it seems to me that the quality of Linux drastically was lowered in the last years. When I tried Linux years ago, at least the graphics were very snappy all the time.
Is this a wrong impression? Is there some other derivate Linux which is more “business-compatible” than Ubuntu? I use that standard desktop manager of Ubuntu, should I switch it? Will then the amd drivers still work? Chrome seems to be a total mess as Linux version, is Firefox any better? Is there a proper email client?

And what moderator decided to delete the post thereafter?
I created a post with new exclusive material.
The post got marked as spam and deleted.
I deleted ChordLord from the tools section as answer.
I want the moderator to delete any existing copy of the .xrnx tool on the forum.

Buzz like view of dsp effects/plugins and even sample modulations
I’ve seen old thread from 2011, but despite this i would like to hear people’s thoughts on such idea.
And yeah, this is the only thing i like in Buzz, everything else is better in Renoise for sure.
I think that such approach will ease song creation and increase ergonomics tremendously.
What’s your opinion on that?

Automating filters in Akai S2000?
Hi
I can automate LFO1, Pitchbend & Program Change on my Akai S2000 through Renoise, but cannot get the amazing deep filter to be automated ?
Is there a way ?
I see Daddyabe did one on the S3000XL but not the S2000. Ive never been able to find the breath control or modwheel midi commands in any DAW ive used strangely.
Can anyone help ?
Cheers
