Q: How do I access the Advanced Pattern Editor functionality via LUA?
Hello.
I can not find the Renoise.app() code for the Advanced Pattern Editor in Lua.
@taktik can you please tell me where to find the function()
I’ve searched the Renoise LUA api documentation for “hum” to find access to the humanize.
The tool is attached below but does not do anything.

New I.D. Crisis demo - The Watcher
Hi folks - new demo from me, called The Watcher.
As usual, I wrote it using my headphones and it sounds pretty fine through them - sounds a lot worse when I listen on Mac internal speakers though. Probably needs a bit more mixing and fettling. Let me know what you think. Cheers - I.D. Crisis

Timing Jitter Feature for Sampler
I recently purchased TAL-Drum, and one nice feature it has is adjustable timing jitter:
This randomises the trigger timing by a set amount, which when combined with the “Analog” pitch randomisation, really goes a long way to give a subtle amount of humanisation to grid programmed rhythms.
I usually do something like this for pitch randomisation:
… but as far as I can tell there isn’t an easy way to achieve slight timing randomisation. To get something close, I usually use the Humanise modifier on the Delay column:
… but this is often inconvenient when you’re in the thick of the tracking process, because you need to be careful to always include the randomised Delay value when you’re moving / delete / creating notes. If it could be something which is always happening in the background on a per-instrument basis, that would be much more convenient. (Or possibly even something you set together with the Global Groove settings - although that’s maybe not as useful as this being a selective effect).
I think this would be a really useful feature for those times when you want to introduce a bit of “slop” to complement the strict grid timing of a tracker.

Random Theme Option
It’d be neat if there was a check box under settings for selecting a random theme every time Renoise was opened. Not really mandatory, I know, I just like changing the theme every so often and I think it does spark creativity nonetheless.
Also what is your favorite theme?

ReWire Replacement for MacOS?
Since ReWire is dead (and as such, not compatible with ARM based Macs) does anyone know of any plugins or other software that could route audio from and sync Renoise to other applications? I tried to get Jack working but from my understanding Renoise only supports Jack on Linux versions.
I’m looking to link up Renoise and Logic X.

Changing BPM with mouse, cursor hits top of screen
When changing the BPM by dragging it with mouse, the mouse cursor hits the top of the screen and stops so you have to do it multiple times if you want to drag BPM up more than ~10 beats, this is with Renoise 3.4.1-3.4.2 at least, but in Renoise 3.3.2 it works the way it’s supposed (imo) to work, so when you drag it, the mouse cursor disappears and you can drag it as far up as you wish

How do i create phrase from track to selected instrument
Hi everyone, this may be silly question but:
how does one create phrase from selection to existing/selected instrument (default behavior is that phrase is created in duplicated instrument). Can we have at least alias instrument - or ability to create phrase to already selected/playing instrument, rather than new one?
i understand that sometimes it makes more to have new instrument, so the original arrangement is not messed up, but it would be good to have ability to:
- create phrase to selected instrument (and replace source selection/track in pattern with single note which will then trigger newly created phase)
maybe this would be good workflow improvement. What are your opinions?
Thanks

Velocity Tracker - Pattern & Phrase Values Not Combined Without Phrase Note
https://www.youtube.com/embed/0rhP1aZOHLU
When a phrase is played from the Pattern Editor with a velocity value this is combined with velocity values from the phrase. The Velocity Tracker correctly receives an input from this as long as the phrase velocities are accompanied by a note. Without notes though, the combination is ignored and only the phrase values are used.

Trouble with ReWire between Logic Pro X and Renoise
For the past couple days I’ve been doing my best to trouble shoot this by digging through old threads here relating to rewire. I’ve tried multiple different applications with Renoise trying to accomplish any rewire connection at all. It seems like Renoise is having trouble detecting other programs.
I’m using an M1 mac laptop with the most recent OS. My goal is to have Renoise function as a ReWire slave and route audio into Logic. I’ve gone through my security settings and given every permission to Renoise that it was requesting, and the same with Logic. I’ve tried both ReWire modes in Logic, and I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled both applications. Both are running their most recent versions.
I feel like I’m missing something. I’m launching Logic first and creating a song, and then I launch Renoise and the usual ReWire slave popup isn’t showing up. Do I need to download something else for ReWire to function? Is there a settings area in Renoise I’m missing where ReWire could be disabled? Is anyone else experiencing an issue like this with M1 Macs?
Any help is appreciated.

Mute and Solo Automation?
Hello guys
I am trying to do automation on some tracks (Solo one track while all others are muted)… Do you have any idea how to automate clicking ON/OFF/MUTE in Mixer or there is other way? I simply want to avoid clicking OFF to all tracks except one I want to be heard, and I often do it manually. There might be a command for that? Script? Shortcut?
Thanx

Crash when auto-slicing a sample slice
Description:
Renoise crashes when I try to auto-slice an existing sample slice. I’m using Renoise 3.4.1 on macOS Catalina, though I have been noticing this problem for a while.
Steps to reproduce look like this:
- Load a sample
- Make at least one slice
- Select the slice in the slice list
- Auto-slice using the keyboard shortcut (by default, Cmd-J or Ctrl-J). The auto-slice button is disabled inside of slices so this is the only way to do it.
- If Renoise hasn’t crashed yet, try undoing
Expected results:
Renoise claims it will delete all other sample slots and slice the current one.
Actual results:
Usually Renoise crashes. Sometimes it slices as expected and then crashes when I undo.

Glitchy track DSP display after restoring A/B presets
Description:
When I restore an A/B preset on certain plugins, I get a glitchy display on the track DSP UI. Showing then hiding the parameter sliders fixes it. I’m using Renoise 3.4.1 on macOS Catalina.
Steps to reproduce look like this:
- Load CHOWTapeModel VST3 (a free plugin, as an example. I have noted the same problem with other VST3s and AUs)
- Save and restore an A/B preset
Expected results:
Actual results:
