Comprehensive Tutorials sought
Hi Folks,
Could someone point me in the direction of comprehensive videos to help me learn Renoise?
The ones out there are pretty basic; any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Track dsp effect device chains that offer instant attack/gating rather than ramped?
A while back I created a device chain that partly used the gate device and 1.400ms of track delay to get nearly sample perfect instant attack, which overall seemed like a bit of a hack. The purpose was to be able to generate very percussive sounds out of just about any sample, where the instant attack is imperative.
It isn’t a situation where I can use the instrument AHDSR since my purpose requires track based fx, not instrument chain. (this is where most users realize instant changes aren’t possible with the LFO device since there’s always a one-tick ramp at the beginning).
I was reading a thread recently about the signal follower device and its “lookahead” setting, so I’ll be trying that next, but what are some other solutions for track based native fx that can create instant changes that aren’t uncontrollably ramped?

Scratching effect using track pad?
I have never built a tool and have no background in coding.
Wondering if anyone has thought to build a formula device that would allow the trackpad to manipulate the cursor to speed up/slowdown/pause playback…?
I saw Nags built a tutorial for scratching in '07 but got some 404 responses when I attempted to click through.
I’d like to step up and teach myself how to build tools for Renoise using LUA this year. I know that the first thing you need is a “proper use case”.
anyhow, peace to all Renoise users on a global scale

Multitap Delay On/Off on Edit?
I thought that there was a way to turn Effects on and off and use sliders and have those recorded into the Edit track? I thought it was right click or something similar, and turn things on and off as the track is being played; do I have to add something else for that to work?
Thanks in advance.

Beat-synced LFO Doofer
I spent a bunch of time reading through the forum trying to find a good solution for having a classic kickstart/lfotool style doofer to get simple ducking/side chaining.
I found a few options but all of them are relatively awkward because you cannot easily reset the lfo via a doofer parameter and I didn’t want to go for a key trigger approach where I need to have a dummy track.
So instead I hacked together a slightly different option where rather than trying to carefully control resetting back to the start, I use a formula device to control the position in the LFO fully. This also has the advantage that it automatically synchronizes if you change your LBP.

Midi + Uno Synth Pro
Hello!
I have a problem with Renoise and my Uno Synth Pro:
The synth is midi-slave of Renoise and it works, but I can’t choose the program number 129 and +.
In the output device menu of Renoise, the program number is 0 → 128. I try to modify the bank, the mode, the midi cable / usb cable, but nothing changes. I can’t select the program 129 and beyond.
Can you help me?
Thanks a lot!

Tool Idea (Multiple sample grabber)
Would it be possible, if i have a pattern playing which uses a multitude of different samples, single samples and samples from within different instrument kits,to build a tool which locates all the different samples playing in that pattern, to pick them out and generate a new instrument kit which contains all the samples playing within that pattern?

CDP Tool Mac Error: Output file was not produced
Any help would be appreciated. I am running Sierra 10.12 on Renoise 3.2.
I have tried going thru all the possible errors listed in the install pdf (using .wav files, checked that the hidden files for cdp and soundloom, deactivated gatekeeper) and… still… I get this error message. I also read that if you open an empty sample in the samples or instruments that could also help (a possible glitch) but I am still getting no results…
Any suggestions out there? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

[tool idea] extract automation envelope from sample waveform
I vaguely remember an old Renoise tool that did this(?)…but in Ableton or Fl Studio (can’t find the youtube video real quick) there is a way to extract the shape of your waveform into the automation editor, so you can for example invert it to have a wet parameter ramp up when the amplitude of a sound goes down and/or apply further manipulation.
Very crude example , extract the valleys and peaks from;
And have it look something like this in the automation editor, either being visual for the exact time length of the sample or stretched all across ;
Someone remember the Renoise script which could do this, or an able scripter can help out?
ps; I know about the signal follower, but need a more hardcoded, visual approach for cool editing options this can offer.

FX chain save/load bug
Some plugins do not save their state (or restore) when fx chain is saved and then load again.
For example 2B Warble. It saves parameters good with project, but not as part of fx chain if I want to save it and load into another project.

(Speed Beach | second heat (Synthwave, Retrowave, Retroheat) - YouTube)
so after learning more about mixing i definetly can tell how badly mixed my last track was, open to more discussion on what is wrong and needs to addressed in the new track, hope you like it, its a bit different from the last two songs i made in renoise

Simple tool request
Ok so this is a bit cheeky but can anyone out there build a simple tool for me,basically what im looking for is a little tool that lets me select a range in the instrument list for example 10 - 2F and when i have a sample or samples selected in the pattern editor and load the tool i can just press a button and it shifts all selected samples incrementally between this range starting from 10 and finishes at 2F. Maybe there is already a way to do this other than manually typing each instrument hex number in?
So basically when multiple samples are selected,i can just set a range and each time i press the button it changes all the samples to the first hex number in the range i set, press again and they shift to the second hex number and so on.

Envelope follower instant attack
The attack on the evelope-signal follower is NEVER instant ,even when set to 0ms
And for some reason the lookahead is greyed out

Comparator Formula
Howdy there
Perhaps you might find this useful. Input is compared against Threshold, Output is 1.0 when Input is greater than or equal to Threshold, Output is 0.0 when Input is less than Threshold

Harsh Noise Instrument ideas?
any thoughts on how one would assemble a harsh noise instrument in renoise?

Pops and Clicks in the sampler
I’ve been noticing some really loud pops and clicks in some of my Renoise instruments that I can’t seem to tame with volume envelopes, the “fade-in” button in the sample options, or manually creating a fade-in in the sample editor. These clicks appear both in live playback and in rendered tracks.
My playback settings are fine. Plugin instruments sound fine. The pops only seem to happen at the start of a note, and are more apparent at lower pitches.
Here’s an example song. I’ve rendered part of the song to the second instrument where you can clearly hear the popping.

Scale locking within phrase editor
The scale locking feature in renoise is fantastic, however there is one thing that really bugs the shit out of me.When making a phrase with scale lock on,renoise allows you to input notes that are not within the scale,i am aware that these outside notes are still transposed to the given scale but there is imo a better system.Maybe only allow notes to be input within the chosen scale, then afterwards if the user feels like it they can input blue notes by switching the scale lock off.And the phrase does not transpose the outside notes?Maybe if people still want this feature add a button or whatever to switch between these two different modes of scale locking?
