Effects applied to one VST across different tracks affect all tracks
I like to have my different drum hits on different tracks, with a dedicated track for kick, snare, hh, etc. I often will use the same VST across all those tracks.
When I apply an effect to the SNARE track, it seems to get applied to all of the sounds coming from that VST, no matter what track they’re on.
Is this a known issue?

How are people embedding Bandcamp links?
I’m having trouble embedding the Bandcamp player where all I get is an empty box where I guess the iframe should be. For a bit I thought that maybe that action was restricted, but I see other users successfully embedding their tracks and albums in post.
What’s the trick?

Binding a hotkey to a preference setting
Hi! I’d really like to bind a key to turning midi velocities on and off in preferences. It’s a thing I need to do pretty frequently but I can’t see it in the list of actions you can bind a key to.
Is there any alternative approach to this which would work?

Making music videos in Blender
I have been using Blender for a while now and i think it’s a fantastic piece of software that just keeps getting better and better. My goal is to be able to make some tutorials especially directed to Renoise users, different techniques to make animations react to your music without too much effort.
First i will try to make something similar to this:

Does any of you have a request to what they want me to make as a tutorial?
A banging cat perhaps? Or a spacship in outer space? Logo animations? Abstract animations?

Some trouble with the restart zero point wave
How do I process external gear with Renoise fx and no echo?
Hey there!
I’ve been using my record player through my 2i2 audio interface for the last 5 years or so and processing it live through a Renoise FX chain with EQ and an amp vst. Anyway, it wasn’t until recently that I noticed there was an echo when using record mode, monitoring the output, and telling it to route to track 1 where I have my effects. Is there a way to only have the wet output signal so I don’t have the dry echoing in the background? Or is there maybe a better way to go about this? Thanks!

Renoise Should Sell the Business
Dear Renoise,
I’ve owned your software since the release of version 3 and have witnessed its neglect.
I’m asking you to consider the future potential for trackers and where/how you fit in. I think it would be best to be proactive about it and actually recruit some talent to scale the business,.or sell it.
Doing little to nothing is a slow death for the software
Cheers,

Renoise error while loading a song.xml
Hello, dear friends
I encountered this error for the first time while working in Renoise.
Does any body know how to fix this issue? The song is not opening due to this error.
( Failed to parse the XML file ‘%file_path%/song.xml’ )

Released my first VST3 plugin / beta testers needed
Hi all!
Just released my first plugin, and since I’m mostly a Renoise user, and all of the demo material is in Renoise format, I thought I’d post it here. I’d be very grateful if anyone of you would be willing to test the plugin, just let me know all the wrinkles I’d have to fix. The project’s over here: GitHub - sjoerdvankreel/seven: An open source VST3 synthesizer and effect plugin.. Just to get an idea of what it can do, the demo track is made using only Renoise and this plugin, no external stuff required: seven/the_demo_track.mp3 at master · sjoerdvankreel/seven · GitHub or https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sjoerdvankreel/seven/master/render/the_demo_track.mp3.
I hope you’ll find it useful.
-regards, Sjoerd

Would anybody be interested in swapping (my) copy of Renoise for (your) copy of Redux?
Auto Gain enable for *.xm, *.it, *.mod
When I open a tracker file like *.xm, *.it, *.mod etc.
Is there any way to enable Auto Gain automatically?
As it is, the playback sound clips.
I have set and saved the auto-gain in Template Song, but it does not seem to be reflected in this case.
I could not find the relevant key bind target or Renoise Tool.

Preview notes when using commands
As I understood when using commands like (Reverse and Sample offset) there is no way to hear those effects combined with the notes when playing them by keyboard , other than playing the pattern .anyway to fix this ?

Reverse sample offset when using the reverse sample command?
Whenever I use the sample offset command (-S XX) while using the reverse command (-B or -B 00), why not have it so that the sample offset goes in reverse (from FF to 00) instead of treating it like it’s a different sample and have it from 00 to FF like it was going forwards?
It would be much more intuitive to have it like that because when you look in the sample editor while playing, the cursor position for the sample indicates the position of the sample offset command and when it was playing backwards, you see the markers stay the same. It would make more precise editing with the samples involving the reverse sample command a lot more easier than to guess where it’s going to be in reverse yourself or try to do some hexadecimal calculation.
If this way does get implemented and if there are some people who are used to this way of reversing samples or prefer it that way, maybe have an option so that it can be reverted to the classic way of dealing with sample offsets with the reverse command? I don’t know if there are people who got used to it this way and prefer it. Maybe it would certainly be helpful for better compatibility with older songs where if a newer version of Renoise implements the new way of dealing with sample offset and reverse sample commands, if it opens the song from the older version, it would have it set so that classic option in the song options for it so it doesn’t mess the song up if it uses the reverse and sample offset command at the same time.

Slow IDM/Breakcore, with Full XRNS
Hi All,
I go by the name of Felix Helix, and this is the most recent track I made, called Template 2.
I work mostly in Renoise, mixing and mastering in REAPER. Have done for years now.
I thought it would be interesting for the forum, because the XRNS prior to mixdown in reaper hasn’t got any VST instruments in it.
XRNS is here: WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free
The final product is here: Felix Helix- Template 2 - YouTube
Let me know what you think!

Neurodiversity, option-paralysis & procrastination (Personal post - seeking some wisdom - LONG POST)
Hello gang.
Personal post, I don’t really have too many friends - those I do have probably don’t have time or the inclination to hear me ramble on. Of course, nobody here might either - but at least anonymously through the screen I don’t need to see the boredom, or worse - pity, in people’s eyes.
I might be autistic, I’ve had a proper assessment via my employer - waiting for the NHS (UK resident here, the wait times are insane) to do the same tests etc. Of a possible “score” of 45/50 for likeliness of Autism Spectrum Disorder following interview. At almost 40 years old, it’s a little late in the day but explains a lot. I’m definitely Borderline Personality Disorder. Chronic depressive and anxiety sufferer.
I procrastinate a lot. Like, a lot. When I am presented with myriad options, my brain seizes up into paralysis and I just default to comforting activities or I shut down and stare at the wall until things settle down. I am also horrendous with money and I am in a good old chunk of debt. Close to £30k. I have nothing to show for it. I am very prone to deep obsessions and with a good credit rating, I buy things I don’t need to “participate” in said interests. I buy things, sell them for a loss, buy them again, sell for a loss, buy them again etc. The pattern extends, of course, to Audio software. I currently own three DAWs, I just bought Bitwig on credit. I haven’t even started to use it, like I’ve installed it and configured the audio and plugin paths - listened to a demo project.
I have already listed it on eBay.
Since May 2020 when I made the decision to get into this all again, I’ve owned Bitwig twice (third time now), Renoise twice, Reason 12 three times, Cubase twice, Reaper and Studio One once. This is just one hobby I treat like this. When it comes to consoles and console gaming, the pattern is identical. This is a deep shame.
I have been flipping between Windows 11 and Linux - no lie, in the last week I have wiped my system, installed Manjaro, set it all up, installed a VM, created a Windows 10 VM and created a bootable W11 memory stick, moved back to windows, set everything up and then wiped it, installed Manjaro… no lie 5 times. Since the start of THIS year I have done this 10 or 11 times. I’ve destroyed all my memory sticks, ordered new ones, done the cycle, had to explain all the memory sticks to my wife (lol) asked her to hide it - then in secret scoured the house and done the cycle anew. I’m on my 5th PC case of the last 6 months, chasing quite what I do not know, I just keep buying them to “upgrade”.
I have also got a bit paranoid about privacy, I’ve thrown money away by developing a sudden hatred of DRM like iLok - so I contacted all the companies whose software I have bought and insisted that they delete my accounts and licences. My £99 copy of Decapitator? Gone. A few Softube, Izotope plugins - like dust in the winds of history. I sent an awful email to iLok and now that account itself and all licences are gone. The privacy concerns drive me off Windows (even though it works wonderfully for me) and to Linux. I feel out of my depth with Linux and so back to Windows I go.
I’m pretty broken mentally right now. Signed off sick from work. Adrift in the limbo of the health system. My physical health is similarly poor, flared right up by the mental health - fibromyalgia (chronic joint pain, fatigue, memory issues etc.) - so it’s a shitty loop.
This is all so way off topic, what began as an idea to try to reduce option paralysis has devolved into an outpouring of mental shit. I had intended to narrow the option paralysis by seeking advice re: the best DAW to keep out of the options at hand. Maybe just give away my copy of Renoise to somebody for the hell of it, except the cycle of trying to discipline myself through harming myself financially as a deterrent hasn’t ever worked. I can’t hold myself accountable at all. When I came back to making music as a therapeutic solution to long, long-standing mental health issues it was supposed to be breezy and light and a creative outlet. Like so many hobbies, I have ruined it.
I should probably post this on a Neurodiversity support forum, but without a “formal” diagnosis I feel like a fraud - the impostor syndrome is real and I’d worry about being judged for the excessive nerdiness of my current manifestations of this issue.
I should probably delete this. Or ask the mods to permaban me for the shame of it. What the fuck am I even doing.
Time to install Manjaro (again).
