First track using Renoise (braindance?)
Hello, I’m new to Renoise. I was initially very intimidated by the interface but I wish I’d tried it sooner, it’s just such a great fit for me, I’m in love with it now!

Linux Crash Reporting Bug
Currently on Linux with Renoise 3.3.2 if the program crashes it is creating crash dumps in the user’s home folder with what appears to be random unicode file and folder names.
For instance on the last crash (having some trouble with new u-he plugin builds and in-plugin-dialogs) the folder was labelled “ힰΛ” and the file “㗱”.
I suspect this is not intentional.

Change instrument and keep modulation and fx
As the title is self explainatory , When having lots of modulation and complex fxs , I just want to change the instrument and not want to save mods and fx chains and load them one by one . Is it possible to easily replace the instrument and keep everything else intact?

Renoise limitation
When loading a midi plugin ( in my case the fantastic midi modular loomer architect ) , renoise will not respect the defined midi channel ( set in the plugin )
I have just created a template in architect to control all the parameters of the virus ( emulation )
Since the virus is mulitimbral , it is essential to define on which midi channels these are send ( see screesnhot ) , but as soon as the routing is defined in renoise ( from midi plugin --.> to instrument ) it just disregards these explicit midi channels .
Meaning there is NO way to adress all these channels
The only thing renoise does is sending midi cc’s from the source plugin to the selected plugin without respecting the channel
This is NOT about aliases ( befor anyone jumps in , that is something completly different
This is a severe limitation

Renoise Not-Responding Salvage Attempt Assistance Request (Superteam)
Hello,
Renoise has undergone that unfortunate process it sometimes does. Not responding, this time will trying to save an extended sample recorded too long to include in the already full sample section. The additions made to the project file may have been too recent for the autosave and my wondering is whether there’s anyway to salvage the project with these additions intact before resorting to inevitable force quit.
Any ideas welcomed.
Kind Regards and May God Have Mercy On Your Soul,

New Tool (3.3): Keyboard Velocity Shortcuts - toggle global velocity and change it in increments of 10
Heyo! While writing a song I found myself wanting an easier way to change the keyboard velocity on the fly, and was surprised there was no built-in way or simple tool to do it.
This is a very quick hack I just made for my own use, I don’t know Lua, this is code copy-pasted straight from the examples and API docs, but hey, it works.
If your drum parts tend to look like this, maybe it will be useful to you too.
After installation, you will have new keyboard shortcuts you can set in the preferences, I’m using the numpad but you can use whatever you like:
There are shortcuts for 0x00, 0x10, 0x20, 0x30, 0x40, 0x50, 0x60, 0x70, and 0x7F, since I like working with those increments. It’s trivial to change them to something else by editing the code.
Here’s the thing, lemme know if it works out for you since I have no clue what I’m doing:

Linux: Renoise can't find Pianoteq 7?
Other hosts (carla, etc) have no problem with it.
Also renoise can’t find ANY VST PLUGINS unless i start it from the directory where they are stored. DESPITE VST_PATH VST3_PATH etc. all being set to the correct dirs. Again, other plugin hosts have no problem with this.

OSC /renoise/trigger/midi
Hi, everybody! Can anybody explain me how to use “/renoise/trigger/midi” command through OSC?
According to docs, it expects number, so I tried, for example, 0x903C64 as integer (which is note-on message on channel 1, note 60, velocity 100), but nothing happens. Ideally, I would like to send CC messages, as it seems there is no endpoint for them in protocol.

CPU questions (panic and startup state)
I’m just curious. sorry
I’d like to ask why when you load a project the song appears to use relatively very high CPU usage (in my test case 70%) when merely just loaded, a reset/panic by right-click the stop button makes it fall back to ~3%. Why isn’t Renoise started in this panicked/low CPU usage state?
I have a song that reaches max-CPU threshold and Renoise are supposedly doing a panic reset automatically but when it happens it stays high and only fall to around 60%, isn’t it supposed to go to ~3%? is it doing some form of mild panic?
Lastly we all know Renoise CPU usage percentage does not correspond very precisely to the numbers in Win10/Resource Monitor, I wish it made sense because looking at all the CPU cores make you think it’s currently a very inefficient state of affairs for multithreaded applications… Can I ask how Renoise calculate the CPU usage number? Empty render - again
From time to time (rarely but happens) Renoise renders… silence. Just silence, all zero bytes result. When I render song again - it render ok.
I wonder - what is upgrade plan for Renoise? More often bugfixes or cumulative update every x years? Becuase despite many suggestions, bug reports I’ve read on this forum, I don’t see any new versions informations or even answers with any information that anyone work on 3.3.3. So maybe all that bug reporting and sharing new ideas is just unnecessary?

PadSynth Update - Slider Randomizer?
So, I may have commented on the PadSynth module before, not sure if anybody saw it. Also, I can’t find “drakmaniso”, the maker of this synth. He’s not been on the forum for years, nor in the various places on the Internet that I could find him, and there were several. Could use an update with a ‘random’ button to adjust the various sliders in random ways for even greater tonal output.
PadSynth is an extremely important sample generator. The types of sounds it produces are based on the Paul Nasca synthesis techniques (PaulStretch is his amazing sample-stretcher) and the sounds that PadSynth can make are just stupendous. Absolutely beautiful.
I have used a VST3 by a fella named Ryukau off of GitHub that makes sounds that are based off of this synthesis method; again, the sounds are just out-of-this-world. Watch and listen to this!
So, the PadSynth Tool can make these sounds, but they are not easy to do, because the sliders have to be dragged and there’s 256 of them. Very handy for being tidy, but not for exploring new sounds. Would anybody be up for the challenge of adding a random button for the sliders? “drakmaniso” is nowhere to be found, and an adjustment for something so useful can’t be stepping on any toes.

Glide to a note in a given number of steps
Hi. I’ve read as many articles as I can find but no answers, so posting here. I want to glide a note a full octave in 64 steps. I could do this in Octamed but 25 years later can’t figure out how to do it in Renoise! I’ve tried G and U commands but there’s no interpolate option and I’m giving up on trial and error now. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Copy Bug in Automation Envelope?
Hi,
it seems I’m encountering a bug in Automation Envelopes when I copy envelopes.
When using Envelope Type “Lines” selecting, copying and pasting works fine:
But when I use Envelope Type “Points” the last point is missing after paste:
So I have to make the selection area one step further/behind the last point in the grid to get all points till the last one copied/pasted:
Could someone please explain this behaviour to me or is this a bug?
Many thanks
Denny

New tune from I.D. Crisis
Hey, folks - 'bout time we had a new one from me…been lacking in motivation a bit lately.
Actually it’s a completely re-worked old one (different instruments and some differences in composition). Uses Synthmaster 2.9 and a couple of old sci-fi samples.
Let me know what you think; what would you have done differently?
