Phrase questions Zxx / autoseek
Hey. I’m trying to figure out how to switch phrases with the Zxx command but can’t seem to sort it out. Can anyone help with that? I launch a phrase in the pattern editor, and then further down the sequence put -Z02 to trigger another phrase but it doesn’t switch. I must be missing something very simple here.
Also, does anyone know how Autoseek for phrases differs from samples? I was hoping to use it to make the phrases legato but it’s not seeming to work.
Thanks for the help.

120 ms latency when Renoise is slave to Reaper? How to lower it?
It’s never really been a problem to me before, because I’ve programmed note for note, but now I really want to jam in my basslines for example. and this high ms is just not acceptable.
I am currently circumventing the problem by starting a standalone version of Renoise, but how does one lower the ms delay when slaving Renoise? Please note that Reaper has a fine low 13 ms or so

Pitchbend down using M1?
I’m toying around with the M1 pitch bend command, but I can only do upwards bending, not downwards? 000 is no bend and 7F7F (and above) is maximum upwards bend, it seems. Am I missing something here?

Smooth Operator (Fix resonance)
Just checked out the new Smooth Operator from Baby Audio wondering whether it’s something I could use or not, had my doubts as I’m getting better with the EQs.
I’m currently making an electro track, I think its bass sounds great already so for some strange reason I thought why not slap this thing on it and see how it will be ruined
I couldn’t believe my ears … it improved the sound and revealed resonance around 500 and 1k that I have somehow gotten accustomed to. We are all different and I’m sure some of you would fix this in a few seconds with an EQ but I have made music for decades and this surprised me, check the Soundcloud link to hear yourself, it switches off and on.
The plugin is on sale right now, only $39 until the end of this month I believe, but try the trial on some of your songs and see what happens, you might learn what to listen for when working the EQ.

When using redux in reaper , phrase will not automatically repsotion to the thost after redux has been muted/unmuted while reaper keeps playing
I am not triggering the phrases by midi , just automatic playback

Marvellous discoveries (French House)
Heavily inspired by Daft Punk, this is a simple, rather cheesy french house song I wrote. It has a groovy bassline that I’m pretty proud of. Sounds pretty nice in car sound systems.

Midweek beat - Digitakt via Renoise
How to get PROPER swing in Renoise, with, for example piz midiswing?
Okay I love Renoise very much, but all means of ways to add swing is just terrible sounding
In FL Studio and Reaper, when you add swnig, it sounds completely different.
Yes, I’ve tried all means mentioned on this forum that people rave about, but it doesn’t sound good at all to me. That is the delay column, the q effect, the d command etc, and of course, the most terrible sounding global groove.
Now, please don’t make this post about me needing new ears, they work just fine, and if you were to compare for example FL studio’s most excellent swing to that of Renoise you’d know what I’m talking about.
I have been trying to solve this problem, using something called piz midiswing plugin. But when I move the swing slider, nothing happens.
I read in this forum that you should route the plugin somehow, using a virtual midi cable. But I am a complete noob on that one, so please help me out!
And again, please, no mention on how swing is awesome in Renoise, because it is not.
Warm fuzzy feelings in advance to anyone who may help!

How to delete unused dsp
Is there anyway to delete unused dsp effects in renoise, similar to the delete unused patterns function?

Playing a sample as an instrument?
I’ve been so busy with cutting up breaks, now I realise I want to use some other sound samples to play as instruments. I’m not talking about complex keymapping of multi-layer samples or anything, just the ability to play a sample without it speeding up/slowing down.
Like this in Ableton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVvGo4m2joM

TouchOSC mk2 is out!
TouchOSC has been written from the ground up : TouchOSC | hexler.net
I really hope the community and the team will invest this tool… Having a proper controller with names and feedback is really what renoise is missing…

Midi map rotary and pushbutton to 1 destination
HI,
I would like to assign a rotary encoder and a pushbutton to the pitch of my sample. That way I could use the rotary to change the pitch and then push the button to go back to it’s inital value.
I can’t do this by normal midi mapping, because I can only assign one controller cc to a destination.
I’ve tried to workaround this by assiging 2 macro’s to the pitch, so I can assign the rotary and the pushbutton to it’s own macro which then controll’s the pitch/ The assignments work, I can adjust the value with the rotary, but the pushbutton doesn’t reset to the initial value, sometimes it does, I can’t configure it to be reliable.
Does anyone have some advice on how I can achieve this ? Assigning a rotary and pushbutton to one destination? That would be great
Thanks

Redux: Is there a way to trigger a sample to begin somewhere other than its beginning?
I realize I can trigger slices within a sample, but is there a way to trigger a four-bar sample to start at measure three, beat two, for example, and then play to the end?
If I can’t do it from my DAW, is there a way to set a note in the keymap to start the sample at a specific point?

Any way to change the note under the cursor LSDj / NerdSeq style?
I’ve been getting back into Renoise after stumbling through hardware synths, getting a NerdSeq and falling in love with the workflow, but I’ve been having a hard time getting back into renoise and its ‘keyboard’, especially fine tuning my patterns.
Is there a way to enter and edit notes by raising/lowering the note under the cursor in the pattern? In LSDj and NerdSeq you have Ctrl+left/right to change notes by semitone, while ctrl+up/down changes octave. I’ve been trying to emulate that via keyboard commands in Renoise but don’t think it’s possible.
Ridiculously there seem to be keyboard commands for transposing a selection (“block”), columns or entire patterns in that way but nothing for changing the note under the cursor.
Thanks for any help, I’ve really become so used to this workflow I’m afraid I can’t go back…

I was considering calling it “4K”, but I’ll reserve that for another gruesome idea.
