Pizza Street Beats
Hey guys, i haven’t uploaded in a awhile, but I’ve finally made some more progress on the LP. With the fourth track.
So the theme of this song was basically an advert in the Midwest and specifically in my state, Missouri. I remember when this ad used to come on all the time when i was little, so i decided that to be the thing the song would be based around.
You can find it here: https://youtu.be/8Jq5Ihox0wM
There’s a show that, when i was little, used to watch on the local tv network Qubo, which has now been canceled, called Pecola, and i also wanted to use some elements from that, so you can find the theme song here: Pecola Intro - YouTube
If you want the renoise file, either for samples, remixing, anything like that, you can find it here: Pizza Street Beats
Here’s the stems also: My Files
As always, feedback is always welcome, whether it be mixing, compositional choices, or something else, feel free to speak what’s on your mind.
I’m not sure what I’ll do for the next song, but i think I’ll try to make something a little faster, thanks for reading and taking the time to listen and i hope you enjoy.

Script to Batch Export .XRNS
Hi, I am trying to take a large (>1000 item) list of .mod files and export each one to .xrns using the
renoise.app():load_song and
renoise.app():save_song_as
functionalities. It works successfully for a single song, but when I try to do it iteratively in a for loop the saving part is so much faster than the loading part that it always saves the first song loaded with the new filename.
I think what I need (and I’m totally not sure, this is my first time using Lua or Renoise) is an observable that notices when load_song has finished. I couldn’t find such a thing in the API. Do you have any suggestions?
Many thanks!

Easter Bunny Beat Box
Easter Bunny Beat Box
Here i have made a drum kit aiming for a rich and deep sound that sounds good right out of the box with no need for a lot of post processing. The demo i added is completely dry, so the sound you hear is what you get.
Happy Easter!
I much appreciate constructive feedback. What do you think of this drum kit? Any suggestions for improvements?

Directsound & Asio4All 2 problem
I have Windows 10 and usually use the default Directsound output but I recently installed Asio4All 2 as a test but it seems to have messed with my Directsound output.
With Asio4All selected everything plays fine and latency is acceptable, just as Directsound was, I didn’t install Asio4All for use with Renoise.
However now when I try to use Directsound there is terrible cracking and a strange distorted delay when I try to play sounds in Renoise. The CPU is at %4 so I know that isn’t the issue.
I have uninstalled Asio4All but the problem still persists, does anyone know anything about this?
All other audio plays fine, including in other DAWs.
Thanks in advance.

Where do I find release notes (3.3.2)
Firstly, I’m delighted to see version 3.3.2 is out. Secondly, where do I go to find release notes on it? The only page I could find on the site has notes up to version 3.1.0 only.

Duplex: Arturia Keylab MKII
New Duplex configuration for the Keylab MKII:
All lights works with differents color and react to Renoise change and Keylab change.
All parameters name, instruments name, track name display on screen and react to Renoise change and Keylab change.
Due to the use of lights for PADs (not the default one that are semi lighted) and some bugs in USER mode with lights, i had to use the standard midi port hence the Analog Lab mode don’t work anymore but you can use Instrument Automation device with the preset in the package to have the parameters name on screen (Part 1 and 2 only).
Lights works as usual in Analog Lab.
Some mode change (DAW/Analog Lab/USER) need a press on the “Out” button to recall all the lights, i can’t check which mode are choose in certain order so i had to use a button.
DAW Commands work the same in all modes.
The arrow on transport buttons select previous/next pattern.
In the package, there’s the default Renoise midi file, all Keylab presets, nearly all VSTi default midi map i was able to save (you need to load them as default in the VSTi).
The corresponding pad to trigger to enter in the correct preset for the instrument selected is hilighted everytime you change instrument. Trigger it will enter USER mode with the corresponding preset.
Please let me know if you have some ideas or encounter bugs… it was tested since one month without any issues but i probably have missed some.
Due to the autorized extensions, i had to upload the package elsewhere:
wetransfer.com __Keylab_MKII_package_03-2021/Analog Lab.xrdp and 4 more files5 files sent via WeTransfer, the simplest way to send your files around the world
Thanks!

Question on auto generating MIDI NoteOff commands for external synth
Hi, just picked up a lovely Behringer CAT today and had lots fun with it already. It is characterful and going to be fun to use and sample!
I’m trying to get it all set up nice for use in Renoise and I’ve spotted an issue.
The CAT appears to be operate in auto-legato mode with no triggering of envelopes when a note comes in without a note-off first. I can add explicit note-offs in the track to get “normal” behaviour, though this could get rather messy. Is there a way I can have Renoise send them automatically? A specific retrigger mode or something.
I haven’t found anything about this on the CAT side yet, but I’ll keep looking, maybe I can switch the synth behaviour.
Cheers.

Binary of default JUCE VST3 plugin template fails to load on Windows 10
Description:
I am working on developing a VST3 plugin on Windows 10 using the JUCE framework. Everything is 64 bit. The default plugin template project’s VST3 output fails to load in Renoise 3.3.2 when placed inside of C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. My plugin also fails to load (which is why I’ve tested the basic JUCE template as well).
The plugins load successfully in all other DAWs I was able to test with:
- JUCE’s AudioPluginHost
- Ableton 10
- Reaper 6.19
- Tracktion Waveform 11.5
Steps to reproduce:
- Using JUCE’s Projucer create a new Project and choose Plugin → Basic
- Configure desired names, etc., but otherwise use default project values
- Open project and build in either Debug or Release mode
- Copy the binary .vst3 file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
- Open Renoise and ensure VST3 plugins are enabled; rescan as necessary
Expected results:
Plugin should appear in Renoise’s VST3 plugin list.
Actual results:
Plugin fails to load.
Extras:
I looked at the log file and this seemed to be the relevant failure information during instantiation of the plugin:
It says ‘not critical’ and then releases the plugin according to the log file. What is the controller state requirement Renoise is looking for to allow instantiation and consider the plugin valid?
Final thoughts:
So far, statistically speaking, the majority of other DAWs don’t seem to impose whatever this requirement is on a plugin before allowing it to load. This is an undesirable experience as a plugin developer, at least not knowing yet why such a basic plugin build should fail to load.
Thanks for any attention or help with this.

Renoise 1.5.2 Win98 with a AKAI MPC
I use old synth hardware over a MPU-401 AT interface on a windows98SE system.
The Sample option on renoise is great, but at the mom i use the Creative wave sampler to create WAV samples for Renoise. I was thinking about get a AKAI MPC to create samples with more depth and options to edit it.
First focus was a MPC-2000XL but than i switched to a MPC-1000 because the usb data transfer. At the moment i fall in love with the Live 2. Because its standalone.
What you guys can suggest ? Not buyed any MPC at the mom will be the first hardware sampler. (dont have the money for a mpc 60 or 3000 ^^)

Best flexible universal ASIO driver on windows
A flexible universal ASIO driver that uses the PortAudio sound I/O library. Supports WASAPI (shared and exclusive), KS, DirectSound and MME.
here’s the GUI version too, since the original doesn’t have it.
dechamps handles the driver itself, and flipswitchingmonkey made a GUI for us to use.
Simple configuration GUI for FlexASIO. Contribute to flipswitchingmonkey/FlexASIO_GUI development by creating an account on GitHub.
so just FYI, you install the gui version first then update the driver, with dechamps most recent version.

New here - Question about the way Renoise sounds?
Hello, I’m new to Renoise, sort of… I remember messing with Trackers in the late 1990s, probably even Renoise if it was around then… But I couldn’t get my head around the way they worked, and I had Cubase at that time, and didn’t see any reason to really dig deep into learning how to use Trackers… Looking back, I really wish I did now! Think my music might have gone in different directions over the years if I had got started with Trackers a long time ago. Oh well, I guess that time is now.
So I haven’t paid for Renoise, yet, but I’m seriously considering it…
So, my question…
Do Trackers sound crunchy to you? I can’t quite explain, but to my ears Renoise, and other Trackers sound tighter and cleaner than regular DAWs? Is this a real thing, or maybe its just the type of music people tend to make on them?
I saw a video on Youtube with another Tracker user, and he described it as crunchy.
What do you think?
