Question about vst 3 and midi out
I’ve got a question about how exactly vst 3 uses midi out information
I am using the roland editor ( vst 3 ) for my integra , and it works fine ,usinge it only to send sysex info .
There is a bidirectional connection between the editor and the hardware over usb using the integra combined midi/audio usb interface .
The thing is that the midi connections are set up in the editor itself , an not via renoise midi in /out.
Whenever I make changes to the editor these are reflected on the hardware but renoise midi out indicator shows no activity .
So my questoin is , is vst3 handling midi separate from the host ?

"Light is right" forum browsing suggestion
Automatic “hide details” for media links in the forum
Possible?
Or Renoise users should have a line of conduct for lighter forum browsing?

Free Running LFO in an Instrument
This came to my attention on the Renoise Discord where someone wanted to do a freerunning LFO running on the filter modulation. Technically speaking this is not possible with the current functionality of the modulation feature. It works with having finite starting times and ending times, making it very digital in respect. To make it “analog” you’ll need to apply some concepts I posted in a previous topic and do some exploit trickery.
(1) Create a Doofer in the pattern matrix area where the Instrument Macro is being subsidized.
(2) Within the instrument, place an operand modulator into the filter (or any modulation).
(3) Attach the macro onto the operand.
(4) On the instrument’s FX matrix, copy and paste the newly created doofer into a FX chain.
(5) Attach a Doofer macro onto the instrument macro.
(6) Next add an LFO to the chain.
(7) Chain the LFO onto the Doofer macro you just modified.
And congrats you have yourself a free running LFO.
Note: I prefer utilizing operands because it gives you the flexibility to do Mathematic modulation. Modulating on the input parameter is fine.

Junkyard - Remixed/remastered
I did some work to improve the sound of this track, please tell me what you think, how does it sound compared to the original?

Valhalla Delay VST3 keeps resetting delay time to default
Having some weird behavior with the VST3 version of Valhalla Delay. If I save and reload a project using this plugin, the delay time gets reset to the default (300 ms). Other parameters seem to be unaffected.
In this video I’ve just opened the project. You can see the plugin is disabled and the delay time is 89 ms. As soon as I enable the plugin, it’s reset to 300 ms.
This doesn’t seem to happen with the VST2 Version. I’ve included the project file. I’m using Renoise 3.3.0 and Valhalla Delay Version 1.8.2

Doofer and its content possibilities
Doofers should allow to add also other tools, not only device-effects (reverbs, delays, distortions, …), such for example: #Send. It will make smart routing far way more flexible…

Pitch shift effect on sliced sample not working as expected
Hey, first time poster.
I am having a strange issue which I cannot seem to resolve when using the pitch shift effect command.
As you can see in the image I have D20 added to the sample half way down the pattern, then D00 for the remaining samples.
The pitch shifts for the first sample with D20 but remaining samples are pitched the same as the D20 sample they do not continue to pitch down. Even adding D20 to all remaining samples still results in the same pitch as the original D20 changed sample.
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong here? Thanks

Add an ADSR (and manipulate its settings) to an Instrument
Hi,
Is it possible to add an ADSR effect to an instrument, via the Tools API? I’ve been poking around in in the Renoise.Song.API documentation but have either missed it or am not understanding something fundamental.
Thanks

Example of disabling one checkbox when another is enabled
Hi Everyone.
I have, what seems to be, a pretty simple task of toggling checkboxes based on the state of another checkbox.
I’ve looked into bind and add_notifier(), but something I’m doing isn’t quite right. Can someone provide a quick pseudo code example, or better yet, an actual example of doing this?
To be clear, what I’m trying to do:
When checkbox A becomes enabled, checkbox B becomes disabled.
Thanks,

Kontakt Path Problem
Hello Renoise Folks,
I had a Problem with Kontakt 5. I had moved my Instruments Folder to an another directory on an other drive because of Memory limits. Now i have the Problem that all my old Renoise Songs want load correct. Everytime Kontakt pops up and say cannot find Instrument/Preset. I must correct the path from every Kontakt instrument manual by hand. Thats really bad. Anybody has a Tip for me? I dont can handle more than 200 songs in this Way.
happy tracking

Shrunken VST3 GUIs
I have a very irritating problem that renders my VST3 plugins (and thus making music) impossible.
Example: (image link)
Large black window with the GUI about 1/3 the original size in the bottom left corner.
More irritatingly, the clickable areas are that of the original, so can’t operate the small (and unreadable) GUI as well.
It was the same at some other VST3s where it miraculously fixed itself without any updates, but for some it stays like this.
What’s the solution?
Thanks in advance!

Mo Musika? Renoise? Oh yes
I don’t really know what I’m doing because I’m very drunk and I don;t normally f**k with internets.
But people need to know that Renoise is the greatest piece of software the world has ever seen.
This was made in Renoise:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ythaQ_LiuE
And there are some massive tracks going to vinyl… from many artists… that have been made using … Renoise. I don’t understand what there is to understand here. (?)
Ok you probably know all this. I don’t get out much I’m sorry. ~~
One last thing.
PT3 > FT2 > MPT > Psycle > Renoise !!!
(mic drop)
I’m out.
Big up pastenotecut crew. (gone from internet? Damn. Must get out more.)

Logitech G502 Mouse causing strange behavior in Renoise?
I am new to the forum and Renoise as well so I hope I am asking this in the right place.
I use a Logitech G502 mouse with button mappings to help me navigate my projects. The mouse button mappings have become very useful but I keep running into weird interactions between it and Renoise. The mouse may work for a while doing exactly what I need it to do, but slowly over time it starts to cause problems with Renoise and the mouse button short cuts start bugging out and doing weird things. Also moving the mouse sometimes totally freezes up the UI. Sometimes just restarting Renoise helps but thats a drag.
I guess I am just wanting to see if anyone else uses a mouse (maybe even the G502) with button mappings and has seen this occur. I can’t tell if it’s with the mouse itself or Renoise. Strangely enough, the bugs happen depending on which G502 button preset I am using in the Logitech software as well.
I am on an iMac Pro Catalina running the latest version of Renoise
I am using the “Logitech Gaming Software” to map out my Mouse buttons.
Any Thoughts?

Played around with decentsampler
Pianobook and decentsampler is one hell of a nice collaboration. I love the clearness of that piano. This piece is again not a real song (okay, the original is a real song, though)

Synkretic - Habitat [IDM, ambient, electro]
Habitat | Synkretic | Kahvi Collective This is my new EP, ‘Habitat’, released today on the cult netlabel Kahvi Collective! Every song was made in Renoise in 2020. Pays homage to Florida’s beautiful ecosystem, apocalyptic weather, bizarre population, and distinctly spiritual atmosphere with ambience and glitchy electro beats.

Robert Random - Cinch (House)
I’m going to release some songs in coming months and here’s the first one. I thought this is deep house / progressive house hybrid but now I got some feedback that it’s too much in the bass house / future house category for a deep house playlist. So I guess I have no idea what I’m doing and I’m clueless with these different house genres.
Anyway, slow buildup, quiet atmospheric part in the middle and big almost cinematic finale at the end. Couple of NI plugins and lots of samples used. Have a nice spring everyone!
