Midi Control A Single Reason 11 VST Using Separate Renoise Tracks
Hi guys,
Now that 3.3 is out, the Reason 11 vst works just fine inside Renoise.
My question: Is it possible to only use one instance of Reason 11 vst inside Renoise all while using multiple Renoise/midi tracks to control each instrument back inside Reason?
For example, I want to use Europa, Malstrom, and Redrum, which are all inside Reason, but I want to use separate Renoise midi tracks to control each of these instruments. (Think Bass, Lead, and Drums).
Yes, I could open up three instances of Reason inside Renoise each as their own tracks, but it hurts the cpu on my budget laptop. This would be the easiest way to solve the issue, but Reason is a vst that has a bunch of mini vsts inside of it.
…If I could use Reason as a single vst, all while using Renoise to control each instrument inside of it, that would be great!
My issue right now is that I have the vst on one track, I layer a Europa and Kong, and both the synth and drum hit play together. I am trying to figure out where the Midi Out device (on Europa and Kong) routes inside Renoise and how I can use a Renoise track to play only drum hits and the other track the Europa.
Again, It would be so cool to have up to 10 tracks all while there is only one vst present.

Pattern Sequencer: Support for Multiple Loop Sections
It would be fun if you could have multiple looping sections defined in the Pattern Sequencer.
Especially for situations where you are jamming with renoise, it would be nice to define several looping pattern sections that you can jump between.

Hit By A Train By PanosK
Selling Renoise 3.3.1 (updates until 4.3)
Purchased less than a month ago (feb 16th) for 82,28 Euro including VAT. Asking 55 Euro (Paypal).
License is valid until 4.3. I like Renoise as a tracker, however it’s not for me as a DAW. So I’m hoping to sell this and go the VST route with Redux.

Noir Sad Orchestral theme
Hello ! I have composed a small theme inspired by various chord progressions in a dark and jazzy key. The problem we have when we compose something is that hearing them hardens our ears and we end up getting used to them and we find no faults in them. And that is something painful. I would like you to comment on everything that you find bad or good on this simple topic. I have used as few instruments as possible, I know you can decorate with more horns and add percussion effects, but the strings eat up almost all the space! Comment thanks !!
Ear it using headphones due bass notes.!

Guitar Rig 5 VST makes scrolling lag
I noticed that whenever i use the Guitar Rig 5 VST i experience that when i scroll down the pattern with the mouse wheel on the track it becomes very laggy. This is even when Guitar Rig says it only uses 3% CPU.
I haven’t noticed this problem with any other plugin, so i assume the problem is with the plugin itself, but i thought i’d mention it just in case.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?

GUI of Surge VST3 is not updating when I turn the knobs on my midi controller
I want to use Surge Synthesizer (VST3) with a midi controller, but if i turn the knobs of my midi controller the VST GUI does not get updated. However, if I hover my mouse over the controls in the GUI of the VST, it gets re-rendered and the sliders are updated.
I thought this was an issue with the VST, since other VST plugins do not show this behaviour in Renoise, but the folks at Surge Synthesize could not reproduce the issue in other DAW’s, so they thought it could be Renoise-related. GitHub issue: GUI is not updating when I turn the knobs on my midi controller · Issue #4050 · surge-synthesizer/surge · GitHub
Does anyone else have this problem or know what might be causing this? I’m using Renoise Renoise 3.3.1 on Windows 10

Does anybody here use Renoise for multitrack recording of hardware?
Hello Renoise gang,
I currently own an Elektron Digitone which I bought to use away from the desk that I am at for 8 hours a day at work, to jam ideas on and then hopefully record into my DAW and edit, sequence and add to. I was using Reason 11 until recently but I sold the licence and the only DAW I now own is Renoise which is fine - I love Renoise and I am still learning new things every day. With the money from selling Reason and a bonus I have just found out I am getting from work I am looking into getting a Digitakt to go with my Digitone.
I am lucky in so far as the Elektron stuff uses the Overbridge VST to connect to DAW and can do audio over USB, I have managed to set up a template for the Digitone to stream it’s four tracks into four tracks in Renoise and apply FX to each one, as well as one master track for automating pattern changes and some automation of parameters. But I am yet to try and commit anything to audio and with any further hardware I decide to get this problem will be compounded. I am tempted to just only bounce to audio when finishing the song, rather than bouncing clips and bits and pieces.
Does anybody else multitrack hardware with Renoise? If/when I get a Digitakt I will need to create a further 9 tracks (one master pattern change, 8 audio tracks). I am loathe to move DAW after simplifying down to just Renoise and am looking for input from anybody else who uses hardware. Part of me also things that perhaps I should separate my hardware endeavours from my software but I think that limits me in some ways, each can compliment the other - it’s just a case of figuring it all out. I have also considered selling my Digitone and using my money for a faster PC to run, dare I say it, more than one instance of Diva (shocked Pikachu.jpeg).
Thanks and sorry for the long post, I felt it necessary to spell out what I do and will need to get the best advice.

Need help achieving Mick Gordon's "DOOM Compressor" sound in Renoise
Has anyone attempted (or succeeded) at creating this type of compression in Renoise? I’ve gone as far as loading up 6 OTT’s automating multiple parameters with hydra and I’m no where close to the sound. Does anybody have any idea how this could be achieved using … well ANYTHING AT ALL … lol … I’m desperate at this point.

Redux enlarges DAW file
Hi there, I’ve got an issue I did not find the answer elsewhere.
First of all I want to note that I have tested demo version of Redux and found out that Redux enlarging DAW’s project file. What is my setup?
I have plenty of sfz files with different volume of attached samples.
My main setup is Ableton + sforzando. Initially sforzando has no AHDSR controls (you can add them by text coding) and limited number of FX (can also be added by text coding with free MDA plugins). You can imagine what job should be done to implement all these stuff to each sfz.
Redux is more promising in respect to all above comparing to sforzando but I was confused with the fact that Ableton’s file with solely Redux track was 30 MB, the same volume as size of listed in sfz samples.
For example Ableton file with same sfz but using sforzando was only 80 kB.
Same situation with Reaper’s project file.
So, my request is to port samples into project only not to embed them into project file.
Is there any feature in Redux to swithch it off?

Found sound production challenge
Hey all,
Time for another challenge! Bust out your field recorders, because the rules are simple: ALL sound sources must be real-world acoustically generated found sounds.
No musical instruments of any kind, no intentional singing, but speech, sounds of nature/human engineering in the built environment, and anything you can knock on, bang on, stimulate, or excite in any way can be used as a sample. Foley sample packs are fine if you don’t have a way of capturing your own sounds, but no instruments or anything intentionally musical. You can use these acoustic sounds as waveforms for synthesis if you wish, but extra points for NO synthesis. Plug-ins for processing audio are fine for this one.
No time limits, no prizes, just an opportunity to dust off your recording devices and have some fun working with creative constraint within the excellently capable sampler that is renoise. There is a whole world of sound to capture out there… looking forward to hearing what you can do with it!
peace & happy sampling

Global Option to change slider and box value drag speed
When using the trackpad on my macbook I find the sliders in Renoise to be way too sticky, would be great if there was a global option change the drag responsiveness of sliders and value boxes that allow up/down dragging (like the volume box of an instrument).

Apple: Mac firewall / OSC Server
When you enable OSC server on a Mac? How to set the firewall?
User wants to know if dad can play his piano over the network over a mac, i’m afraid it can but who is dad, what software does he use and who knows how to set the firewall? I have told him to disable the port 8000 (the default, used OSC server port) in his modem/router. In windows this is no issue, as you can set the domain to “private” and only allow your local computer.

Individual VST note panning
Hi. I have a 4 note chord using a VST (Surge, pad sound) and I want the first note to pan hard left, the second to pan hard right, 3rd maybe somewhere else in the audio field… you get the idea. But I can’t get it to work. Seems the right most track governs the final pan and all of the notes sound in it. Also tried send routing but that didn’t work.

What would you recommend as a limiter?
Hi!
I’m working on a track where basically snares make peaks hitting shortly top of headroom.
Here is the rendered view in audacity:
I think in this case a limiter could help on the snare, but I wonder if this is possible to do with Renoise native effects avoiding saturation (just attenuate the signal, not cut it)?
Or if there have external tools/VSTi/AU recommandations you can also tell about of course.

Beatstep Pro Always starts Renoisesfrom the beginning
Hey. I would like to use my Beatstep Pro to start and stop Renoise, but when I press play, it always starts the track from the first pattern. Is there any way to change the behavior so it starts the current pattern? (ie, mid track) Thanks
