Cells! Tool - working version?
Does anybody have a working version of the Cells! Tool here? Cells! | Renoise
Seems like it might be a fun Tool to work with, but I can’t use it.

Tips for song arranging? Struggling with the arrangement window
Hello!
I look at the arrangement window and it’s the only part of Renoise I struggle to properly “see”. It’s the only thing I miss from a “typical” DAW. I find the “blocks” difficult to mentally parse, I can’t see the transition part or automation and how it all relates. Does anybody have any workflow tips or hacks (or wanna make a video on it, wink wink @slujr) that they’re happy to share?
Thanks
Sam

Can you see the path to a selected sample?
Hi guys,
is there any way to see the path to a selected sample in the instrument selector? Especially when I have renamed a sample I struggle to remember which folder I found it in, so it would be really nice get the file path by hovering the sample or right click → show file path.
I’m a complete beginner when in comes to trackers and have only been tinkering with Renoise for a couple of weeks and so far I’m loving it. I have to say that the amount of knowledge and willingness to help others on this forum is impressive, and I’ve learned a lot just by browsing.
My biggest fear is that with all the possibilities within Renoise, this can be a really deep rabbit hole from which it can be difficult to emerge from

Wicked Game - Cover
Always loved this song, not sure I can do it justice as I just don’t have the voice for it, but it was fun making it regardless

Width command wxx
The width command sounds awesome when it is set to WFF and layering stuff over a mono signal. The problem is, in a mono mix the wide signal disappears.I have my own set of tools for widening signals out a lot so that they wont disappear in mono, however it only sounds half as good, more noticeably on percussion type elements. With the WFF command they don’t lose power and they also snap very nicely. To me id rather use the very wide WFF instead of stereo expanders and the like.I dont want to use a WXX command lower than FF either as then the elements tilt slightly to one side in what i consider to be a very ugly way.My question is,is it really thaaaaatttt important to mix for mono?I have heard that some clubs systems are actually in mono which strikes me as a bit bizarre. Is the problem really just mobile phones??

Same Pattern in different patterns with different LPB
Hello - please excuse me if this is already listed on here, I wasn’t sure of the terminology of how to search for it.
If I create a detailed and complex sequence in one pattern at 8 LPB, then switch to another pattern at 16 LPB, copying and pasting will make this pattern play twice as fast.
That makes sense and all, but is there a way to conform it to the new LPB so it plays back exactly the same?
If so, does it work the other way around?

Halion 7 gui Automation
Well hello there! So Halion 7 is out, and i’m having some trouble with assigning automation. It works by the usual right clicking on a knob (add automation). But apparently there’s another way to automate things that are hidden by Halion, by adding an automation slot inside Halion. Then move something on the gui that you want to automate, which places that target inside the internal automation list. For example: you should be able to automate the individual steps in the steps envelope.
They don’t appear as destination choise using the mod matrix. So the only way is to move the steps on the gui, which then should be recorded/added inside Halions own automation list.
In Cubase you have to select “Read” and “Write” on top of the vst gui. This works perfectly. I downloaded the renoise “Gui automation recorder” tool and it works fine with other vsts. But i’m having no luck with the above^^
Do we have any Halion experts in the Renoise community? Is this possible within Renoise?

Releasing The Old Song... hang
Brief Description: Oftentimes, when loading another song, when it gets to ‘Releasing the old song…’ it hangs, and the program has to be shutdown through windows (‘this app is not responding, close?’ ‘Yes’).
Steps to reproduce: After working for awhile, and saving a song, go to load another song.
Expected results: That the song will load normally.
Actual results: Renoise 'hangs on ‘Releasing the old song…’
Since recently migrating from Renoise 3.1 (got a new 64-bit machine), moved VSTIs/VSTs to new installation. Many plug-ins are 32-bit
Also, when this hangup happens, more often than not the ‘load recently saved song’ list is not up to date. When reloading Renoise to begin again, several loaded and saved songs from the previous session are not in the ‘recently saved song’ list.
The ‘song folder in use now’ is also not remembered, and the same thing with ‘favorite’ VST/DSPs added in the previous (hanging) session.
I have a log if you want me to email it.
It’s kind of a minor inconvenience, but it would be great to know if you can spot something being amiss.
2nd Gen i3 proc with 8gb RAM, 500mb HD, Dell model.
Thanks

Overbridge Stuttering Audio Also Reaktor Questions
Hello, new to Renoise been using it native no issues for a couple of weeks. Need to bring in some external plugins; having some issues. Hope one of you fine sirs or madams can help?
MacBook Pro 2020, M1 processor
Renoise ARM64, V3.4.2
Digitakt as instrument (AU), Analog Heat as effects (AU), both units in Overbridge mode and look fine in Overbridge control panel.
Tested all in Ableton, no issues works as expected.
Renoise:
Digitakt as instrument; super choppy audio (unusable.)
Analog Heat as effect; super choppy audio (unusable.)
Can use both devices as audio interfaces still in Overbridge mode; no issues.
Any Halp! would be very welcome.
Other, less dire issues:
Reaktor 6 as instrument, no audio; feel like I’m doing something dumb, but too dumb to figure out what it is that I’m doing?
Reaktor 7 Playbox as instrument, no audio, same as above.
Reaktor 6 as FX, works as expected; yay!
Other even less dire issues:
Clicking on the Plugin editor keeps bringing my MacOS tool bar up. Need to click back into Renoise window for my midi keyboard (Keyboard) to activate. Maybe how it is, just odd and distracting.
Anyways, thanks again; really hope I figure this out. Always had trouble putting actual songs together in the DAWs (to the point I never did) and Renoise work flow seems to be an AHA moment for that.
Cheers!
I’ll keep poking around the forums and edit my comment as I figure stuff out.
Cheers cheers!

Can't find or load vst3 Mac
I’ve searched for hours on google and this forum and can’t find anyone with the exact same problem as me/ at least not found the solution!
I can’t seem to load a bunch of new .vst3 VST’s into Renoise (on Mac).
I’ve tried rescanning a million times, tried putting just one of the .vst3 files in various directories in case it’s looking elsewhere and I’ve deleted the failed cache files in the preferences folder, nothing has worked.
At the moment the only plugins I have that are showing are the default AU Apple ones that I guess came with Renoise…
If anyone has any suggestions please send them over!
At the moment the .vst3’s are in library>Audio>Plug-ins>VST I’ve put just the file in there and also tried the whole folder the vst was unzipped in, neither are showing up.

GSi VB3-II occasionally crashes latest Renoise
I recently bought the GSI VB3-II plugin - unfortunately both its VST2 and VST3 versions occasionally cause a fatal error with the latest Renoise. So I thought I’d report.
Here’s a screenshot of the error message:
My specs:
PC, Windows 11, Intel Core i7 12700K
Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB (in 96kHz)
Renoise 64bit - full version v3.4.2

Is the Sampler linked to the individual tracks?
Hello Guys,
I am new to renoise. I used Ableton fpr quite a long time, but grew tired of it so I am trying Renoise and its so much fun. I am still a noob and am currently struggling with the sampler.
On a new and empty project: When I drag a sample (in this case a break)on an empty track it automatically gets loaded into the sampler, after that I slice it and record the slices on the track. Usually I want to continue with another track and add a pad-sample on a new track, but than the sampler doesnt show the old sample break. There is no way for me to reslice the previous sample. I come from an Ableton workflow, where a sampler is linked as an instrument to the track. so I can have different sampler on each track. Is this not the case with renoise. I appreciate every help because I totally got lost and the tutorials are not helping.
I use the Demo version right now, if it makes any difference.

How Render a livelooping/mixing to disk?
Hello together!
I want ask if there is the ability to Render a livelooping(livemixing to disk as it heared while playing. The Render to Disk function is net helpfull in this, and a external Programm running for that is not so elegant. Is there a way to do this with Renoise own mechanism or exist tools for that?

Very unstable external MIDI timing
First of all, I don’t think this is Renoise-specific really, but I’m nevertheless in need of some assistance, advice, and experiences. Most of what I’m describing I can also replicate in Ableton Live 10, more or less.
The issues is that all external MIDI events coming from my audio interface Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 (1st gen, yes I know, it’s aging, has lots of known issues, and is due for replacement) to any external synth are subject to severe jitter that seems to directly depend on the ASIO buffer size. For an example at 44.1kHz and 512 sample buffers (11.6ms audio callback buffer latency) external MIDI events also have about as much jitter. Renoise is able to compensate the latency as per the numbers reported by the driver, but constant random jitter of over 10ms or so on every note event is quite noticeable and borderline unbearable for any sort of exact timing. I’d have to go down to about 128 samples at 44.1kHz to make the jitter not be an issue, but buffer sizes that low aren’t feasible for me due to performance reasons. At the other end using a 1024 sample buffer problem becomes even worse and makes MIDI completely unusable.
Worth mentioning that obviously none of this jitter appears in internal MIDI events such as the built-in sampler or VST instruments, only external MIDI going out from the interface (and audio routed back into it). None of the MIDI settings in Renoise aid the problem at all either, only lowering the ASIO buffer size does, but it’s a very brute force that doesn’t even eliminate the problem. One thing I also notice that especially at higher buffer lengths (especially 1024) I can see the GUI refresh rate stutter slightly periodically, and the MIDI timing also gets messed up at these exact moments when the Renoise GUI drops frames. Ableton Live also behaves similarly, perhaps subtly different, but clearly still suffering from the very same issue.
Is this a behavior anyone else has experienced with other audio interfaces? Is it a software issue that could have a solution, or do I need to face the facts that this old Focusrite sucks with regards to MIDI as well? I’d hate to invest in a new interface just to learn that it too suffers from this behavior. There must be some solution though, because I don’t think you’d find many musicians who’d be happy with MIDI timing this unstable.
Attached is a stereo recording of a “click track” with the channels containing audio from an external synth via MIDI, and an internal sampler instrument, respectively, to illustrate the issue. This was done at 44.1kHz with 512 sample buffer which is the default I work at. Also for the record I’m using Windows 10.

Renoise with Mashine
Hi. I’d appreciate it if someone can help with a couple of issues I’m having.
I cannot seem to get Renoise to recognise my Maschine. I have followed instructions in the manual, read some posts in this forum, and unless I’m getting things completely wrong; it’s still not working. I have also tried mapping global controls with the learn function, but of course this is not detected as there is no midi data being received by Renoise.
I have selected device in Renoise preferences, put Maschine into midi mode, still no connection (LED on Renoise not responding).
My second problem is that many vst instruments are not being detected in Renoise, despite them appearing to be scanned on start up. An example of one is Massive X.
I’m new to Renoise and the forum, so apologies if I’m missing something really simple.
Renoise V3.4.2
Maschine Mk 3
OS Windows 10
64-bit OS and x64-based processor.
All software appears to be up to date.

FL20 plugin in Renoise
FL has nice plugin, something like FL in other DAW-s. Unfortunately it works bad - is completely out of sync (sometimes less, sometimes more). Is kind of ok when plugin small window is open and starts play unevenly, some notes faster, some with delay.
Anyone try it?
