Phuturetone GR-8
Hi,
I’m new to VST’s and recently I discovered Phuturetone GR8 and made an awesome melody. I created the melody in the digital audio workstation Renoise. However I want the melody to go silent at a certain point in my track. Usely with samples I use the OFF command in the note column to silence the sample so I don’t hear it anymore (in the next pattern). However with Phuturetone GR8 as a VST this does not work: the sound slowly fades away. However I want an immediately stop / silence. How can I achieve this in (combination with Renoise).
Thanks in advance.

Volca Drum Single Mode Test
I had some time left so I tried to connect Volca Drum in single midi mode. The control is a bit different than in split mode, but overall it works. They can’t find such creations as in split mode.
I haven’t figured out how to control velocity. It should be 9n V = 0-127 where n is the midi channel but nothing yet I also can’t figure out why this test sometimes freeze for while. midi speed ?
thanks for ideas.

Script editor - cant type a ~
Hi,
I’m not able to type a ~ inside the scripting editor in renoise (on windows 10). Probably due to swedish keyboard layout? I can do it the hard way ( pressing alt and typing 0126 on the numpad ) so it’s not a major issue.
The normal way to type a tilde, for me, is alt.gr (or ctrl+alt) and the key south west of backspace, then pressing space. See picture below.

Renoise 3.3 on Macbook pro (mid 2012)
Hi, im interested in buying Renoise 3.3. but just wandering if it would work properly on my laptop, Macbook Pro 13-inch (mid 2012. Does anyone here have experience about this?
My specs are:
2,5 Ghz Intel Core i5
4 Gt 1600 Mhz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000, 1536 Mt
500 Gt SSD (SATA)
Im interested in how well vst plugins (like Korg Legacy, UVI’s Digital synsations etc) would perform in it… i would use probably like 2-3 vst’s simultaneously.

Recording to patterns
Will this functionality ever be added? It’d be very helpful to be able to record to patterns instead of just into the regular tracker so I can record sequences at different LPB in a song.

Project wont load
I have a project that won’t load. I can’t get a crash log to see if it’s a plugin I’m using because renoise wont actually crash, it just loads forever. I was trying some new plugins, but made sure to remove them from the plugin folders and still having the same problem. Really hope this project isn’t doomed because there’s lots of work in there. Not giving up defeat yet though.
I hit CTRL save all the time, is there a way for me to go back to a previous save state from before the crash?
I, unfortunately, didn’t have autosave on and recording versions.
Any ideas? I have a feeling this one can be figured out.

Redux disable keyboard input only for note input?
Hi,
is there a way to disable keyboard input (which triggers notes) in Redux? Other shortcuts should work (copy/paste, delete etc…)
why?
When using Redux in DAW, most likely DAW has virtual keyboard (which accepts keyboard input for midi notes) and it overlaps with redux. Sometimes this is very annoying.
Thanks

Split a wav. to fit pattern length?
So I do love renoise but one issue is that if I have a for example song wav or mp3 I have to carefully split it up to make it " fit " to my patterns or, not be able to hear it during editing further down in the song. So my question is… is there an EASY way to split a wav file up based on the length of my patterns? So I can just put a new marker at the start of each pattern for the song to continue?
It would be a lot easier if it was just song but this one has some instruments in it as well.
Suggestions?

Baby Audio's Spaced Out reverb plugin doesn't seem to work properly with sample instruments
I was loving Baby Audio’s Spaced Out reverb plugin when I discovered a weird issue in renoise. It works as expected with plugin instruments but when used with sample instruments the reverb only lasts the duration of the sample instead of continuously decaying like it should with long reverb decay settings. Both my version of renoise and spaced out are both the latest versions on windows 10.
edit: seems to only be an issue in the vst2 version, vst3 is working as expected.

Clone pattern stopped working - The operation would create more then 1000 patterns
Hi,
When I clone a pattern I get a message box that tells me:
I don’t want thousand patterns, one would be enough
Can somebody tell me how to fix this? I can’t clone a pattern anymore.

Does Renoise's mixer prevent clipping?
I recently just bought Renoise, and I was wondering if clipping only occurs on the master track. More technically, I was wondering if Renoise mixes using 32-bit (or more) floating point samples. This would mean that no matter how high the audio level of the tracks are, they won’t be clipped. Rather, when the mixer’s master track outputs the audio to the computer’s sound card (which operates in fixed-point 16- or 24-bit samples) or renders to an audio file, only then will the audio be clipped when exceeding the maximum value.
I apologize if the question is hard to understand, but I would appreciate any opinions/details regarding this, and I would also make sure to do my own tests.
Thanks in advance!

A piano roll sequencer that did not make it but was open-sourced 10 years ago…
I recently discovered I had a cracked version from years ago so am attaching over at oldschooldaw as there is no other binary ANYWHERE!..The link from alt dev is drop box long gone & no renewal…
Lotta coolness with this & would’ve kicked ass on LMMS if kept up

Saving a phrase template, …
… similar to the Save As Template Song, but for the phrase editor. BTW: It would be nice to have the possibility to create and manage more than just one default song template. Minkepatt

Phrase editor and interpolation
Hi,
I am completely new to Renoise and have a question. When I am using interpolation in the phrase editor I have trouble getting a break in sync. It is almost like a delay on the last beat before the loop starts over again. If I play the break in the pattern editor it works well. The break works well also in the phrase editor without interpolation. What am I doing wrong?

Sample modulation AHDSR timing curiosity
A little observation with the AHDSR sample modulation device. Now this all depends on how you look at it. I’m looking at this from a mathematical/programming angle.
The idea is to play a test sample which consists of a 1 second +1 sample (you’ll see in instrument 00 in the attached xrns below) and send it through the AHDSR modulation applying a 1 millisecond attack/with no curvature. So I set the AHDSR to look like:
Also (to make a small comparison) I did a similar setup in Tracktion/Waveform and rendered out the result from its sampler (the result of that is in instrument 01 of the xrns.)
In instrument 02 is my rendered out track from Renoise. Then I compared the beginning of the two samples. (Naturally you have to zoom in a lot because you want to look at the first 1-2 milliseconds of the sample(s).)
According to the Renoise minute time ruler, Waveforms ‘ramp up’ volume is 1 millisecond in length. The Renoise sample attack is more around 2 milliseconds in length before full volume is reached.
I thought what happens if I put 2.0ms in the attack time? Render out the track result (put in instrument 03). Comparing 02 and 03 instruments. To my eyes the Renoise 1ms and 2ms attack rate is very similar. I also get the feeling as though Renoise is also trying to apply some sort of very crude curvature (even though it should be completely linear?) and it looks more like 3ms has elapsed before the sample completely reaches full volume.
You probably going to say, who the hell cares? What’s 1 millisecond here or there? Nobody is going to notice. I agree, for most musicians chances are this is all a moot point. It is just an observation. Certainly a little curious algorithm/math result considering that from the users perspective they have specified a 1ms completely linear attack volume ramp up. After all that is what is specified from the user interface. You may have things like ‘anti-click’ and probably other things going on behind the scenes. But I do know that if I dial in 1ms attack time in Tracktion/Waveform I get a 1ms attack volume ramped up time sample on output (shown in instrument 01).

Retro fan here - Renoise 1.2.8
Hello, I am a registered user so I have access to old builds like 1.2.8.
I managed to install 1.9.1 which I used back in the day. And it plays fine.
But when installing 1.2.8 the following error pops up:
Also the rns.exe is only 2.8MB, a bit small. What sould I need to do? Install demo first?

Help - colour in track?
I have seen some screenshots where the track background (behind note and fx-data) also has been colourised in the same colour as the track-colour.
For me, it looks like this (i.e. the same black background):
Is it a tool/plugin that’s needed?
