Tool for recording automation slider movement?

Renoise Forum - February 12, 2019 - 16:19

Hi all!

Raul suggested I might post here, as there might be a tool to get to what I’m after. You can read the entirety of the issue in the thread here if interested (has to do with Komplete Kontrol).

Basically, Komplete Kontrol will send automation data/move sliders in the automation device, but Renoise will not record those movements, because no CC messages are being received. Without going down the rabbit hole too much, yes, we want to keep using the software, yes the midi keyboard could be forced to send CC messages but this undermines the usefulness of the software.

So, what I’m hoping for: Is there a tool that allows the movement of automation instruments sliders to be recorded? I have been using FFx’s GUI recorder with some success - but have issues after a first pass adjusting values.

Thanks for any suggestions/help ya’ll can provide!

Renoise.com login improvement

Renoise Forum - February 12, 2019 - 14:06

@ffx wrote:

Hi!

If you setup or request a new password for the renoise.com frontpage/tools section, you will have to enter an email. But for the login, you will need to enter the username instead of the email. This is suboptimal for password managers like the one built-in into Safari: It will already ask you while submitting the password-change-dialogue, if you want to update the password. Then of course the email will be auto-filled in into login. So you you will have to look into your keychain manager to find the new password, if you used Safari’s auto-generate feature.

Komplete Kontrol and Instrument Automation

Renoise Forum - February 11, 2019 - 03:09

@t35513r wrote:

Hi there!

Know this has been asked about, but not sure any clear solution. The way that Komplete Kontrol works (with the A49 keyboard, at least) is: it automaps knobs to specific parameters. However, when in this mode, it does NOT send Midi CC information. After some research, I believe it sends “automation” information.

I have been able to add an “*instrument automation” device onto a track, select a parameter I know maps to a knob. Moving the knob then is reflected in the movement of the slider. HOWEVER - it will NOT record this movement, either pattern or into slider envelopes.

Any suggested workarounds here? It’s frustrating to get to the point where I can see the sliders move, but not being able to actually record automation movement. Maybe some script that takes the movement of sliders and converts that to some sort of recordable data?

Any help most appreciated!!!

How are xrns files so small?

Renoise Forum - February 10, 2019 - 19:49

@EETTTEE wrote:

I used to use Logic and a hefty project file would be around 3-4 gigs if not more than that. A renoise song file (xrns) with the roughly equivalent amount of stuff in it is 20-40 MB (at least for something half finished). What?

Are Logic files just stupidly big or are Renoise files really small somehow? What are Ableton/FL like in this regard?

Seamless sample looper for Amiga or Mac

Renoise Forum - February 10, 2019 - 16:21

@slide wrote:

Hi Renoises!

Perhaps some of you might know a software, where you could load a wav-sample and create a seamless loop out of it? I used to have this little GUI on my Amiga, that would resample the sample a bit to find the zero points and create a perfect looped (IFF-format) to use in Protracker. But I can’t remember the name… it’s only 25 years ago

Could there be a similar software on Mac?

Thanks a bunch!!

Dune 3 , takmanger cpu increases to 50 when gui is shown

Renoise Forum - February 10, 2019 - 15:09

I am getting really pissed about this , just bringing up the gui of certain plugins increases the taskmanager cpu load .
My pc is an old I5 second gen , amd radeon graphics , still powerfull enough to run most plugins
Dune 3 has an initialsed preset , renoise cpu is 5 % , taskmananger shows 60 % , closing the gui brings the cpu load down
Dune loaded in loomer architect , no issues whatsoever …

All 64 bit , only happens in renoise

Anyone know why the LFO is not resetting back to zero on each Reset?

Clip in the link…I don’t know why it’s happening. I’ve played with the parameters on the LFO but none of them get it to reset at zero each time.

Hello !

Recently, someone asked for a meme thread dedicated to Renoise. Here it is. I have done several Renoise memes during the last 3 years. I will put them here, one per day. And of course, all of those who have other Renoise memes can add them here. With pleasure!

This one was done during Mutant Breaks #9 because I was alone in the dark of this empty rooms doing music in HEX

See you later.

Difference Between The "Instrument Automation" & "Instrument MIDI Control" META Devices?

@TheDamnChicken wrote:

I’ve noticed there are two devices I can use for controlling instruments. The manual doesn’t make it clear when I should be using which device.

What is the difference between the two devices?
Is there a performance benefit from using one or the other?

Thanks in advance!

I know this is possible in Renoise… Can it be done in Redux?

e.g. Notes are C-3, and I select them and want to convert them all instantly to C#3?

-Thx.

Edit: in Renoise can only be done with a 3rd party tool, to my knowledge, so I assume not possible in Redux :[

[?] plugin info doesn't update on dynamical PDC change

@ffx wrote:

If a vst plugin will change its required PDC dynamically, the mouse-over on the [?]-info-button still will show the old used latency, though the audio engine obviously already adapted to the new PDC. Could this may cause other bugs, too?

If you can adjust them, it’s best to listen to it with bass, treble and middle at the same level.
