What is the OS percentage for Renoise?
@younix_2 wrote:
I went 100% Linux [Ubuntu Studio 19.10] a week ago. I had been in Windows 7 for 10 years; I tried Windows 10 once and I’d rather be eaten alive by a Scorpion. I had licenses in Windows 7 for Renoise, Reaper, Mixcraft 8 and FL Studio, and technically Abelton Light that came once with my Arturia MInilab.
Best thing I ever did to go full Linux. What is the % of Linux users who use Renoise?

Single- step Playback?
@Sparky wrote:
Is it possible to single-step play through a pattern?
I have an arpeggio with a couple of notes which I’m not happy with. Usually I have to slow my pattern right down to fix this kind of problem. Is there not a way to step playback through the pattern one line at a time?

Amiga booting problem - harddrives seen as diskdrives?
@Jonas wrote:
Anyone still versed in Amiga?
Recently installed a gotek into my Amiga 2000, trying to install viruskillers and utilities to salvage old mod disks. Now I either messed up saving a corrupted mod to one of the installed harddrives, or removing a virus is the culprit, either way it won’t boot up into workbench anymore.
Booting up I get a “not a DOS disk in unit 0” in a system request window, if I do manage to get into workbench through a gotek loaded program, both harddrives are listed as; “DH0: DLT” & “DH1: DLT”. Anyone know what this means? Quick googling hasn’t brought up anything useful (yet).
I have checked for virusses and removed a CLS file which was infected with a diskmaster 2 virus (not sure if I have remembered the name correctly). But didn’t experience any problems in the days after.
Anyone know of good programs to look for (booting) errors, getting back asses to the harddrives?

Multiline_textfield hardcrash example
@joule wrote:
Granted, the following snippet produces some feedback looping, it can also make Renoise hardcrash after entering a couple of characters.
I wanted to mention it since it might have to do with multiline_textfield:clear() behaving a bit weird? It looks like it doesn’t quite know if the textfield is selected or not, after invoking :clear(). Maybe GUI engine gets confused about rendering the selection border, what do I know…
local vb = renoise.ViewBuilder() local ml_textfield = nil local gate = false local proxy_func = function() if not gate then gate = true -- ml_textfield.edit_mode = false -- uncomment this line, and it doesn't seem to crash ml_textfield:clear() end gate = false end ml_textfield = vb:multiline_textfield { width = 100, notifier = proxy_func } local test_view = vb:column { ml_textfield } renoise.app():show_custom_dialog( "", test_view )Posts: 1

Laggy Delay Sound After Playback Ends
@EliWayMusic wrote:
A brief sort of laggy clip of the midi or patterns currently active will remain playing after I’ve ended playback with the space key. I’ve attached a video of what I’m referring to so you can see what I mean. I figure it probably has to do with latency, but I’ve never seen this problem before in other DAWs. Any help? Thanks

Help with key-repeat
@dspasic wrote:
Hello guys,
I’ve installed beta version of renoise but all of a sudden when i hold my (for example Z (c3)) notes don’t repeat like it used to. For example i set step lenght to 1, enable record, put my cursor on first note, and then press & hold Z (c3) my cursor doesn’t move downward (like it would with step length 1).
my goal is to hold one note which would just enter same note and keep scrolling, but in this case, it doesn’t happen when i hold button, i have to constantly press it…
for example when i hold arrow down, it just goes to one field down and stops, same for all directions…
Now i’ve reverted to 3.2 version, and it’s the same ~ my conclusion is that this is some key-repeat function which i obviously cannot find, which i probabbly accidently pressed and cannot revert.
Can you please help?
Thanks in advance

Renoise album - uninstall everything

Greetings, folks. I’ve been mixing some tracks from a couple of mates. We used Renoise for everything. It was a fun project, something to do, you know…If it rings anybodys bell, then yeah, nice.
Any feedback on the mixing would be cool, particularly track 9. The bass sounds nifty using headphones and utterly naff using speakers.

Tool Request: Rotary FX Controls
@luisaguirre wrote:
I did a little research to see if I could make this, but I’m no programmer and I immediately felt like I was in over my head. Has anyone made or can anyone create a tool that displays FX parameters and Vol. Delay and Panning as Renoise Rotary Knobs? Basically this tool: https://www.renoise.com/tools/note-properties but including FX commands.
Maybe something already exists but I’ve searched and couldn’t find anything.

Looking for a new midi controller to use with renoise, suggestions?

Looking at the Arturia Keylab 49 mk2 or AKAI mpk249. It looks like the only one of those two with support in Renoise is the Keylab right now.
Any suggestions? Searching hasn’t yielded much, especially for a larger controller.
Thanks

The original On My Mind demo song by gemini / silents
@mostlyhands wrote:
Renoise versions 1.2, 1.25 and 1.26 came with a cool demo song called onmymind.rns that had 2 electric guitars playing in harmony. Renoise 1.27 (August 2003) and later versions came with an updated song, onmymind2.rns, that only had 1 guitar.
It’s taken me ages to find a download for the original, so I’m making this thread just to help anyone who googles “renoise on my mind nostalgia”.
None of those old Renoise demos are on https://www.renoise.com/archived-releases. I eventually found them at https://ftp.sunet.se/mirror/archive/ftp.sunet.se/pub/simtelnet/win95/musinst/ - rns12.exe rns125.exe rns126.exe rns1261.exe.
I wonder if it would be legal or polite to upload the rns or mp3 or video…

I have not thoroughly tested it in R3.2.1 b1. So I don’t know if it will affect too. I use a 150% scaling. This error occurs when turning the mouse wheel on the surface of the Renoise window. Simply, the main window closes without showing anything else.
I am using window tools, with several notifiers. Maybe they influence the mistake. But it shouldn’t happen that way. It is a critical error.

Redux - Play sample from cursor position with MIDI KB not working
@Sqeetz wrote:
Hello,
in Renoise itself the toggle to play the sample from the cursor position works as it is supposed to do. No matter if you use the typing or a MIDI keyboard.
In Redux, though, it only works with the typing keyboard. With the MIDI keyboard the sample always plays from the beginning.
I’ve tested it in Bitwig, FL Studio and in Renoise itself. It’s all the same.
