Nasty Bug With Plugin Alliance SpecOps
Run into a nasty issue with (Plugin Alliance) Unfiltered Audio SpecOps.
After a while idling or in a reload song it’s output will change to loud bursts of noise - Bad enough that could damage your hearing if on headphones. it does reset if you toggle off and on again.
Not sure if renoise specific but I thought worth mentioning here, I’ll get on to PA about it too.

Recording Multichannel Renoise Live Session
My scenario:
Waveform ReWire Master using as Recorder + Low Latency**.
Renoise ReWire Slave to work normally + benefit of live recording.
Issue: All bpm ZTxx changes are ignored for obvious reasons
Solution: Add ReWire “Sync Mode: Off”.
**when on pure laptop (no ASIO avalible) “Windows Audio” is giving me less latency than “DirectSound” - worth checking. For this reason sometimes I use this setup even when I am not live recording - just to get lower latency.

Question / Advice 5.1 speaker set, rear sound, left and right settings panning
I have a Creative Audigy Fx soundblaster 5.1 in my computer and also have a speaker on the left front, center right, front right, rear right and rear left and a subwoofer under my desk.
I see many effects and options of samples and would like to edit and place the sample volume and panning per speaker.
you see in renoise in the screen that you have waves around you so
my is is it even possible to edit that, i thought that question i had found something but have come so far that it seems like it only grabs left front right in the middle and right front. . I do have Meta at effects, then Xy Pad, but I can’t get sound left or right, are there other options I should set it up better, please advise.

Making the "loop pattern" marker follow the current pattern?
Hey there.
Pretty much everything is in the title. I mapped my patterns to the pads of my beatstep so I can switch from one pattern to another easily. But right now, I still need to move the “loop pattern” marker manually, making it kinda pointless.
Is there a trick to move the loop pattern marker with the queued pattern?

MPE Support [Feature request ]
I think as soon as Ableton drops their Push 3 and it has full MPE support this will become industry standard. I’ve seen other old threads on it and get that it’s kind of weird to think how it would work with a tracker interface. Perhaps the MPE parameters could just be recorded as pattern automation and then modified visually, kept off the tracker.
This is more of a Renoise 3.6 future standard kind of feature request. It’ll be everywhere like VST3 soon.

I Made A Commercial for Renoise
I hope more hip hop and trap producers try renoise. It’s great that a license is broke teenager priced. I’m trying to promote renoise so it gets more users & more money for development

Process Hacker Freeware
https://processhacker.sourceforge.io/
When using Renoise or any DAW in Windows it’s best to have your programs “priority” in Windows set to the highest level.
With Process Hacker you can save your priority and IO priority for certain applications so they are always highest priority whenever they open.
Renoise will perform better with its priority and IO priority set to highest and with Process Hacker you don’t have to change the settings in task manager every time you open it. Same goes for the windows sandboxed plugins and plugin scanners are hosted in.

VST2 plugin scan crashing Renoise
I’m trying to rescan with plugin sandboxing on to see if they works. Some of my vst2s (from ample) take a long time to scan and can make scans hang up.

Trap hi hat tips w/ Renoise & PRE
I bought Renoise after realizing how AMAZING the tracker workflow is for trap and hip hop music. My previous DAW for beatmaking was Bitwig, so I’ve started to notice a trend that niche DAWs targeted at electronic musicians are typically the best for trap and hip hop, but get missed by the hip hop community due to preconceptions & marketing (I don’t necessarily mean bad marketing by BW or RN, but intense marketing by specialized hip hop tools like MPC/Maschine).
It’s best to track trap drums set at 24 lines per beat, or the next highest or lowest number that is divisible by both 3 and 4, allowing easy switching between normal hi hats and triplets, triplet rolls, etc. You can stagger your rolls as well thanks to the Delay function, producing speeding up and slowing trap drum rolls I’ve achieved before with Bitwig 4’s Operator functions.
But the problem is it’s very unwieldy to track at 24 LPB. That’s where Piano Roll Editor comes in
New tool (3.3.2): Piano Roll Editor v8.5 build 326 (September 2021) Renoise Tools WHAT IS THE “PIANO ROLL EDITOR”? The “Piano Roll Editor” or also called “PRE” as an abbreviation is a tool for the representation and advanced notes editor for the DAW Renoise (current version 3.3.2 of 64 bit, and future). Basically it is a piano roll arranged vertically, with a top bar of controls, a grid that represents the roll and surrounded by two virtual pianos, a small upper one and a larger lower one. In addition, the PRE is much more than a piano roll. Not only is it a great note edit…
By adjusting the shading in PRE side by side with or instead of the pattern editor, you can easily adjust the shading to highlight where your triplets and quarter notes should fall at different speeds in different places throughout the song without having to change your LPB in the pattern editor or getting confused.
I haven’t tried the PRE with phrase editor yet - I assume it works the same - but the phrases are also amaaaaaaazing for trap producers. Using that you can keep your pattern editor LPB at 4 and setup just different phrases’ LPB to accommodate different speeds and divisions for trap rolls.
Renoise is THE daw for trap imo.

New Tool: (3.3) Kick A Copy (Sept 2021)
New Alpha,
Needs a bit of care to make sure it works correctly but I’m using this a lot so posting up if useful to others:
ledger.scripts.KickACopy_V0.5.xrnx
Kick A Copy
- Have a drum track
- Render a note from that track, making sure the popup matches the note you are rendering.
- Click the ‘After Render’ Button (make sure original track is still selected in renoise)
A new cloned track is created with your render. You can A/B it with the original with the toggle switch. You can also disable the original track and all its DSPs with the button further down. You need to make sure the original track is selected in renoise before you hit the Disable/Enable button
Once track names are changed the tool won’t recognise an original vd render pair.
Related Tool:
True Track Bypass uses the same method to bypass tracks, so you can get an overview of tracks bypassed by this tool

Tool development: Arturia KeyLab Essential mkI
Hi guys!
I’m developing a tool for Arturia KeyLab Essential mkI. There is a tool already in place for MkII, but is not entirely compatible with mkI.
I’m a bit disappointed with this keyboard as the keybed doesn’t feel so good for its price, and also since it seems to handle MCU protocol for transport related stuff, is not working out of the box with Renoise.
My specific question is if there are other owners for KeyLab Essential, and if that’s so, which features you will consider useful.
Currently developing under GNU/Linux with the 49 keys version, and having great results so far. The dial knob is great for changing line position, and I’m using one of the right side buttons for switching its behavior from changing line position to instrument selection.
Right now I’m only focused on making it work properly, then perhaps I will add some UI stuff to it. If any of you is interested on this project, I can upload it to Github.

Game Controller for Renoise?
Hi there! I’m revisiting Renoise again after spending a couple weeks diving back into LSDJ. I’m aware they’re extremely different but I’m curious if anyone has had any success using a game controller to interact with the program?
I did some preliminary searches of the forum and wasn’t able to really find much, and I see some people trying to use the controllers as midi/performance devices, which isn’t exactly what I’m going for.
If not, that’s cool. Just wishful thinking!

Renoise with the Surface Dial?
Amazon’s got surface dials 33% off right now and I’m thinking about picking one up to use with elephant to control parameters in renoise. Hopefully I’ll be able to just mouse over parameters and turn them with the dial since Renoise doesn’t support controlling sliders with the scroll wheel.
Does anyone here use a surface dial with Renoise to move sliders? Does everything work as expected?
