Today I've learned
Post things here you’ve just learnt or mentioned recently…
Mine:
By default, Renoise will lay the slices out in consecutive order, using both white and black keys. If you’d prefer to only use the white keys for triggering your slices, click the arrow next to the Drum Kit button in the toolbar above the keyzones display and choose “Use White Keys Only”. Then click the Drum Kit (short for “Generate Drum Kit”) button and the slices will be repositioned to white keys only. To change the starting key for the slices, edit the note value labelled “from”.

Show/Hide sample number column destroys assignments in pattern
Hi,
I much prefer using Redux like Renoise where I just load a bunch of samples and traverse this list with +/- … whichever is selected will be inserted at cursor in pattern editor - thats the essence of speedy tracking for me.
In order to do this in Redux I assume the ‘show/hide sample column’ button must be used? This was fine until i toggled it off/on which obliterated my instrument number assignments in the pattern!
Might be a bit of a bug there?
Cheers

Where to find artist packs after installation?
Hi there
I just downloaded the Psudaform Artist Pack from the Backstage area and dragged it on to Renoise. But I’m not sure where the instruments etc. ended up! Where would I find these? They’re not in my default samples/instruments folder, nor can I find them on the plugin dropdown or instrument browser on the righthand side.
Anyone know where they go?
Cheers!

Settings Renoise, Edit and then to Preferences , then to Audio , then you get Device settings
Settings dolby surround 5.1, in Renoise and Utility Asio 4 all v2.15 this program is needed to divide the 5.1 speakers into the tracks. so the sound comes from different sides. I’m working on a song with a lot of samples which costs a lot of CPU, I just don’t have my settings in order yet because I don’t really know the right adjustment, of 2 rogramma,s that together should work it seems to me that the values of certain settings must be equal, I have a picture can someone explain to me, which sample rate I can best use. Buffer size , and sing offset, in any case I get interference at some moments in the sound , and high CPU., Kind regards Marc De Zeeuw

Switch patterns by midi Program change?
Hello
After playing with Octatrack connected as a master clock and midi-controller for Renoise, i’ve been trying to find a way to switch Renoise’s patterns via midi Program Change from Octa, similarly to how Elektron boxes handle this themselves, with no luck. Is this possible at all? Is there kinda tool or something? Might this be as a feature request for further updates?
Thanks

Malfunction in my song, noise, high cpu, samples processing,?
what exactly is needed to use a lot of tracks in renoise full of samples in a short time playback without sound disturbances and high CPU, more memory in your computer, better cooling of the processor, i now have an intel i7 core processor, i also make a 5.1 sound dolbysurround , using a program called asio 4 all to use during renoise that is also needed to divide the tracks over the different speakers, can someone give me some explanation ?

Renoise & WASGEN OPL-3 Sample generator
Main music of this animation all done in Renoise (including cassette tape emulation) and the WASGEN tone generator. Wanted a 90s PC sound card synth with OPL-3 FM synthesis sort of sound, so I spent a couple hours gathering the sounds. Animation also on TikTok.

246 tracks in a song in use. sound problems, high cp
dear people, I’m working on something a number 5.1 dolbysurround.
it has effects in it, different volumes, does it depend on the sound card I have now . or should I really go for an intel core I9 to stop the disturbances in the sound. I now have an Intel core I 9
please help and advice, I definitely want to do something about it because I love to make music, I look for all limits in my wish, when I see demo songs from renoise, 246 tracks is a lot for the song I’m working on

Vital patch changes when I render it
Windows: bx_limiter (Brainworks) VST is falsely detected as mono plugin (with one side-chain input)
Thanx Taktik for this wonderful DAW -
I used for a long Time 3.2.2 because it is the best Version for my CPU (Lenovo T480 - Notbook) - I don´t need the Sidechain- and the VST3-Function …
Now i have testing the new 3.4.(1) - and i have the first VST-Problem ever with Renoise - i used very much Arturia, UVI and PlugInAlliance stuff - and now one of my important Limiter-Tool - the great easy and simple bx_limiter (Brainworks) does not work in stereo ! Only in Mono !
Can anyone help me ? Or have anyone the same Problem ?

Shutting down observables
hello,
i fighting with observables a little.
I create an instrument and then a sample.
I connect notifiers /I could handle it/ but how do I disconnect it all when I close the tool ?
Checking for tool.visible in tool.app_idle_observable ?
if tool is not visible then remove notifiers ?
which way is the right one ?
thanks

Xrni sounds different in Redux
I use Redux mainly for instruments that use a lot of CPU to render it to samples and i just came across a problem that the instrument sounds different when i play it directly in Renoise compared to when i play it through Redux.
Try this instrument, it is just one single sample stretched in texture mode:
Grain Pluck 1.xrni (688.6 KB)
It sounds quite nice in Renoise, but when i load it up in Redux it doesn’t sound very appealing at all.
Edit: I play the instrument at 180 BPM and 12 LPB, it will sound different in different speeds.
How is this so? Is there way to fix it?

Start recording and play on keystroke function?
Not essential but it’d be nice to have the recording and play start when keys are played because it takes me a few seconds from when I hit the play button to when I hit the notes which leaves a gap at the beginning.

Ignoring Track Velocities?
This might be for the Help, Support & Bugs category if it already is a thing but if it isn’t I guess it’s an Idea & Suggestion.
Is it possible to ignore the entered Track Notes velocities entered they’d already been entered, perhaps by checkbox or something similar without having to change the volume number after each note, copying the track for and edit or some other similar hack but just an effect or option to do so?
