I made some instruments using my mic, free use
hey there.
Here is a small demo of the instruments i made (right click → save file), it contains:
- glockenspiel
- kalimba
- jew’s harp
- me singing “oooh” (badly) across almost 3 octaves
- violin (legato, staccato and pizzicato)
i used a Rode NT1-A mic for recording.
thx to sarkanz for the violin playing, she’s awesome.
enjoy!

How to recreate this main melody synth?
https://www.youtube.com/embed/9Ty-qFZZPZk
Hi, i want to recreate this main melody synth from the beginning of the song listed above, however i can’t seem to recreate it properly.
I try to recreate it using sawtooth wave that has 6 voice unison layers and low detune, automate the envelope to make it plucky and make another envelope to automate the analog filters to go from highs to the mid-highs, add some effects like distortion and multi-band compression to it, and then randomize the pitch to go randomly from 0.00 to 0.20 semitones, however it doesn’t sound like it’s close to the original sound at all. I really like the synth and would love to use it in my future compositions, anyone could help? I’m using Serum and Vital.

Keyboard shortcuts with Logitech MX master mouse issue
I am using an Logitech MX master mouse on a mac with Renoise, it is possible to assign single key shortcuts to the mouse but not more than a single key shortcut, if anyone thinks they might have a solution I would be super pleased

Plugin grabber is very slow compared to rendering to sample
I’m rendering a plugin to a new instrument, it’s set up to render a single sample for ~3 seconds, looping is not set. It takes about 3 seconds to finish. When I set up a note in the sequencer for 3 seconds and render it, it completes in the blink of an eye.
I did another test with 10 seconds, and the sequencer render to sample took about a second, whereas render plugin to samples took about 10 seconds.
It’s almost as if render plugin to sample is happening in real time rather than using an offline render.
Is that the case? And if so, is there a way to offline render so that it goes a lot faster? I want to render a bunch of bigger instruments, and would prefer if it went faster like it does on sequencer render.

LABRADOR ; breakcore-ish
Because you start with good intentions, but it’s a tracker and you end up making loud break choppage…

No sound with Superwave VST's
Hi,
I’m having an issue when using the Superwave Equinoxe (or any other VSTs of Superwave) with Renoise: there’s no sound and I cannot register the free edition --pushing the Register button in the VST window has no result.
I did start Renoise with admin rights (per [Solved] No Sound With Superwave? ), but there’s still no sound.
Further, setting admin rights for AudioPluginServer32 and AudioPluginServer64 didn’t change anything.
Toggling the “run plug-ins in separate memory space” option also didn’t improve anything.
There is CPU activity while running the plugin and the note-on commands appear to reach it.
Both x86 and x64 versions of the VST plug-in exhibit the same behavior.
I tried Renoise versions 2.8, 3.2.1, 3.4.0 and 3.4.2, all with the same outcome.
My OS is Win10 x64.
Any hint is more than welcome
Thank you!

Mountainbiking with William Basinski
Hi!
When I filmed this in mars I had William Basinski in my headphones, the disintegration loops, the time when he used only one loop and had it spin for hours. The life and death of a melody. Guess I was inspired and made some “one loop only” tracks. Well duplicated, chopped, played reversed and what not. Enjoy!

Set what line has the highlighted beat
when setting the lines per beat to play a triplet it often causes the highlighted beat to be offset after its over, is there a way to tell it to align as “every xth line from y” instead of just “every xth line from 00” when i change the lines per beat midway through a pattern

AwesomeWM floating windows config
Just wanted to share a quick tip for those who use Awesome (a tiling window manager for Linux/Xorg). To avoid issues with floating windows like dialogs, modals, etc, add the following settings in your rc.lua in the awful.rules.rules section:
{ rule = { class = "Renoise" }, properties = { titlebars_enabled = false, placement = awful.placement.no_offscreen } }, { rule = { class = "Renoise Plugin Server" }, properties = { titlebars_enabled = true } },1 post - 1 participant

RenoiseGPT - a tool based on ChatGPT for generating renoise tools/scripts
Hopefully coming someday soon to you… RenoiseGPT!
I’ve attached a collection of a few of the tools generated so far purely with ChatGPT. I’m looking to see if it works for real-world requests (along with doing a heck of a lot of debugging so that it can all exist in a single renoise tool), so if you’re interested in (once again) contributing to RENOISE SCIENCE, post a tool you’d like to exist and I’ll see if I can make RenoiseGPT create it!
Also, LMK if you’re interested in contributing!

New compo with interesting criteria
You can create a production in any sub-genre of “Electronic Music”. Doesn’t matter if it’s Techno, Trance, Electronica, Chiptunes, Synthwave, Drum and Bass, Electro-Industrial / Electronic Body Music, Ambient Electronic, Chill-Out/Lo-Fi, etc. As long as you make music, and have a great time while doing so. My only request is, that you focus more on “electronic instruments”. Meaning: maybe check out a synthesizer you haven’t used before.

What is the function for MIDI Clock Sync?
Hi, I hope I am in the right category for my matter!!
I am currently trying to add my very own MIDI Mapping to the GlobalMidiActions.lua file for toggling MIDI Clock Sync, as it is not midi mappable inside of Renoise.
If you are not familiar about it: this feacture syncs Renoise (as a MIDI slave), to the MIDI master.
Here is what I am talking about: File:3.2 transportpanel-midislaveclock.png - Renoise User Manual
My idea is to activate the feature on a midi controller during a live session to sync both Renoise instances.
Then I would deactivate the feature and fix the BPM with something like an endless encoder.
I really do hope this feature is possible with some LUA coding, as it would it heavily extend Renoise for live performance.

Disabling current sequence from the pattern editor
Hi
Is there a shortcut to disable the current track in the current pattern?
just like how you would in the sequence matrix with alt-click or Enter. but from the pattern editor.
