Move the cursor instead of scrolling the pattern

June 13, 2019 - 01:54

@natraj wrote:

Hi devs,

I would love to have the option of a different way editing and scrolling is done.

At the moment, the cursor is always in the middle of the screen. When you move up or down, the whole pattern is scrolling up or down. This may be good when dealing with large patterns - but 64 lines do fit perfectly fine on my screen even with big font size, is is unnecessary to scroll at all.

It would be really a convenience if I could lock the screen, and just move the cursor around. Would be way easier on the eyes, the moving parts only be the song position and cursor, you would have always the whole pattern in view.

How to convert SQ80 and ESQ1 waveROM from .bin to .wav?

June 11, 2019 - 21:25

@brinemeister wrote:

I want to cut up the SQ80 and ESQ1 waveROMs into single cyle waveforms.
Someone did the Monowave and the first of the SQ80 waveROMs already here:

Monowave and EnsoniqSQ80 wavpacks, instrument packs, wavemaps (free download) General Discussion I cut up the monowave and SQ80 full ROMs into individual waves and oneshot samples. I also included ‘wavemaps’ showing the start and end points of the individual waveforms in the full ROMs for anyone who wants to try and scan a loop accross them them using the ‘loop control’ tool. There is also tuning information ( check the readme ). I tuned all the waves, saved them all as renoise instruments inside a renoise song file. They are great, please enjoy. Get the wavs, tuned renoise instruments …

There are another 3 SQ80 waveROMs and 2 ESQ1 waveROMs to be chopped into single cycles on this website (under ‘SQ80 waveforms’ and ‘ESQ1 waveforms’):

http://www.buchty.net/ensoniq/

These should be great single cycle packs to build custom synths from in renoise but I cant get the .bin (which are contained in the .zip downloads) converted into .wav.
How can I do this? I have tried converting them to .iso and mounting a virtual drive. It doesnt work. I have tried several .bin to .wav converters online. They dont work. Any idea how I can convert these .bin waveROMs to .wav successfully? Then I can start chopping them up into single cycles, finally I can put links to download the single cycles on renoise forum when Im finished

Rendered track contains sound from end of song?

June 11, 2019 - 16:16

@t35513r wrote:

Hoping this is legit a “beginner’s” question and something more complicated is not going on. Sometimes when I render a song, I hear what sounds like bits from the end of the song playing at the beginning. Like, maybe if there is a reverb or whatnot on the last few notes it seems to “echo” into the beginning of the song too?

Anyone else experience this? Any advice?

Apreggiator /Sequencer

June 11, 2019 - 07:25

@ArturRembe wrote:

The only thing i miss in renoise ist the apreggiator in the effect channel.
A typical apreggiator with octaves 1-4 up /down /up-down/ random and “user” to type noten in 64?! Steps.
I would say, this should be possible.

Sidechaining with Midi - In (not Audio)

June 10, 2019 - 09:10

@LofiMat wrote:

Hi there

I was wondering if it is possibel to implent a Sidechain-funktion in the next Renoise - Version.
But not with using Audio as the Input (vst3) instead using Midi - In as the SC - Trigger (vst)?

Miight be another Noob-Q but Renoise already can send Miditriggers to an Instrument and VST3 will not be implement the next Version, like TakTik already said. Also the vst2 workaround using audio in as the trigger doesnt seem easy to do in Renoise as many posts say.

So is a Midi-Trigger as inputsignal for Sidevhaining an Option for Renoise? Maybe it is already possibel too in Renoise 3.11 and I just don have thhe right Plugs to do so? Dank

Is this it for Renoise & Trackers as a DAW?

June 7, 2019 - 21:38

@lain wrote:

Did we Reach the end of what can be done with a Tracker DAW?

Throughout my Journey with trackers since 1996, Renoise delivered all that i could ask for in terms of professional music making year after year. Every big update was something very important and needed. (3.0 is my main DAW btw).

Renoise, imo has been the last bastion for what a Tracker DAW should and could be, with features that any music producer working within a Tracker should be happy and contempt with.

Now Sure, there are new developments and new ways to make music making in general easier, faster and more easy to use commands etc that would make Renoise a “better” tracker in terms of Quality of use.

But in my opinion, the reason Renoise has literally stopped updating is the fact that, you can not do that much more in terms of a Tracker.
Alright, 4k double monitor support, Small extra features that improve quality of use… but a 4.0 Renoise?
I don’t see a huge new update that could change the “game” for what a Tracker DAW could be.

In a sense, in my perspective, Renoise is a “Perfect Tracker” DAW… (in b4 PianoRoll).

I want to know if anyone has any “huge idea” change/update ideas, within a Tracker DAW sense.
I don’t mean small changes like (you can flip the Up/Down to Left/Right note progression), I’m talking about something new within a Tracker DAW, something that would rival regular modern DAW’s.

For me at least, im fully happy with 3.0.

Pick up instrument's CC changes as automation without pre mapping

June 7, 2019 - 19:24

@super8 wrote:

¡Hello!
I’m playing with a nord modular with certain patches configured to control parameters via MIDI and it’s knobs.

If I initialize recording and play, Renoise records automations to the pattern. It perfectly recognizes the parameter changes and records them into the pattern. But it can only record one parameter at a time, so I want to use automation to avoid one parameter changes stepping into the other ones and erasing them.

If I click on the option to write automations into envelopes, then nothing gets recorded. Apparently i have to previously map parameters into the *MIDI control device before being able to automate them.

This greatly diminishes the posibility of improvisation, especially on a synth that’s differently mapped on every patch. Also, I think it’s weird that it works when recording into the pattern and doesn’t work when using the more advanced and newer autmoation.

I hope i’m getting something wrong and it’s possible to automate non previously mapped CC changes in any way.
