Linux: detachable mixer on separate "desktop"

Just downloaded 3.2, looks great!
I can’t figure out how to move a detached mixer to another “desktop”. Am I missing something? I’m running xfce4 on linux.

Mac: VST exception errors when loading Softube Modular
@psumner wrote:
When I load the latest version of Softube Modular VST in Renoise 3.2, I nearly always get this error dialog after the initial loading pause completes and the VST’s window appears:
In my testing, this typically appears just after loading the plug-in, but occasionally, it doesn’t. In those cases, the plug-in was usable, but the error appeared when I saved the Renoise project or right-clicked the stop button to halt all DSP and devices.
Running plug-ins in a sandbox had no effect, nor did toggling the options that are accessible via the [?] button. The VST loads and runs without issue in Bitwig.
I’m running 64-bit Renoise 3.2.0 on an early 2013 15-inch 2013 MacBook Pro with a 2.8 Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, and Nvidia GeForce GT 650M/Intel HD 4000 GPU. Operating system is macOS 10.14.6. Using built-in audio device.
I reported the issue to Softube. Unfortunately, Renoise is not one of their officially supported DAWs, so tech support isn’t available, but at least they’re aware of the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

[CVR] Ace Beaming Sun – Yor Theng [Remix Competition]
@U4iC wrote:
Ace Beaming Sun is at it again with this one, bringing us some new sounds and inspiration from Thailand. It is without a doubt the beautiful environment helped to play a role as muse during the production of this album. Straying away from the commercialized sounds of the EDM world, Just Doin’ Yor Theng is a bit more on the experimental side with a progressive house/techno vibe. We have chosen the title track of this release, Yor Theng to present as new remix competition!

MIDI CC to VST as automation?
@leaphion wrote:
I’d like to input MIDI CC as automation to a VST, but I’m not sure if that’s even possible?
The use case here is that East West Play VST uses MIDI CC 1 as volume for certain sample instruments, thus I’d like to draw the changes as automation curves instead of the pattern commands (which I’m aware is a possibility to accomplish this currently).

Overlay visuals of the modulation effects on waveforms
@kdgh wrote:
Couldn’t really find the right topic for this, but it would be super super awesome if the visuals of, let’s say, the envelope or any other modulation used can be shown over the visuals of the waveform?
If the visuals fit in comparison with the resolution and the timing of the waveform, then you could use your eyes as well when certain modulation needs to start in terms of the waveform.
Basically this as an example:

Help make an ambient rain mixer
@pwr wrote:
I’m fairly new to Renoise, but couldn’t resist making an ambient rain mixer. I listen to this nightly to help me sleep. So far it’s pretty basic, so I’d love to see what others would do to improve it!

One thing I love is the maYbe effect to control the frequency of thunder. Something else I’d like to do is have the wind and rain randomly shift in heaviness.

Studio Monitors, Room Treatment
@lilith wrote:
Curious what speakers you use and if you have your room treated.
I recently moved into another room ca. 35m2. I have two +10dB room modes at 70 and 140 Hz and built 8 big bass traps and several absorbers for the early reflection points. The effect on the decay times was massive, but the frequency response changed very little.
I have the Presonus Eris 5 at the moment, but want to buy somwthing better next year. Maybe Neumann KH120? Something down to 40Hz would be nice but lower will cause more room problems again. I have a large mode at 45Hz that I can measure with the Eris 5, but is almost inaudible as the speakers only go down to 60Hz.

Crossover phase distortion for sound design

When you using multiple Multiband send's in one FX chain, you can create interesting sounding side effects. Don't forget to play around with the effect parameters. #renoise #daw #tipoftheday #trackermusic #sounddesign https://t.co/botLEUvE9t

Just use a FX chain and add a Multiband send effect there, then duplicate it several times, so the crossover phase distortion is more noticeable. I find this kind of effect useful on pluck sounds, rolling style-basslines or sometimes also kick samples. Depends on your source material and what you want to archive.
To bad, you cant Doofer these chains. Multiband send effects are also not possible to use as in normal track effects, because it’s forced to connect with send channels. Maybe this restriction can be removed like in FX chains.
You can create similar effects with Fabfilter’s Saturn and in Reason with the Vocoder (in EQ mode).

Key binding to close all open plugin windows
@linq wrote:
Hello. I’ve searched around on the forums a bit but wasn’t able to find a solution to my problem.
I have a bunch of VST plugin windows open, with no good way of closing them. They’re always-on-top so they’re disruptive to using the renoise interface
I know that I can individually close each of those by clicking on the “editor” button, but that’s not very helpful when you’ve got a large number of instruments already open, and need to quickly close them.
How can I quickly close all VST plugins without having to go instrument by instrument and click on the “editor” button for each of them?
If it’s not possible to do this in the default interface, is it possible to write a tool that will do this for me? Is the functionality of hiding plugin editor windows exposed through the tool API?
Thank you for your help.

[Techno] Mar io - We're Living For EP
@Cie wrote:
Hello,
after the vinyl release by Mar io on Form & Terra Records and the mini album “Listen to my heart” on Broque there is now the latest EP by Mar io called “We’re Living For” auf Form & Terra Records.
On the EP are two tracks from Mar io: The original version of “We’re Living For” and a new “Morning Mix” from the track “Through The Night”. In addition, the vinyl has generated so much positive response that even more remixes of Ucleden, Peter F. Spiess and me have emerged, so that a completely new EP has arisen, which now complements and completes the vinyl release in digital form.
It would be great if you have a listen to the complete tracks here:
The EP has just been released and is available here:
beatport, juno, spotify oder itunes.
If you like to listen to the vinyl:

Please add VST3 support
@EnergyCrush wrote:
After using Renoise for 15+ years now, and VST3 support being needed for years now with zero response or understanding from Renoise devs, I’m done. With the release of Reason 11, and the incredible adoption not only of VST2.4 previously, but now VST3, I have zero reason to sit around waiting for Renoise devs. It just doesn’t make sense sitting around waiting for Renoise’s incredibly slow, if ever, responses to the community for this and other requests that have been highly desired for a great deal of time. What makes sense is a company that is showing it is dedicated to listening to it’s customers, and in moving forward to support them.

DocumentList and XML hierarchy?
@joule wrote:
Regarding renoise.Document:
Is it possible to use the save_as/load_from methods to load XML files with more than one depth? (example below). Since renoise.DocumentList don’t have those methods, maybe not?
I’ve also tried to construct the document by using a template table without success. And I’ve tried to load a manually made XML to no avail. I’m guessing that the only extra depth possible for lists is the one provided by ObservableBool/Number/StringList ?
I could workaround by starting to name the elements “Element1”, “Element2” et c, but wanted to check here first if it’s possible to achieve what I want.

Some Redux suggestions: Mixer, Drum Keyzone Mode, Drag out .wav Loop to DAW
@helltrack wrote:
Nerve from Xfer (Drum Machine Plugin) has this great feature where you can just quickly drag out a rendered version of you loop to the daw, would be a great feature for Redux patterns.
Would also be to have a simple 16 knob volume mixer (with pages if there are more samples) at the top (where also the Macros reside). If you use Redux / Sampler as a drum module it would be great to be able to set the volume relationships of the individual samples quickly this way.
Also maybe consider changing the Modulation section to a Modulation Mixer section, meaning that if a sample is set to “none” it wouldn’t sound at all if trigged, and if it’s set to multiple Modulation Sets it would sound multiple times (with individual pitch, volume, pan mod settings). This would be so great for doing pan, pitch, delay modulations on the right and left channel to widen and experiment on a single sample.
I also wouldn’t mind an additional GM Drum Pad Assign mode in Addition to the Keyzone Mode.
