Improving routing of an instrument into a group of tracks
Hi,
currently I am using the instrument section mainly for drumsets. Often I have some dsp processing/routing going on in the dsp lanes. If I now leave the routing to “current track” for all dsp lanes, but using the differrent drums on different tracks within a group, Renoise cannot manage the track processing anymore and instead will jump from track to track based on the appearance of a note.
But… Couldn’t exactly this fixed by having a “mixdown to track” option or similar? So the whole instrument was treated like a plain sample? I am even not sure why this has to happen. Looks to me like it could be easily fixed, so you still could use the drumset on any track you want, as long as all routing is set to “current track”…?

Bandcamp alternatives
The thought of Epic Games owning Bandcamp is very unpleasant and want to hop ship to another platform that supports indie artists that want little to none corporate BS. What alternatives are there that are just as competitive Bandcamp? Been contemplating itch.io for awhile. What’s your thoughts?

Confused about downloading Dexed on Linux
On their website I only see a way to download the PC and macos version of the plugin. I know the plugin is supported on linux so I’m just curious how I can actually download it.
Any ideas?

Reaktor plugin in Renoise question
Hello,
I have a modular patch made in Reaktor Blocks that I want to bring into Renoise. This patch does not require notes to be played in Renoise. The patch starts playing when I hit play in Renoise. The problem is that this patch plays through the master section of the Mix area, instead of a track. How can I redirect the Reaktor patch’s audio so that it plays through one of the Renoise tracks that is not the master track? Any assistance is much appreciated.

New tool (experimental build) Maciulxochitl
Hello,
So on Friday night I decided that I would also like to write some extension for Renoise.
I didn’t know how to do it so I watched a few videos about Lua on YT.
On Saturday morning I read some minimum about the Renoise API and got into it.
Here is the first result.
cz.martblek.Macuilxochitl_04_03_22.xrnx (39.6 KB)
The code is ugly but it still works.
I have a few more things in my head but I wouldn’t like to learn
some ugly things in Lua that I would get used to very quickly.
I would like you to reveal to me all the errors I have in the code.
Just don’t write to me that I use “tonumber” a lot there,
I forgot to clean it up
thanks for the comments.

Some "witcher"-stuff made in renoise
A friend of mine has this action when someone cheers on him. I always thought, I want to “recut” his vocals and make it more “epic”
Classicals sounds with renoise, Kontakt, BBC Orchestra.

How is the plugin identifier determined for macos VST2s?
Hi,
the recent version of OBXD vst2 for macos was renamed to OB-XD. Since only the OB-XD one supports M1 natively, I would like to “patch” the plugin so it also appears as OBXD plugin identifer. I remember that I successfully did this a couple of times in the past, but this time I seem to miss something. Maybe binary patching?
How exactly is the identifer for macos VST2 determined? Is the Info.plist used at all? Does only the executable file name matter?
Thanks.

Renoise tool gui update
hello,
How to effectively refresh all gui widget with new loaded values ?
don’t I have to write each loaded value separately to the widget id ?
Which seems to work but it’s time consuming
thanks.

Hard clip? how?
Does anyone have a solution to hard-clip a signal in renoise using the internal devices? I would like to set a specific level, for example 0 dB, and everything above that would be cut. Just, like a brick wall limiter.
There may already be a solution inside renoise that I haven’t noticed.
I’ve tried:
- Maximizer - it’s too nice, it shapes the clipping. Settings:
Resullt (above = before,below = after)
- Distotion, razor setting. Seems to have a fixed bottom at -3.6 db? please note that i have set track headrooms to 0 if that´s part of the behaiour) Settings:
Result:
Below is my desired result… →
If I use external plugin to hard clip (external plugin that I would like to avoid):

Renoise stops showing up as a Rewire device in ACID after update
I just got 3.4.1 and now Renoise doesn’t appear as a Rewire device in ACID. This could also be Magix’s fault because ACID is so buggy but it did work before the update. I just need to sync the transports.

How to remove tape hiss?
So I recorded a Sony MC-90 through Audacity and I’m loading up some of the clips I recorded into Renoise and I’m wondering - how to remove tape hiss? Perhaps this is a beginner’s question, I know I can use EQ to sort of get rid of this problem but it still leaves the sample pretty muffled, so I’m wondering what more advanced techniques you guys use, or if any tips? Thanks

Bit.ror and bit.rshift difference?
I’m getting into bitwise operations, but google won’t help me. It makes quite a lot of sense to handle chords and scales with bit operations, easily inverting chords by bit shifting and whatnot.
What is the difference of bit.ror and bit.rshift? I tried to use bit.ror(n, 1) in the hopes that the very least significant bit would rotate to the most significant (16-bit?), which isn’t the case. Bit.ror(n,1) seems to omit the first bit just like rshift does, not really rotating at all. Maybe someone could clarify a bit?
PS. I figured a while loop using bit.ror would be a clever/simple way of identifying the position of the first bit being set.

renoise.Document() behaviour [solved]
So I thought I’d release my first plugin today,
but for the sake of improvement, I’ve completely screwed it up.
Everything I needed worked beautifully before I thought I’d also want to save the settings.
It occurred to me to use the Document class instead of global variables.
All variables I replaced the references to Document. But I didn’t do that.
For example FREQUENCY_1 I referred to Document () Config.osc.frequency1.value everywhere in the code.
But because of this my code has slowed down by at least 1000% !!!
It is normal ?
thanks.

Sluggish Animation/UI in M1 Big Sur (3.4.1)
I’ve installed the latest 3.4.1 version of Renoise running natively on my M1. The overall animation of the meters and scopes are extremely slow, feels like 15 fps.
The 3.3.1 version of renoise runs perfect on this machine, no slowdown or sluggishness at all.

ReNoise can't "find" VST3
Hi all,
I am trying to load a VST3 into ReNoise from the standard VST3 file pathway but Renoise can not find it. I think this is probably a problem on ReNoise’s end because Ableton is able to “find” the VST. I have done a rescan, reinstall, and restart. Any further things I should try?
I am using Windows 10.
Thanks!

Renoise graphical interface + Shading
top: without shading
bottom: with shading
@taktik do you think it is possible to add (graphical) shading into the Renoise interface? it will create a little more calculating for the CPU, so it should be enabled/disabled - able.
