Redux crashing Mixbus-Ardour
Hi,
i have problem with Mixbus. I’m using Renoise Redux(vst) in Mixbus on Linux Slackware and Mixbus is crashing when two instances of Redux is loaded on separated track.
Steps to reproduce problem:
-
Load Mixbus.
-
Insert 2 midi tracks with Renoise Redux plugin without fan out.
-
On first instance of Redux: Editor->Modulation add Envelope modulation to Volume, move some parameters. Everything is OK.
-
On second instance of Redux, same steps: Editor->Modulation add Envelope modulation to Volume, try to move some parameter and BOOM CRASH!! !
sry for my bad English

What is the dithering situation when running on linux?
I am running on Ubuntu and don’t see the dithering option in the audio tab of preferences. Is the dithering configured through JACK?. I just want to make sure I am not dithering twice when I master it in Ardour…
I searched a couple similar questions, but didn’t find the answers I was looking for so any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Looking for a Drupal expert to update the Renoise main website. Do you know someone?
Hi all,
Renoise’s main website at https://www.renoise.com is still using Drupal 7, which is soon reaching the end of its life and also generally needs an overhaul with a proper responsive theme and some other feature updates.
So I’m looking for someone to help us out by taking care of the update and, if possible, adding a few more features to the existing site as well.
If you are a Renoise user (which you probably are if you are reading this), have experience with PHP and Drupal and want to help, that would be great. This would be a real job with pay - not for fun - still can be fun though
Thing’s that are ToDo:
- Upgrade existing Drupal 7 core of renoise.com to Drupal 9. This includes rewriting/updating a bunch of custom modules for the Renoise tool pages.
- Create a new responsive design. We got a few drafts for this, but are open to for new design as well. This is creative work, not copy and paste.
- Rework/rewrite content of a bunch of existing very old pages.
I’ll provide more details in private for anyone who’s interested.
If you are interested or know someone who might be, please send me a PM or contact me at taktik AT nameofthissoftware DOT com.
Thanks!

Moving Renoise VSTs To A New PC
Hello,
Wondering if anyone can help?
I have updated my Windows 10 64 bit music computer to a new more powerful machine. I have installed Renoise 3.3 on the new machine and copied the VST folders from the old machine to the new one in the same folder locations to where they are on the old machine. Then, I have copied the user/app data/ roaming/Renoise folder from the old computer to the new computer. I run Renoise and all the plugins show up the same as the other machine. Some work, but some are requiring a re-install. However, some of these plug-ins are old and I no longer can find the activation or serial for them. Does anyone know of a way of transferring the plug-ins over to? Or I am stuck with having to shell out to buy them again?
Thanks.

Help with routing midi data through to a VST?
Hello. I have a VST, Duck, which can use midi to trigger an envelope. However, I’m not sure how to route this (fairly new to Renoise). Essentially, I want the envelope to trigger every time the kick and snare hits. In Ableton, this requires two midi tracks (one for kick, one for snare). Is that so in Renoise? Do I need specific devices to route this? Does each step with a note on it submit midi data? Thank you all!

Is it possible to use the same plugin with different configurations simultaneuosly?
I have a wonderful VST3 plugin, which has many different presets that I would love to use in my compositions.
What I am trying to do: I am loading the same VST plugin in different instrument slots, and trying to choose presets for each of them. But it is not working, and it looks like, that the last version loaded is used for all that were loaded previously. I can’ understand, is it some fundamental flaw of plugin technology, and it is only allowed to use one plugin as one source of sound, or it is plugin issue, or am I doing something wrong?

Non-RGB PC components
I am on the cusp of building my first PC, going to start tonight I hope. Why is so much of the componentry festooned with RGB lighting? I get that people enjoy it and why not, some frivolity is great, but I seems like a challenge avoiding it entirely these days! Anyway, wish me luck!

Post FX Global Instrument Volume Option
Currently the Global instrument volume is decribed as such -
Note that this changes all sample’s input volumes instead of levelling the output of all effect chains
Pre FX levelling changes the entire tone of any FX chains using distortion or gain dependent processing. Personally when adjusting the volume of an instrument I invariably want to do just that - adjust the volume - not the tone.
A global pre/post option in preferences/song options would be really handy to suit different workflows.

Rewire, renoise as slave, live as master
Hey.
When renoise is slave to Live, patterns in renoise doesnt loop correctly. It only loops the last pattern created, it doesnt start from pattern 0. Repeat current pattern only is not activated. What could be wrong?

Ableton has something called 'instrument rack' Does Renoise have this?
So say if you want 2 vsti plugins on the same instrument slot (ie 2 serum’s, but separate patches), is that possible?
I need this so I can do complex bass design, having a sub part and a top part.

Glide sends sample into silence very quickly
Hello. Hopefully I’m understanding glide correctly, but perhaps not. I assume the GXX command should transition between notes on a sample, and it does do that. But within several steps (4-8), the sample goes silent. Almost like it glides past the note and into nothingness. It’s happened with large XX values (80) and smaller values (20). What am I missing?

How to process DSP FX onto a sample?
I select my sample, right click, go to “Process”, select “Process DSP FX”, and when I check the sample to see if the effects have been processed onto it, nothing has actually happened to the sample AT ALL. Surely, this isn’t as hard as I’m making it, right? Is there something I’m missing? Is this feature just not what I think it is?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Sample command ignored on sliced sample
Hi, I’m new to this, but not new to DAWs. I see the sample command is blue, it is referencing slice points that exist on the sample, but the sample just plays straight through.
I let it automatically slice into keyzones, then deleted some to suit my needs. 0Bxx works, 0Uxx works, etc. but not 0Sxx?

History of Trackers
Found it on YouTube yesterday, really nice and informative video depicting the origins, the people behind and the evolution of Trackers.
Maybe it’s already been mentioned somewhere on this forum, but I couldn’t find it, so enjoy it!

Ardour tracker interface
Hi,
i just stumbled on this post on ardour forum:
Hello everybody, I’ve been working on a Tracker Interface for Ardour for the past 6 years, reminiscent of SoundTracker software coming from the Amiga. See (DISCLAIMER: this is ALPHA software). It is already functional but slow and has a number...

My hacked account
Rant:
While I love Renoise with a passion, I gotta say the company can be a bit rough.
Background:
I rarely update Renoise, because I tend to get very comfortable with the workflow and I rarely want to change. Also, the email that is linked to my backstage account is very old (and I rarely ever check).
Story:
Apparently my backstage account got hacked last year (Feb 1, 2021). Renoise automatically assumed that I leaked all my info on purpose and disabled my backstage account. I didn’t notice this until today when I tried to download the latest version for my new laptop.
Granted, I should be checking up on this more often. I did take almost a whole year to even notice my account had been disabled, but I think it’s still kinda messed up that they assumed I leaked the info and not that I got hacked. I’m still a paying customer. If/when this gets handled, I plan to update my email to my current one (which I check daily), but if I get hacked, I just get hacked … you shouldn’t punish me for that.
