Important questions about renoise
so i really want to get into this renoise why of working but im having some stumbling blocks here
- if i use the up and down keys to highlight a note , how do i grab it and move it up or down ?
- how do i make the screen follow down with what is playing ? and also not follow
3 how do i make the playback stop from certain points ?
4 . is there some similar options to choose a time signature and toggle snap to grid off ?
i play keyboard decent but i.m not well training it would be easier if i could get the metronome going to A 3/4 OR A 6/8
And only in decimal please my brain get around the hex thing thanks so much guys , such a great way of working

Holding Shift Doesn't Stay On Line in Sample FX Column
" When recording an effect column value, the cursor automatically moves down to the next line. If you want the cursor to advance to the right instead, hold “Left Shift” while entering the values"
This works for track FX, but for the sample FX column, if you, for example, enter -V while holding left shift in order to stay on the same line to enter an fx value, it jumps to the next line. This doesn’t happen in the track fx column, as expected. The cursor ~will~ stay on the line while your cursor is on the value area and entering a value in the sample fx column, but if you are entering the FX type you would expect to be able to then enter the value without it jumping to the next line, just like the track fx column.

Right click mute loaded Sample in Samples menu under Sampler
To right click on a loaded Sample and have the ability to mute and unmute them individually would be quite pog.

Stretching Sample from Edit Track Effects Menu
Hi; I created a sound from a sample which uses a Convolver and wanted to make the sound that was produced longer and wanted to know if there was a way to do so using another Track Effect, or if I needed to be under the Sampler tab under Modulation or Effects?

Bundled Phrase or additional phrases
Anyone know if there is a resource for additional phrases? Would love to add to the list. I quite often customize the GM drum phrases that are bundled, but there is a pretty limited amount.

Weird resonant tone in my monitors?!?
I talked about this over at I would like to hear your music made with Renoise or other Daws - #2999 by stoiximan
My conclusion there was that it came from the guitar, but now i realized the guitar is not the cause, it just happened to trigger the tone because electric guitars are naturally loud in the area where the resonant tone occurs.
Ok, so here is the case. My monitors start resonating badly everytime i play a loudish note with a lot of 130Hz in it (around C4 in Renoise). I have pretty much ruled out anything, but the monitors.
I have tried 2 different sound cards, i’v tried with soft synths, bass guitar and e-guitar and whenever i get close to loud on C in the lower octaves my monitors starts booming like crazy. There is nothing weird in the spectrum view either, no spikes or anything.
Could this be a grounding issue? My monitors are connected to a non grounded outlet, so i guess that could cause some noise, but then i would assume i should hear some 60Hz humming?
Could it be caused by something in the computer or wifi or something?
Any ideas? Time for new monitors?

I’ll be playing a two-hour live set using renoise at SACRED EARTH, a psychedelic music festival in the US midwest in September. If anyone is in the area and is interested, the event details can be found here: https://www.chilluminati.events/event/sacred-earth-open-air-2022/
Should be good times!

Questions about a sampler on which you can also play melodies,
Dear people, I started in the 90’s with fatsracker but then they stopped and I switched to renoise, always on the PC, but I still had and have expanded my wish with a 5.1 speaker set. I have questions about purchasing a sampler , I want to wonder is there already samples in a sampler or do you have to purchase it and can you connect the samler to renoise . I can make music but I have trouble maturing with apratuur , hence my question for advice , and explanation , kind regards Marc de Zeeuw

Do some of you play piano or guitar?
Hi im new here im bunja Just wanted to ask if you all mostly use a querty keyboard to make music , or if you play piano or music keyboard / ?
Im new to renoise just learning it properly as i was messing with it before and i really love it , and lately i have downloaded the simple piano roll, which is cool but dont know if learning that alongside the tracker system will mess me up , in future if development is stopped on these tools
I really like the tracker way actually
So which way do you mostly work ?
If your playing piano are you now using the simple piano roll tool or the tracker for stuff played in
Its not important Just a question as im curious cheers peeps
Peace and love

Unreleased early mock-up of a Renoise feature
Hi all,
I recently unearthed an early mock-up of Renoise I designed in 2006. It features an additional column that displays long vertical waveforms. The idea was to visualise the use of long wavs, typically stems of vocals and long instruments recordings alongside Autoseek.
Would you have found it useful in your workflow? Opinions welcome
Here is the design (2006 build)
Cheers,
Neil / Celsius

Some experiment with tidalcycles
A little over a year ago, I became interested in studying tidal cycles. It’s a surprisingly interesting experience that influences my view of renoising and writing music in general. I’m still a beginner and I have a lot of discoveries to make, but here’s a little intermediate result that I tried to capture. In the future, I plan to start fully crossing the work of renoise plus tidal cycles.
Wish me good luck!))

Different frame rates on dual monitors?
Hi all, sorry if there’s an answer on the forum for this but I was struggling to turn anything up.
I’m thinking of going to a dual monitor setup and having the pattern editor on one in portrait mode at a high refresh for nicer scrolling (say 165hz) and the instrument editor on my laptop which tops out at 60hz. Can anyone please tell me whether this is possible or will Renoise limit its frames to the lower of the two refresh rates? So 60fps in this case?
Thanks

Someone familiar with downloading music from the internet and editing
hello dear people, I often edit music in renoise, also old songs from the 70, 80 or 90, I have a 5.1 speaker set and also make it dolby surround with effects, I try to download the music from the internet, but it is getting harder and harder, I can does anyone have a way to download free music for example from youtube and then cover it to mp3 and then back to wave so that it is readable in renoise, hopefully someone knows something

From youtube try to download and convert for free, any advice
I know that you can share music from you tube and then make a copy of the music file, I heard from someone that you can copy it to a converter program the copy link of you tube and that he then make an mp3 and that you can download it and then put it on your pc, but the programs that I use contain a lot of pop ups, which results in a lot of junk on your hard disk, because I make a wave from an mp3 file and process it in renoise, does anyone know how to do this safely via a program from the internet because there are many pop ups programs
