Is the akaizer tool for renoise still available?

Renoise Forum - December 5, 2022 - 21:38

There is only a download to the windows version on the akaizer project website and all links leading to the previous renoise tool don’t work. I was wondering if it is still possible to use this tool in renoise? If not it would still be cool to share some workflow tips when using the executable version because I just want to optimize workflow.

What is the newest 32-bit only macOS build of Renoise?

Renoise Forum - December 5, 2022 - 11:07

Hi, I’m currently using Renoise v3.1 on my macOS Mojave running in 32-bit mode, running 32-bit plugins.
Is there a newer version of Renoise that still supports macOS 32bit?

Preset Settings deleted after new start

Renoise Forum - December 5, 2022 - 07:31

Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon / Ardour

Hello,
the preset settings in the right browser (Instruments) don’t save the setting. After closing Ardour and re-open, the settings are empty. That worked in the past - 2 buttons have saved a path, i had set. Redux brings a message, when i save, that the setting is saved - but unfortunately only as long i work in this project. Closing and reload and the setting as away.

My be a config file that has to be reseted to let work Redux again…?

How to adjust the default place for sounds in Redux on LInux Mint

Renoise Forum - December 5, 2022 - 07:20

Hello, i have a big please: Can anyone give me solution, how to adjust the default path to the sounds.
I saved my sounds on a 2nd harddrive in my device and in Redux is not able at the moment to adjust this.

I love Redux and i think it’s in the Linux World the best Sampler for DAWs on the market. But please develop Redux and give him an option, that i can set the default path.

Many thanks in advance.

Greeting, Stefan

Process monitor for vst cpu usage

Renoise Forum - December 4, 2022 - 19:28

I might just be missing a core feature already implemented here, seem to remember something of the sort, but here goes

I throw a lot of vsti’s and vst’s at renoise, but sometimes there’s obviously something using way too much cpu quota. This can be hard to identify, even using sandboxed plugins, as then the process will usually be identifiable in a task monitor, but the vst itself left unidentified, the only option to close it. (Built in plugins obviously don’t get the same treatment). Is there any chance of this being implemented as a tool or a feature, have I just missed something?

Cheers

Mixing with Renoise and Mastering with Ardour

Renoise Forum - December 3, 2022 - 22:05

Hi Folks

I need advice on loudness mastering. I record a song from Renoise output to Ardour input via Jack using these maximizer settings:

With this setting I get a non-clipping audio, relatively dynamic that peaks at -0.1 db. When I analyze this audio with ardour’s loudness analysis, I get:

Then I use Ardour’s loudness assistant to keep dbTP at -1.0 dBTP and I don’t set a target for LUFS

As a result of exporting like this you can see, my dBFS peak has been reduced to -2.6dBFS and True peak at -1.0 dB and LUFS at -12.1. If I set a target for LUFS with the assistant I get much lower dBTP (around -3.0)

Is this approach a correct one to adjust loudness for streaming platforms, should I target LUFS instead or am I missing something else?

Thanks

As I commented on that page, he has actually built what could be a “mechanical Lego musician”, if the output piezo’s were / could be converted to MIDI outputs !

Redux not showing in Linux (pop!OS)

Renoise Forum - December 2, 2022 - 16:00

A helpful commenter suggested to create a .vst folder so I could access Redux in Renoise from there.

Did that, and I can access it with Renoise. However, it does not open any discernible actual distinct program. Like a keyboard with Redux on it and all its options as seen in the beginner tutorials, it just shows me folders full of filter chains, synths, etc.
Why is there no program that I can run, like Renoise is?

I originally posted this question in a post from 11 years ago, but I decided to post it as a new topic, hoping I’ll find some solution.

MuTaNT•BReaKS••••#14 :scream_cat:

Renoise Forum - December 1, 2022 - 17:30

The people have spoken!

MuTaNT•CaTS•LoVe•FReeDoM

What: the latest installment of the most disorganized renoise song compilation/competition

When: now! til Feb 1… specifically 11:59:59pm on 2/1/23 in whatever time zone you happen to find yourself

Where: here, duh

Why: because renoise is awesome and you are awesome and we must show the world

How:
•make a NEW song with renoise (no old tracks, please)
•post the song in this thread
•winners will be selected randomly from the top voted songs (top 14? top 14.)

Prizes!!!: who knows? anyone want to throw down? I’ve got an extra (unwashed/unworn) “renoise… create more music OR ELSE” T-shirt designed and printed by @TNT I could throw in to sweeten the pot…
see here (he made two. I’ll gift the unworn one. no zensphere cooties, I promise )

Rules: NO RULEZ!

ok, some rules:
•song made in renoise (obviously)
•song must contain at least one cat sample of your choosing
•free reign to use VSTI, external effects and processing, but the finished song must exist as an xrns - external mastering is OK
•under 7 minutes
•ONE (final) song entry per person/collaboration - fine to post multiple songs in this thread, but you have to choose your entry by the deadline

•extra points for submitting your xrns (+3)
•extra points for doing it all in renoise without plugins (+2)
•extra points for vocals that YOU sang (not spoke) (+2)
•extra points for collaboration (+3)

Write a great song and extra points won’t matter!

Voting thread will be created after 2/1/23

Genres: whatever the fuck you want, go nuts

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Who cares?

Let’s GO!!!

Click and pops sound during recording audio

Renoise Forum - December 1, 2022 - 15:34

Hi guys,
I have sporadic click and pops during my jam recording of exernal bass synths.
Can be a problem related to high sample rate (I usually use 48k) ?
or maybe can be related to my iRig pro duo audio interface converters?
I have noticed that during my recording CPU % arrives to 20.
I use a new Macbook Pro M1 with 16 Gb

Thanks in advance

Diva: saving presets

Renoise Forum - December 1, 2022 - 06:02

Renoise 3.4.2, Kubuntu 22.10 (Linux).

I have a VST3 instance of U-He Diva loaded. When I click on the “Save” button within Diva to save a preset, the save dialog does not come up no matter what I do. The same thing happens with the VST2 version.

On the other hand, if I run Renoise from a terminal, for both the VST2 and VST3 versions of Diva, when I open the UI, it glitches as if it is trying to settle on a final size, in other words it gets stuck in a resizing loop. When I close it and reopen it again, the UI loads up fine from then on. And as for saving presets, the “Save” button on Diva’s UI does open the save preset dialog, and I can save presets without issues.

The TL;DR is that when Renoise is started as normal, Diva’s save preset dialog does not appear, and if I run Renoise from a terminal, after an initial UI glitch, the save preset dialog does appear. I can recreate this every time.

Ability to bind "Jump to next/previous section" in pattern matrix

Renoise Forum - November 29, 2022 - 17:37

Basically title. These hotkeys are bindable, and work in the pattern editor, the pattern sequencer and even the mixer, but there is no way to bind them for the pattern matrix, where I personally at least, try to use them a ton.

Also, there is a bug for binding these functions in the mixer. The listed hotkeys for them in the mixer is always the same as the pattern editors hotkeys, however changing the pattern editors hotkey doesnt actually change the hotkey you need to use.

Python Script:sliced beats .xrni to .mid

Renoise Forum - November 29, 2022 - 15:27

I’ll admit this is a very quick and rough hack written for my own use, but I thought I’d share it as a starting point for others to work from. It seems to work with Renoise 3.3.2 – as it is, it works for me, but isn’t particularly robust – in my renoise by default the first slice is midi note 37, so it assumes that the slices are mapped one per semitone starting from 37. It assumes things are laid out in the Instrument.xml as they are with the current versions of renoise (3.3.2) and redux (1.3.2).

It would be nice to be able to drag and drop midi for a sliced break into the DAW. This is a poor-man’s hack of a workaround: a simple Python script, that currently calls csvmidi to convert to midi It opens the .xrni, extracts the length of the clip in samples, and the sample position of each slice (assuming that each slice ends where the next begins), and produces a .csv file to be input into csvmidi (midicsv and csvmidi convert between .mid files and a textual CSV representation).

e.g. If I load "AUSP - Loops - 85BPM - London 2044 1 .wav’ (from Airwave’s Ultimate Pack), and slice in Renoise to produce AUSP_London2044_001.xrni, then (noting by ear that this is 16 beats at 85bpm – I’m not going to try to write code that guesses, as a file of this length could easily be 32 beats at 170bpm)

python3 slice_xrni_to_mid.py 16 AUSP_London2044_001.xrni

will produce

AUSP_London2044_001.mid

that you can drag into your DAW.

As for python, any recent version of python3 will do – on Windows, this means either the official python distribution (provided it’s in your PATH), or cygwin, or anaconda, or WSL2, and on macos I think a new enough python is bundled. Then you need csvmidi from MIDICSV: Convert MIDI File to and from CSV

(It should be easy enough to modify it to use a python standard midi file module instead of midicsv)

==== CODE for slice_xrni_to_mid.py
#!/usr/bin/env python3
