What happens exactly while a Renoise midi reset?
Hi,
what exactly will happen if I double-left-click the Renoise stop button, esp. regarding VSTs? There will be send a midi reset message (what is this exactly), and what happens additionally? And will this reset always automatically done before a rendering?
Background: In UVI Falcon, one commercial preset will be almost destroyed, as soon as I do a reset, or a render. The support was so kind to analyze this issue and they told me, it is because Renoise uses MIDI CC120 while resetting, so lot of the parts of the sounds are muted or something. So I should unlearn midi cc 120.

Why I personally hate the whole idea of remixing.
Many young electronic music producers of today, especially young EDM producers, tend to make countless remixes of the latest tracks and trends, including other people's tracks. I just deeply suspect that a really major part of that is to make it commercially satisfactory, especially in the clubs.
To me, this is totally on the verge of disgusting. As an artistic composer, I really, really detest and despise the whole idea of remixing; it completely spoils the originality, blemishes the creativity, and totally contaminates the artistic integrity of the original track in the first place.
I've learned from experience to never let anybody remix my composition pieces ever again, no matter how much they offer, beg, plead, reason, pressure, or even threaten. Many times, many users on Soundcloud have remixed some of my pieces, and unfortunately those remixes seemed to have gotten more popular than the original pieces I composed. It just feels stupid. It is depressing and I wish I'd never let them remix my tracks.
If any artist, group, DJ or even record company offered to remix the pieces I composed over the years, I would promptly turn down their offers because I personally DO NOT trust those people who want to make remixes of other people's tracks. I personally hate remixing. It's very distasteful to the artistic music composer, and I'm sorry to say that many young people today do not want to understand the meaning or enjoyment of being an artistic music composer at all. Furthermore, I personally am more influenced by composers like Pierre Schaeffer, Ludwig van Beethoven, Bernard Herrmann and Karlheinz Stockhausen instead of young modern producers like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Eric Prydz and Nicky Romero.
To be honest, these days I feel very, very sorry for the deceased Avicii because he wasn't the kind of boring commercial product I thought he was after all; he was instead a sensitive and fragile artistic soul who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight, and he was NOT made for the music business machine he found himself in. If I only understood his case much earlier before his unexpected death. My gratitude and respect goes to Avicii, a struggling artistic music-painter in the whole cut-throat music industry that finally did him in. It's all the music industry's fault.
This goes to prove that all too often many artistic musicians are being weighed down by the commercial of what sells and what's popular, and to me that is highly demoralising and downright demonising against the artistic musician. A true, quintessential artist should have the freedom and liberty to just create music, or any medium of art, that they personally love, and hopefully someone's going to like it.
That is all.

From Reaper to Renoise
This is my first post here. I am a long time user of the DAW Reaper which I have grown tired of using. I have recently purchased some synthesizer modules which I love to use, but it is a pain to sequence with Reaper’s piano roll. Many of my favorite artists have used trackers, particularly Renoise, and as I have looked into it, it has intrigued me. Great price to boot.
I will do my best to explain my workflow and hopefully you experienced Renoise/tracker users can tell me if Renoise would be a good choice for my needs.
- I have synthesizers and drum machines with internal sequencers (which I sequence them with)
- I record them one at a time on separate tracks
- I record vocals and vocal harmonies on separate tracks one at a time
- I want to then sequence my synthesizer modules with my DAW
- arrange the recorded audio. Move audio around, volume automations, fade things in and out, panning, etc
- mix the individual tracks with FX, EQ, compression, etc. Including the ability to EQ and compress my reverb send channels themselves which I find can really un-muddy things
- mastering
- exporting
I would love to hear your opinions.
Thank you
any speedcore/noise producers here?
just wondering if there are any speedcore producers here, and if any of you would want to do a collaboration or something
using ipad's garageband scaled keyboard as a midi controller in re
hello,
I know I ask the impossible but : i would like to know if there's a way to use ipad garageband keyboard as a midi controller to play scaled with vsts.
i know i can scale directly in renoise but it doesn't make the wrong key disappearing from my novation midi keyboard ^^ so unless i know the scale it's useless in live...
thanks by advance
Best midi sequencer for renoise
Hi all! I just bought a Launchpad pro in order to sequence my beats externally. I saw some videos showing how to sequence beats using the launchpad but not the pro. I have been trying with no luck to use the pro as an external sequencer.
So my question is: what are some hardware sequencers available where I can easily map tracks and patterns in renoise?
My current setup is all hardware synths and drum machines but it would be awesome if I could sequence drums and samples through renoise and incorporate them into a track live.
Happy new year and thanks in advance!
which native effect can i use to make stereo->mono
i've got an effect chain going on on the track, but i'd like to add some native effect to take it from stereo to mono. how do i crunch it down using Renoise Native fx only, please?
Duplex - Launchpad colors
Hi, hope someone can shed some light on this:
I often use my Launchpad (mk1) with Duplex, and mostly the mode "Matrix, Transport, Navigator".
Works fine, except when I have a lot of tracks it's hard to know whats what - all tracks and matrix blocks from Renoise are colored yellow on the LP, and red when muted.
I know it does not matter what colors i've set in Renoise tracks and blocks, so is there any way I can change the pad colours on the LP, and store the settings in the XRNS somehow so that it will load the same setup every time?
Renoise 3.1.1 release notes
Hi!
I just wonder if there're any release notes available for the new 3.1.1 update? Didn't find anything on the release notes page.
Thanks!
TheBellows Tracks
I'll post my tracks in this thread from now on:
___________________________________
Not the most exiting stuff i have made, but this time i focused more on trying to get a well balanced mix, an attempt to mix properly for a change. Not sure how well i succeeded with that?
I appreciate any feedback on the production quality, is it balanced well? Is there anything that doesn't fit well with the mix? Does the bass sound allright? How far from a professional mix is it? Does it sound dynamic enough? Any suggestion for improvements?
Secret Place
Hi!
Here is a new future bass track I'm working on. 100% Renoise of course.
I'm not completely sure if the intro is really catchy... but this is still in progress.
Some kind of Techno - Improving the mix. How to?
Here's a track i'm working on since some days and I'm stuck with improving the mix. Do you think it sounds good (ok is not good enough ) or do you see some deficits here?
If you know of something that sounds similar that would be great. I even have problems with the style... guess it's techno?

New tool (3.1.1): Piano Roll Editor v2.0 build 124 (December 2018)
The second version is here! Merry Christmas!
What is the "Piano Roll Editor"?
The "Piano Roll Editor" or also called "PRE" as an abbreviation is a tool for the representation and advanced editing of notes for the DAW Renoise (current version 3.1.1 of 64 bit). It is a piano roll arranged vertically with a top control bar, an intermediate grid for the roll and another bottom panel that represents a horizontal virtual piano, along with another smaller mirror piano on the top of the roll.

How to Get Roland D50 type sounds (Renoise/Linux)
I'm really interested in Roland D50 sounds:
www.synthmania.com/d-50.htm
How can I get similar sounds in Renoise?
Roland has the new D05 module of course, but I'd rather avoid the hardware integration issues.
Munt is an emulator of the MT-32, which is like a little brother of the D50, but the MT-32 doesn't sound as good. In fact it seems to have a stereotyped "video game" sound - although maybe clever processing could fix that. So I haven't even tried Munt.
Can some of the D50-type sounds be made directly in Renoise? I know that two of the biggest ingredients in the "Linear Arithmetic" synthesis are 1) Ring Modulation and 2) Sampled attack, synthesized body.
Renoise has a Ringmod but it seems to only multiply by fixed waveforms. True? In the D50 sounds, of course, both inputs to the Ringmod were configurable.
For sampled attack, synthesized body, I guess I could glue them together in Audacity, then import and let Renoise pitch-shift the whole thing - but the attack timing would change up and down the keyboard, probably wrong. I could use two Renoise instruments in parallel, one playing the sampled attack and one the synth-pad sound.
Has anyone made rich, D50-ish instruments in Renoise?
I cant press play (space) and midi keyboard key at the same time
Hello!
It constantly bothers me. When i want to record or play midi live i usually press play and some key on my midi keyboard. But nothing happens. Workaround is to use metronome precount, but its not always suitable. Is it bug?
