Best Controller with Renoise (easiest)

April 18, 2019 - 21:05

@FRANKSEQ wrote:

Hi Everybody,

I have tried Lauflicht with Novation Launchpad. I am doing more and more stuff with renoise and I am thinking to buy additional controller.
I don´t need a keyboard, I have a mpk and and Fantom S.

With which one can I do the best controlling effects, Vst parameters ?

Which one is the best for drum triggering? is there maybe a tool for APC 40 to have both.

Any tip is welcome, before I buy again and sell on ebay. Thanks in advance.

Sequence comments via API

April 18, 2019 - 17:59

How do I read a sequence comment using the LUA API? Couldn’t find it in the docs…

EDIT: Found it,

renoise.song().sequencer:sequence_section_name(sequence_index)

Will it return ‘’, if there is no section name?

Help VST on macOS Sierra GUI won’t update

April 18, 2019 - 10:36

@Lincon wrote:

Hello everyone,
the GUI of the freeware Helm VSTi doesn’t work properly anymore in Renoise 3.1.1 64bit, I guess since macOS Sierra. The Gui won’t update anymore, it only shows the initial graphics drawing.

It works just normal in any other DAW though.

Is there any way or workaround how I could make this version work again? Any ideas?

Here is the version: [Helm 0.85 64bit macos ]

Thanks!

P.S. I’ve seen similar problems in other VSTis, too.

Interpolate velocity, leaving non-notes-places free?

April 17, 2019 - 22:08

@ffx wrote:

Hi,

if I have a bunch of notes, the first with tiny, and the last one with gigantic velocity, and then use the interpolation function to make the velocity progressing, it also writes the interpolated velocities at the places where no note sits. This is causing trouble in Zebra 2, since then the synth switches the note to “polyphonic aftertouch” mode, which means it doesn’t react on normal on-note-velocity anymore. This is per note in Zebra (IMHO very weird, but the devs say this is intended), and then you can’t switch Zebra back to the “usual” mode.

But not only for Zebra, also for other synths, or simply not wanting polyphonic aftertouch in between, is it possible that Renoise only writes at the notes’ places the interpolated values?

Recreating stereo enhancer

Hi, I am currently trying to rebuild the stereo enhancer effect in lua. Now it turns out that the “surround” effect isn’t just a simple stereo rotator, it does more than that, but I don’t know what it is Any idea maybe? Thanks.

Maybe it LFO modulates the 90 degree signal with the inverted LFO on the -90 degree signal? Or 0° with 90°?

Sending multiple MIDI channels from a VST to a hardware device

April 16, 2019 - 05:15

@tommitytom wrote:

I have an external midi device that expects input on 4 midi channels, one for each sound. I’ve developed a Reaktor patch that processes midi input and plays multiple sounds in unison, which involves sending note/cc data to multiple channels from one Reaktor instance. I’m routing the midi output from Reaktor to a midi out instrument, and it works fine for one channel (the one that is selected in the instrument settings), but it does not allow me to send data to multiple channels. Is there a solution or workaround to this?

Workaround for VST instruments not receiving note off

April 15, 2019 - 18:58

@pyc wrote:

The only way for Monique VST instrument to receive note off command is to stop playing either while editing, or with ZT00 command.

I have one instance of Monique playing and at the end of the track, I’m issuing ZT00 command so it stops and you can hear additional audio coming out from a channel because of VSTfxs, and it gradually fades out.

The problem is that when you render a track to WAV file, rendering when ZT00 is issued, so fade out is not recorded.

Is there any workaround for this problem?

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I was wondering how do you guys process your vocals within the renoise (only)

  • Is there a way to make vocoder-alike approach?
  • Is there a way to finetune vocals (using some tools, or maybe automate pitch/fine?)
    ( actually i’m just wondering if anyone is doing this, still haven’t tried out )
  • Your creative vocal processing? (not the dynamic processing or eq, rather some more creative approach)

Thanks

Hello everyone,
You have the generic sliders for any vst, but not for vsti. I know that taktik also implemented the generic vst view for vsti (same vstis don’t have a go at all). Now some older plugins behave erratic when it comes to the GUI (e.g. tal noisemaker on macos 10.12++). nice would be a context menu entry “open generic GUI” for any vsti.

Have been using their plugins exclusively, been searching for good *(and not so expensive) transient shaper, but re-visited TDR Nova, what a tool! and that can do miracles on single hits, using expansion method per band… I love it!
Just wanted to remind you guys that with free version, you can do miracles as well…
Kotelnikov is amazing too, limiter, slick eq M(mastering edition) can be used on individual channels as well, so good control of width… I just need a good versatile reverb…
Amazing tools

Limitation of demo is not being able to save preset, so you can use it by resampling breaks/ sounds etc… but non GE are completely free.
What’s your opinion on those plugins by TDL?

I’ll post a link if that’s okay, if not i 'll remove it

Psychiatric surgery, by dried foxglove

Not a celebration of the mistreatment of the mentally ill throughout the ages; it thrusts the reality of the horrible feelings involved in your face. This is a collaboration between Dry Eyes (me) and diigitae (a friend). We are both schizophrenics. Pro-duped CDRs are available, shrink wrapped in jewel cases. This is harsh noise, but sequenced in Renoise. I’d like to think it is done with skill and communicates something urgent, but you be the judge of that.
