Hey, has anyone messed with ringmod sidechain in renoise? I think it’s a really interesting concept so I wanted to share my current setup for it and see if anyone else has a better idea for it.

the basic premise is rectifying your kick negatively, sending that to the sidechain input of a ringmod on your bass. Then you sum the output of the ringmod and the bass to get a waveform with space carved out for the kick.
Here is my renoise snip and file, take note of the rectifier settings if you want to copy. You will need the melda free pack to do it the way I have set up.

Here is where I’d love feedback to try and simplify the process (too many tracks!)
I send the kick sample to two tracks from the sample effects page, one to play and one to send to be rectified and then sidechained to the ringmod. I’m wondering if there is a way to send this to the ringmod without using an additional track.
The ringmod is on a send track so that I can send the bass to it and have it summed in the master.

I’ve looked at the waves in reaper and it looks to be pretty effective at carving out space, I’m going to try it in my next track. I’m curious to hear what others here think.

Hello,

My keyboard controller’s pitchbend is sending off random signals (Pic 1), and I want to filter out the signal to not affect the recording (and/or playback). I’ve tried using this toggle (Pic 2), but this toggles all the CC to stop being recorded.

Any software I can use to mitigate this?

This tune was made in october 2019 with the awesome Renoise Tracker with using only stock (built in) fx , some weird samples, and the iconic D16 VST plugins Nithonat (drums), Lush 101 (drone bass / arpeggio / pad), Phoscyon (2 instances, v1). Vocoder sample was prepared using Native Instruments Reaktor 6.

The bassline patterns are 7 steps. Polyrhythmic stuff in the hihats… only nerds will notice

I’m not sure if anyone else has fixed this problem before, but the neutral position (when you don’t touch it) of the keyboard seems to be offset down a step like this:

It also takes a considerably longer distance to go up than going down physically. It feels like the encoder is offset, but I’m not sure at all.

Does anyone know why this happens?

It’d be nice if the smooth tool, in the wave viewer, didn’t affect the sample, initially, and was just a modifier that could be adjusted in variable percentages with the option of just deleting it all.

Hi,
lately Renoise starts to crash on my 10.14.6 system, if I keep Renoise opened with a song loaded (the song does not seem to matter at all), and then put it on the second virtual desktop, so Renoise is not visible.

After some time, like 15 minutes or so, Renoise will crash and also hang. Often there is not even a log record about the crash, but there is one for the recent crash:

I think this started after I switched the system color profile to the default monitor’s one, so not using the sRGB profile anymore, but a real 20:20:20 bit profile, because by using a powerful AMD GPU, the performance drop then is neglectible, or sRGB even now performs a bit worse.

I kinda have 2 questions:

1. Is it possible to control a VST knob with a physical knob on a MIDI controller?
   Nexus VST knob example

2. Is it then possible to record these knob tweaks in an automation “track” (whatever the horizontal automation window is called)

Where’s the best place to get a good (beginner’s) overview on how to set this up? I keep findings bits and pieces on the Renoise forum but I haven’t found anything that describes the whole process - especially linking a MIDI controller to a particular VST knob.

Hi everyone,
Hoping someone can help me out here.
Wondering if there is a simple way of syncing an LFO in the Effects section to the BPM of the host daw / the redux project BPM.
The LFO’s in Effects seem to lack the handy ‘clock’ icon as seen in the Modulation section, which lets you sync between milliseconds and BPM.
I understand this can be done by modulating the LFO reset, but I’m not sure what the simplest way to go about this is.
This video LFO - Modulation & Effects - YouTube at 8:05 shows exactly what I am trying to achieve, but notes that the workaround isn’t possible in Redux.
I have tried mapping Reset to a Macro and automating ‘on/off’ from my DAW which somewhat worked, but was a lengthy and tedious process.
I also read that the Formula device is useful in this situation but I can’t find any resources to do with understanding the device (I have nooo coding knowledge). Maybe someone has a command for what I’m trying to achieve?
I just thought there would be a simple way of achieving this. Any help would be super appreciated!!!

Quick version.
It’s just an experiment where I wanted to test how to compose harmonic waves.
I just thought of trying phase distortion and so there’s a simple version.
Please note that it’s just a teaching aid for me.
No optimization.Random errors.

4. Transforms the created sample into a full-fledged wave to which more and more harmonic components can
   be applied
5. Toggle phase distortion
6. Phase distortion parameters [x1, y1, x2 and freq]
7. Just selector for harmonies
8. Harmonies sliders
9. Resets actual harmony to zero

I’m just getting my head around all this lua thing . i’m a complete begginer to scripting . lot of you might have been in my place so first error "thanks " i’m trying to follow step by step guide and execute following in Testpad lua

I got permabotspended last month and it has finally pissed me off. Some mushroomheaded dicks have been following me around flagging my heated comments. Like for instance, I got a week banned for textually yelling at someone for posting an actual snuff clip without the NSFL or horrible death warning in a sub with clips of people usually just doing dumbshit or having really humorus badluck, as I don’t ever click those with the NSFL or like. They finally got me from a misinterpretation of a comment I made about some mean woman giving an actual “nice” cop a thorough tongue lashing with vulgarities and all, which is/was technically verbal assault on her part in this stupid world. If you could unsuspend me the message I just sent has the phrases “police serve policy” and “I’m not the internet police”. I know one of you has this priv, and would do it for me, as intelligent as the persons [here] are that this is directed to. I don’t need a reply, so you dont need to create an altuser, but it would be best not to read many of my comments. Some could hurt… As Ivé been going through a tremendous amount of unspeakable events and I don’t want you to catch the attention of anything.

So I’m in a bit of a predicament…

I downloaded the Renoise Demo many, many months ago but immediately realized it wouldn’t work on my system as I’m running a powerful/fast yet old Macbook Pro i7 with OS X 10.9.5 being the last update I can get.

So I went over to Archived Releases | Renoise and downloaded the 3.2.2 release. Modified the plist to accept os x 10.9.5 and viola! It works to my amazement.

This is what I’ve been using without any issues since day one for the past several months. But now I’m ready to buy the license and I’m wondering a few things…

If I get the license right now for 3.4.2 (most recent version) and install that on a Windows 10 machine, can I then also download 3.3.2 for the OS X machine, would that be possible? Or does the license not cover older versions?

Currently if 2 samples occupy the same keymap zone with round robin enabled there is no way to layer them.

If there was a way to specify grouping (maybe simply through the existing Mute Groups) then the complexity of deeply sampled instruments could really open up.

For example a snare drum with 4 round robins instances and 2 different microphone positon samples for each could be layered and sent to separate mod lanes allowing the mic positions to be mixed to taste.

Or a 5 round robins of single analog oscillator could be doubled & layered and used to create a randomly drifting/beating synth voice.
