Simple multi-drag and scale operations for Renoise EQ
@ffx wrote:
Hi,
I love the tone of the Renoise EQ. But when it comes to detail work, it is a bit retarded. Here is an idea how to improve workflow with it in a very simple way:
-
Selection of multiple points and then dragging selected points at once. For example, if you transpose something you might simply want to move all eq points accordingly on x-axis. But also on y-axis it might be very helpful.
-
Scaling / stretching of the selected points, by holding down a modifier key and dragging up/down. The mouse position can be the center of the scaling, around which the points will be scaled in distance. Also in x/y-axis.
-
Multi point resonance editing, by selecting mutliple points and dragging while right mouse button drag.
I think these three additions would heavily improve usability and also are only GUI/workflow modifications.

0UXX behaves strangely with Timestretch
@muckleby wrote:
Brief description
0UXX command has strange behaviour on Timestretched samples
Steps to reproduce
- Load sample / instrument
- Enable Beatsync Timestretch
- Enter 0UXX command values in for that instruments notes in the Pattern Editor
Expected results
Pitch slide up at same speed as 0DXX command
Actual results
Much slower (and delayed?) slide than with the 0DXX command

Error MIDI In: one octave displaced
@Raul wrote:
R3.2.1. W10
I had not noticed this detail so far, but there seems to be a strange situation in the MIDI input or an error. What happens:
It seems that all octaves are shifted an entire octave up in the MIDI input, something that makes no sense. In the MIDI Output it works correctly. So:
- If you press C-0 or any key on the octave 0 of your physical MIDI keyboard, it will not return any notes (it will not record anything in the pattern editor).
- If you press C-1, it will record C-0
- If you press C-2, it will record C-1
- …
- If you press C-9, it will record C-8
- If you press C-10, it will not return any notes. Then, the whole octave 9 cannot be recorded from the MIDI input. Again, something that makes no sense.
I have tried this with several MIDI devices and they all work the same way.
I wonder if this matter also has something to do with the mess that exists with this other problem:
Frequency tooltip in spectrum panel Help, Support & Bugs I always wondered, why is the frequency tooltip in the spectrum analyzer displaying a note one octave higher than one would expect? [Zwischenablage01]@taktik. Please, I propose that these two issues be reviewed in depth and corrected. Currently, Renoise is confusing as it is now, in the handling of the octaves.
I think I should start recording at the eighth 0, and the spectrum should also start at the eighth 0 (with A-4 = 440Hz). Renoise should be more consistent here, and not make strange transpositions, and it is also confusing when it comes to building tools related to this topic.
It would be nice if someone else confirmed this issue…

Nimble kick, Tonal kicks pitching plugin

It doesn’t costs much and it sounds great! You can play kick samples with it, where only the tail gets pitched. There are several algorithms for pitching.
Its VST3 only, so you cant use it in Renoise till it supports it. But there some workarounds for that.
Maybe someone is searching for something like this.

Change drag and drop behavior for samples
@toimp wrote:
Its currently not possible to drag and drop samples from file browser to an open VSTi. Its even not possible to drag them out of Renoise. Would be nice to have this.
I currently need to use the “Reveal file” function to get it selected in the Explorer, so i can drag them onto the VSTi.

Renoise 3.2.1 crashing - sample issue
@lilith wrote:
Hi,
I thought actually that’s a problem of Carla, but falkTX (KXStudio maintainer) said it’s related to renoise.
Here’s an example file that crashes as soon I switch to the sampler. Somehow it’s related to the actual chosen sample. After deleting it it works.
Renoise file is here: https://mega.nz/#!Wvhk0aZb!18avtqy1ohzsrs5CkYDyXYV5x5J-0O3TG9wTNfWY-jg
falkTX could reproduce it, so I guess that should also work for you.
and here’s the crash log: https://pastebin.com/s4uyk2ap

Automatic deselection in pattern editor upon navigation
@Strotch wrote:
It would be great to have an option to make it so selections go away as soon as you press an arrow key to navigate in the pattern editor. This is how it works in every other tracker I’ve used. I know this is something that has been requested now and then for a decade - hopefully now is the time! I always find it troublesome how selections insist on being so retentive.
Related; it would be great if clicking somewhere with the mouse didn’t by default make a new selection. Only when starting the drag the mouse after clicking the selection could appear.
These could both be perfectly optional of course.
Would either be doable using custom tools?
