I will not break the scale Ft. KXNG Crooked, Kurupt & more!
North Carolina titan drops off 11 hits featuring Kurupt, Kxng Crooked & more
Jody Lo has proven to be one of the most promising artists out of Winston Salem and possibly the entire North Carolina. After a flux of consistently artistic releases since 2018 we finally get the first official Jody Lo album and the overall project is FIRE. Flowing almost perfectly to each beat, the lyricism is phenomenally satisfying and the beat selection was actually pretty dope as well, both complimentary to one another. Album features verses from Dogg Pound’s Kurupt, Kxng Crooked, Ras Kass & more.
You can check out the full project on any music streaming service

Struggle with Semantics Copy, Clone, Alias on Pattern Matrix Blocks
I just jumped into Renoise and struggle to explaining these words for myself.
Also the translation of these words into German.
I do not understand the benefits of Aliasing vs Cloning and Copy.
Clone:
A Clone of a Block is a exact copy but a independent Block. Same as i copy&paste a Block.
So i have a identical unique Block. But its not called a Copy.
If i expand a Block in the Pattern Matrix via the Bottom-Expand Arrorw. Do i have then a unique
independed duplicate also despite the fact that they look chained?
Is it a Copy or a Clone? Whats the different?
Alias:
A Alias Block is a un-independet copy and chained to the original whereever the other Alais Blocks are? The Benefit is that the Alias can be anywhere in the same Song, and will change if i edit the Original?
A Alias dont copy Automations until i hit cmd/Strg+Alt while dragging?
A Clone and a Alias is a Copy of an Original Initial Block. But Copy and Clone is basically the Same, or not?
At first i was translated Alias as Clone because the independencies, but now i am not shure if
i understand the Feature right and the use of the word Clone ans Cloning for a Copy.
In the Quickstart at Page 19: - Pattern Sequencer Hint
When dealing with patterns it’s the numbers that are most important, not words like clone, copy or whatever. Don’t get caught up in semantics. Just look at the numbers. If you modify #1, all Patterns labeled #1 will be affected. If you modify Pattern #0, all #0 will be affected. Simple
^^, Sure
But this is only the Case if we use Alias Pattern (right click the plus icon), Right?
On the Same Page it is written that we can CLONE a Pattern with the “overlapping rectangle” icons insteat of Copy it:
Clone the current patternClicking the circled button will create a new pattern below the selected onewhich duplicates the data from pattern 1.
So thats makes me blaaaahrrrrurghhh*
Thanks for clearifying this

New version sounds different than older
I was still using 3.1.1 (reverted from 3.2 because I don’t really like it for some reason) and today I upgraded to 3.3. As always I have my full backup, so I can compare things.
First - everything looks… worse, like in 3.2. Really - this vector interface acts not smooth (pattern scrolling is choppy) - maybe because that thin fonts. But that’s not important. More important is - it sounds different! Not big difference but still.
http://www.thrash.pl/newvsold.zip - two very small fragments of wav. One rendered on 3.1.1, one (from the same song) on 3.3. Both versions have the same parameters (mixing quality, play quality etc).
So why these differences? Sorry that I can’t give longer example. And it seems to affect samples mostly, not plugins as far as I know.
Sure, I can finish my projects using old Renoise and then switch to new one, but… I want to know why these differences? If it’s some kind of mixing improvement - I can live with that and adjust to “new and better”. If answer is “no way, it should sounds the same, nothing has changed in that matter” then… well, then we will see. Maybe I made upgrade when I’ll have any VST3.

Keyboard shortcuts using ALT modifier do not work
There’s a thread (Shortcuts with ALT key acting weird) on this problem already, but it’s over a year old so I guess it’s better to open it again?
Any keyboard shortcut using the ALT modifier does not work at all. Not in context nor can they entered as keyboard shortcuts in the options window. Basically Renoise seems to either eat up the events and not process them or somehow misinterpret them. This only occurs in Renoise 3.3(.1) though. The shortcuts work fine in 2.8.2 which I’ve been using to this day so far (looking to upgrade now finally), and it did work earlier in the 3.1.x versions. As noted in the old thread the problems apparently seem to have started with 3.2 which I didn’t test drive much so I hadn’t noticed it.
My situation funnily enough is the same exact one as user ASC in the old thread. I’m using an Apple A1243 keyboard on Windows 10 with SharpKeys that swaps the Winkey and Alt keys. The issue seems Renoise specific since over several years that I’ve had this setup (both at home and work) this is the first time I’ve had an issue like this. I’m not looking to switch out my keyboard though, since this is my favorite keyboard I’ve ever used. The issue is essentially a showstopper for me and would probably force me to stay with 2.8.

Stuck note (endless loop of note / feedback) in kontakt Shreddage 3: Hydra
Heyo! So I have a really wierd issue that keeps happening over and over. And only with “Shreddage 3: Hydra” VST through “Kontakt 6”. It doesn’t always happen but it doesn’t seem to be random either. I had the issue first in my last song I made where I’d play the song from the start and a note would keep repeating (like it was getting feedback from a speaker and replayed over and over).
So first I thought it had to do with some effect I used in my pattern because I could play the guitar track only and not have this issue but when I played the full song I got this happening like 9/10 times. And I went through the entire track like a 100 times (not joking) to see if I had accidentally triggered the instrument in another track but that was not the case.
So anyhow, now I started a new song and whilst just playing the instrument on my keyboard it keeps doing the same thing. The only way to mute it is to mute the instrument within kontakt until the sound is 100% dead and then unmute.Usually triggers when I press to many keyboard buttons at once.
Any idea what might be causing this? Lack of ram or processing speed? Or is it something within renoise or kontakt?

Renoise crash $$$$
Renoise crashed before i could open it!!!So i cant really say what happened however it seemed to be scanning vst3 waves plugins i think…
This also has been happening in previous versions too, the template when loaded has waves plugins already on the channels. For some reason most of them load except for one which is odd because other instances of the exact same plugin remain valid

Jamming on a FX track doesn't apply its effects?
When you jam an instrument on a FX track the effects on the track is not applied like on a normal track, is there a reason for this?

Renoise 3.3 fails to scan WaveShell1-VST3 10.0_x64.vst3
New install of Renoise 3.3, stuck on the splash screen, scanning ‘WaveShell1-VST3 10.0_x64.vst3’…
Tried deleting the VST cache files in appdata, won’t help.
Scanning VST2 versions of the same plugin works fine.
As a workaround it would be nice to have an option to manually disable loading certain plugins.
At this point my only option is to uninstall the Waves plugins completely (there’s no option in the Waves installer to only install VST2 versions). Then Renoise works, but after reinstalling them, the same error happens.

Disabling FX column for a track/pattern
Can you disable the FX column for just 1 track in a pattern while keeping it in that same track in the other patterns?
This is just for quickly being able to audition fx on a track, I know that I could manually remove and quickly readd the fx column when listening on playback but curious of other ways. Anything like what I’m looking for or a way to automate a track’s usage of it’s fx column?

Visual centralized missing when adding multitude of elements AND SELECT from API
I would like to address a fairly common problem in the API: visual centralization of selection.
Using the API, when you add an element to a list or panel and select, such as a device, Renoise should visually centralize the selection of that element. The most common are device chains or lists.
I can check and list in this thread the known cases that work correctly and the ones that don’t:
Correct visual centralization:- Select tracks (in Pattern Editor), keep focus centralized horizontally. Ok!
- Select track devices in Pattern Editor, bottom devices panel), keeps the focus centralized horizontally. Ok!
- Select sample effect device (in “Effect” tab, DSP chain list) keeps the focus centralized horizontally. Ok!
- Select samples (Samples box) keeps the focus centralized vertically. Ok!
- Select instruments (Instruments box) keeps the focus centralized vertically. Ok!
- Select sequence (Matrix) keeps the focus centralized vertically. Ok!
- Select note column (in Pattern Editor) keeps the focus centralized horizontally. Ok!
- Select effect column (in Pattern Editor) keeps the focus centralized horizontally. Ok!
- Select line (in Pattern Editor) keeps the focus centralized vertically. Ok!
- Select sample devices (in “Modulation” tab) does not centralize visually. It should centralize horizontally. Related issue
- Select modulation set (in “Modulation” tab) does not centralize visually. It should centralize vertically.
- Select sample effect device (in “Effect” tab, bottom devices panel) does not centralize visually. It should centralize horizontally.
- Select effect chain (in “Effect” tab) does not centralize visually. It should centralize vertically.
Maybe there are some more. Fortunately there are not many.
In general, the properties of the selected_X_index song should be responsible for visually centralizing that selection, so that the user does not lose the visual focus of the element.
Related issue (renoise.song().selected_sample_modulation_set_device_index):
[Incomplete Doc] "selected sample modulation set device index"? Renoise Tools
R3.2.4 Win10 x64
It seems that the API is missing the device selection within the sample_modulation_set (Reniose.Song.API.lua):
– Access a single device by index.
renoise.song().instruments[].sample_modulation_sets[]:device(index)
This is to access the properties of the device. But there is no way to select the device (inside the sample_modulation_set). Something like this:
renoise.song().selected_sample_modulation_set_device_index (this does not exist!)
This should select the device and…

VST3 plugins not recognized if not in "Common Files\VST3"
Hello,
Renoise 3.3 does not find VST3 plugins if they are in another folder than C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
I am manually placing my VST3 plugins into another folder (which is specified in Renoise and also contains my VST2 plugins). Reaper has no problem with that and finds all the VST3 plugins in there just fine. But Renoise does not find them at all, only if they are in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. I think that should be changed, so that Renoise recognizes VST3 plugins (*.vst3 files) in any VST directory path that is specified within the settings.
Cheers

Resetting instrument names
In Renoise 3.3 I’ve noticed that for some reason Instrument names keep resetting quite often,
for example the default instrument name is VST: play_VST_x64 (), I rename it to VST: play_VST_x64 (Pipa),
and then after working a while I notice it’s VST: play_VST_x64 () again. A moment ago I had four instrument names reset to the default (three EastWest Play, one Best Service Engine 2 instrument) so it’s not just a single plugin.
This seems to be happening quite often but I still haven’t yet caught what causes it.
Anyone else bumped into this? I don’t remember it ever happening in 3.2.4, or any previous Renoise version for that matter.
