Gnarly clicking when random LFO activiates effect
any advice on how to eliminate these nasty clicks?
is it DC offset?
I randomize the activation and deactiviation of effects like the repeater and delays etc with a random lfo and it produces a nasty click a lot of the time.

Im Working On A Small E.P
I’m working on a small E.P with a few songs on it at the moment, I will probably delete most of the stuff that is on my bandcamp currently and then upload this in it’s place as I feel that this is more worthy of serious presentation.
Expect acid, heavy breaks and singing.
I don’t plan anything, just sit at my computer and hit keys, see if it sounds good and then maybe play it back and repeat it.
Symphony Of Sporadic Instability.
I will update this thread upon release and completion
It probably won’t sound anything like Lifelover by the way

Drag & drop midi problem issue
If you drag & drop midi to a renoise track it creates a new pattern and a track and also a new instrument. So you have to move the pattern and swap the instrument number to the right one.
So… how could you import midi directly to the correct instrument number and in the track that you are draggin to?
Thank you,
Carles.

Native synths to build and use
hello renoise users,
Would you like to casually discuss building synths in renoise here.
I don’t use discord.
I like to do this sort of thing.
here is a little major scale for the stepper in the modulations tab

I made one with 128 steps, too. I like how it’s not in perfect tune.
I’m using a livid ohm64 controller.
But today I was thinking about setting up different LFOs to modulate parameters, too… one shot LFO’s triggered by note occurrences.
I’m curious about what people are doing out there
it seems like every year around this time I get re-obsessed with renoise for three months or so

New attempt at granular with native devices
So yeah, y’all know me. I’m all about granular, on and on.
I’ve always got to re-explain myself and my intentions. No I don’t use VST/AU, no I don’t want hazy drone granular for guitars and synth pads, no I don’t want to work with LPB, no I don’t want to time-stretch, I don’t want the ‘new’ sound. I want old, basic granular. Some of you weren’t around yet when it came out, some of you never listened to anything from Mille Plateaux, 12K, LINEimprint, etc. You’ll hear it all over older Japanese experimental electronic music from 98 to 2006 and beyond. It’s a handy effect and does wonders for more clicks 'n cuts, glitch-type stuff.
I’ve always had a penchant for the old version of granular, stuff you’d hear from Nobuyasu Sakonda’s patches in Max/MSP - way back from 2005 and granular even before that. Renoise doesn’t have that natively, and there’s always some sort of thing the Tools we have don’t do. In this Doofer, I use a delay as a sample buffer, and it’s apparent that it’s a delay. Yet, paired with the deprecated Stutter device, you’ll get a close approximation to a monophonic Red Panda Particle 2 pedal. Not bad, not what I’d ideally like, but really pretty. Can’t adjust grain length or sample position, because it’s up to the sampler to do that, can’t do pitch-shifting, can’t do anything but make small grains and bounce 'em around the panoramic field.
Tricks for use - add more notes at an octave up for pretty tinkling. Use a convolution reverb and turn it on/off for more abstract spaciousness (and let Stutter ‘grab’ it). I made my own IR from my Chase Bliss MOOD 2 pedal’s reverb, for example.
Anyway, see attached Doofer.

something odd showed up, is this safe or do i have a jerk of a problem targeting me?
thus if this is of the jerk kind of situation, does it mean complete and total nuke from orbit, and have to sell the computer and anything and everything ive attached to it or ever had in it’s actual proximity, and on the same nertwork?

How do i optimize a tool, or find out how long it takes for it to reload?
how do i figure out how long it takes for a tool to load all it’s parts? does having 35 separate .lua files loaded from main.lua mean it’s heavier, than when having all the functions + menu entries + midi mappings + shortcuts in one .lua file?
any ideas about optimization would be appreciated.
side question: let’s say i have this many lua scripts being loaded on main.lua.
would this result in slowdowns, because it feels like it takes about 3-5 seconds for the tool to reload. if i combined these into one main.lua, would they take less space?

Mentalized yamaha dd-7
So i started bending and modding this DD-7 i got after i saw the yamaha dd-7 drum samples post on the forums.
this is the update post announcing my plans for it.
UPDATE :
i have added the 38 way patchbay and done a reclock with an adjustable slow setting and fast setting. i have added the GND or 5V switch and two more 50k pots that are yet to be allocated, 2 more empty holes that are yet to be filled.
all that’s left is to experiment a bit with the pots and then solder it all up.
i will post pics upon completion as well as some sounds, it will just be an audio file but you will be free to use it as you please, chop it up and do whatever with it!
this should be completed by today or maybe the next so bookmark it and keep your eyes peeled for some mentalized sounds!!!

Problems with epicClouds Reverb plugin and for SurgeXT Synth
The 3.4.4 Release seems not rock stable in my opinion. I have same Problem with some VST plugins.
The following error i get with 3.4.4 for epicClouds Reverb plugin and for SurgeXT Synth every now and then.
And i have often crashes during project loading. These are crashes to desktop without a error message. No idea why this happens. I have found out, that the Modulation Wheel Value on ODIN2 VST Synth is not setup correctly after project loading has completed. It is always 0 then regardless which value was setted up at project saving time before.
happy tracking

How would i Prevent Redux from changing Phrases with Arrow Keys?
Hi there Great Day to you,
I would like to get this Great Software to work without the arrow keys changing the Phrase…
Right now, i emptied all key commands… ( so completely empty key commands file ) and it is stll changing phrases ( as for some reason, the focus keeps jumping to the phrases )
And i want to maintain the flow in making beats… without having to switch back and forth views and i want the phrase i am editing stay on, under all conditions ( ( especially when all keycommands are removed that i do not want ) )
Empty commands file - for anyone to test ( → arrow keys, while focus ( either intended or accidentally ) on Phrase( s map ) )

Windows: SessionLoops DrumNet VST3 freezes Renoise when trying to load it
Hi,
Anyone experience getting the Drumnet plugin from Session Loops working in Renoise (3.4.4/3.4.3)?
I recently got the plugin, but for some reason it just doesn’t play nice with Renoise. As soon as I try to load it, Renoise instantly hangs completely. I’ve tried it on both my PC and laptop with same results. I know it can work, because it has loaded correctly just one lucky time.
I’ve tried all kinds of settings, like plugin sandbox, single CPU, directsound, ASIO, hardware buffers, nothing has any effect. The plugin works fine in Reaper, FL Studio, as standalone, but it also works fine in Renoise 3.3.x! Which is interesting…
I’m running Windows 10, AMD processor (5800x PC, 3500U Laptop). Not sure if that matters. 32GB mem on both, so that’s not the issue (the plugin loads a ~1GB model). The only other plugin I know that has any comparable freezing issues is ANA2.5, but usually only after a while of browsing presets.
Any tips very much appreciated, although it seems to be a bug.
Kind Regards,
Robn

Linux: U-he HIVE cutoff does not react
I doubt that this is a Renoise bug, but I leave it here. In case it’s not I’ll post it on the KVR forum:
I had a HIVE plugin that did not react when changing the cutoff as can be seen here:
When initializing the plugin it does not help. I hope I can reproduce it.
IIRC there was no automation used.

Renoise Freezes with a Black Screen on Startup – Any Fixes
Hi everyone,
I have been using Renoise for a few months now without any issues, but recently, whenever I try to open it, the screen goes all black screen, and the software freezes completely during startup. I have tried reinstalling Renoise, updating my GPU drivers, and even running it as an administrator, but nothing seems to work.
Iam on insert OS, Windows 11 with an NVIDIA GTX 1650. This started happening after a recent system update, but I’m not sure if it’s related.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any tips or fixes would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

ObservableStringList:to_string() not implemented?
I suppose that __tostring/:to_string() is not implemented in renoise.Document.ObservableStringList? This will not print:
local test = renoise.Document.ObservableStringList() test:insert("hello") test:insert("world") print(tostring(test)) print(test:to_string())We can of course concatenate manually, but I thought I’d ask in case it was an oversight! Or maybe it’s delibrate, if the class is used at places in renoise.Song and it wouldn’t be “prudent” to expose it there.
PS. Love the Document API

Newbie question: set up a MIDI controller to control multiple VSTs simultaneously?
I want to make a mapping for my Midilab3 so I can have knob1-4 always be assigned to instrument 1 and knob 5 to 8 always to instrument 2, whatever I am doing in renoise.
Tried to find this, maybe I am not using the right keywords to find the way.
wasting my holidays figuring this one out… I want to jam with my new toy!

[API] Request: Add LuaProfiler in Renoise API for performance checking of Lua code
One of the most difficult things when programming code is getting detailed analysis results about code performance.
LuaProfiler is compatible with Lua 5.1 and could theoretically be embedded within the Renoise API.
@taktik, the tool developers could we have LuaProfiler integrated in some way with the Renoise API? If you want to improve the Terminal, a tool of this caliber would be ideal.
