JX Programmer

Description

Note! This tools has been replaced by the tool Guru, which allows for editing many other synths as well, See the Guru page

JX Programmer is a Renoise tool for editing sounds on the Roland JX-8P, MKS-70, and JX-10 (Super JX) synthesizers via sysex, similar to the original PG-800 hardware programmer from Roland.

It has got a user interface for editing all the parameters of a tone in the synths, and a switch to select which one of the two tones on the JX-10/MKS-70 to edit.

All the parameters are MIDI assignable, so you can use it to map any MIDI controller to the synth. You can load and save the tones as files, so you can swap tones with others.

Notes:

The current version constantly sends duplicate sysex messages to address both the JX-8P and JX-10/MKS-70. This works, although it is not the ideal solution and may cause trouble. This will be changed to a setting in a coming version.

Another future improvement is to be able to edit and save entire patches. For the JX-8P tone and a patch is pretty much the same thing, but for JX-10 and MKS-70 a patch is two tones combined and a few other parameters.
