Grain time stretch as a sample command
So umm, it would be nice to have grain stretch as a sample command, like SS ⋆° for shortening and SL ⋆° for lenghtening where ⋆ are number of grains and ° are lenghts grains. Not very sophisticated but would handle most of cases where someone would like to fix unfitting samples, right ?

TAPE emulator doofer
Hi all, this thread: swap stereo channels in mixer? got me thinking, and I cooked up a pretty decent sounding (I think) tape wobble emulator xdrp which may be of interest to some of y’all. good for degrading the sound subtly or not-so-subtly. probably good for synthwave, ambient, experimental, downtempo, etc. anywhere you want some good ol’ wobble to your audio. works great on samples and vsts. also good for emulating analog drift at low wow amounts and speeds (no flutter)
controls include wow amount (slow tape wobble), flutter amount (fast tape wobble), wow speed, flutter speed, feedback - which morphs the effect into something more like a chorus or flanger, and stereo phase - which decouples the left and right delay times - creating more stereo width.
hope you enjoy!

Preview Saved Songs on Welcome To Renoise GUI popup
There should be a way to hear a preview of the songs on the GUI list that pops up when you open Renoise; maybe with a play button or when you click it there’s a short preview much like how it’s done in the file loader.

Renoise Formula
If someone can explain simply *formula ‘function’ (no need for math part…but if someone can explain this part simply…big jump for renoise forum)

Can a doofer knob snap to custom lfo points?
Keep patterns for later / hide section / any tip
Hi !
As I explained in my introduction topic, I got Renoise less than a week ago and completely felt in love with it.
Actually, the only thing I miss, is my sleep now that I spend my nights making sounds.
In my first track that is pretty advanced, I’m starting to find some flaws in the way I organized my patterns, since I decided to start without even looking at what was possible and go with the flow.
Now, it’s time to find my ideal workflow for my next tracks, or at least the first iteration.
All that to say, that one of my main concern is that I have a tendency at keeping lots of patterns “in memory”, not being actual part of my song.
I just started using sections in the sequencer view, which is a good start making a big separation between the start of my track and my drafts.
For example, when chopping beat, I like to keep a pattern of the original chopped-to-tempo sample on the grid, without any of my modification. I also sometimes have ideas while working on a complete different part of my song that I need to draft, and keep away while I finish what I was doing.
I tried searching the forum and either found weird solutions, nothing or old things that may not be up to date since Renoise seems to have evolved a lot, but here is my question:
I would like to know if there was a way to maybe:
- save some samples (like instruments) somewhere else than in the sequencer view and just get them when we want
- if not, maybe we could “collapse” a section to hide its content ? that way I could hide my drafts while working on my track and open it when needed
- Saving to file could be nice, but a bit messy if I have to save file, delete pattern, load file, …
Also, if you have any tip on how to handle such things that I didn’t think about, let me know, maybe I even completely missed a core feature there.
If there is anything that could do that, or even if the API can do it, I may be able to code a tool myself, but didn’t dig that much in the API specs or Lua yet.
EDIT: also pretty useful to save some complex automations instead of deleting them, in case we would need them later.

My First Movie Score
Hi Everyone
I’m a new user and decided to re-score Night of the Living Dead as a practical way to begining the learning process of Renoise. I used Spitfire BBC Orchestra Discover, Spitfire Scary Strings, Foghorn and Fat Bee’s Rehearse. First attempt making noise…

Dynamic Eq as a replace for Multiband Compressor
As probably everyone knows in order to setup a native Multiband compressor in Renoise (other than the instrument area) you need couple of sends which is not so intuitive in my opinion . So how about using dynamic eqs in a doofer as a replacement? Like 3 or more envelope followers setup by the right bp filters each triggering a specific eq band . This is how I do sometimes in Reason . I thought it might be working(properly) in Renoise too .

How do i reinstall alsa-base?
so a while back i uninstalled lmms in favor of wanting to try out renoise and i noticed the alsa and jack base and i thought they were plugins to to lmms that i forgot to unistall. there are still in my computer though they are no longer working as i auto removed them using the linux terminal (dumb idea). now i get a message every time i open up renoise saying that i highly recommend to use ALSA and JACK. I dont know how to reinstall them though. does anybody here know how? i use linux mint if that sort of information is needed.

External VST Surge: cannot automate some FXs parameters
Hi !
When using the free VST Surge, I found something that looks like a bug, maybe someone here can help me if not
Steps to reproduce:
- Load the VST
- add Reverb as an FX (on the right)
It isn’t possible to automate Width or Mix parameters with an “Instrument Automation”, the only FXs found by Instrument Automation are FX A1 Type and Parameter (1-12), however looking at the help section it seems that it should be named FX A1 Mix.
Same thing happens for effects on the send track.
If this is not a bug and I’m not doing the right thing, I’ll love to get some help, otherwise, if you have any clue if the issue could come from Renoise or Surge, let me know!
Thanks

How to pass keypresses through?
Apologies if this has been covered before.
I’d like to add some code to ZynZilla to allow it to pass keypresses through, so that every gui update doesn’t require a click on the waveform to hear the result. I imagine this is fairly simple to do, I just haven’t a clue how to do it.
Any coding wizards want to help?

Indicator at wrong position when moving an FX column
Hello,
when moving an FX column in a group, the position indicator (white vertical line) is offset to the left.
Can anyone reproduce this ?
Tested with Renoise V3.4.2 on WIndows 10.
Thanks and regards!
