"Cataract" plugin scanner LFO doesn't resync at song start

Renoise Forum - March 14, 2020 - 18:15

@j_b wrote:

Hi forum,

if I am using the glitchmachines cataract plugin (1.1.) with renoise (3.1.1/3.2.1) and employ the scanner sequencer it will nicely resync at song start as expected.
The following screenshot shows the plugin in that case.
The relevant configuration is the lit “SEQ” button in the scan module.

If the scaner lfo is used instead (unlit “SEQ” button) the plugin doesn’t sync to song start anymore.
The following screenshot shows the plugin in that case.

In contrast to the above reaper and the cataract plugin are resyncing both the scanner lfo as well as the scanner sequencer to song start.

Is anyone using cataract in renoise and could try to reproduce the above?
Any help is highly appriciated.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Does anyone have an equivalence of values between the “number of samples” and “seconds”?

1 second = 441 samples?

Difference of internal analog and digital filter

Renoise Forum - March 14, 2020 - 10:44

@Fasttracker wrote:

I want to cut unneeded frequencies from my tracks/instruments to make space for other instruments, also i use the filters to shape the sound of samples. I only use samples – no external instruments. so far I always used the analog filter. but there is also a digital filter.

What is the difference then if i use the analog filter or the digital filter? What is the difference between both anyway? I am a beginner in this stuff… how can it be an anolg filter – it’s an internal software and therefore is’nt it digital anyway?

Which the 2 filters should i use in which case?

Thanks.

Add keyboard mapping support for the midi mapping feature

Renoise Forum - March 14, 2020 - 10:31

@toimp wrote:

Reason call this Keyboard mapping. I think this can be useful in Renoise, too. Assign a unassigned keyboard key to enable/disable an effect. For example, using a Reference effect on master channel and you use a key to actively switch between a reference song and your song.

i often find myself doing stuff like this

variations in timing are not constant, so it is interesting at times + the “choir” color of voices over a deep instrumental
enjoy, or not XD

Hi all! Got new Renoise album coming and this is the first single from it. I believe this falls into synthwave genre but this one has a bit unique sound so could be something else. Had fun creating long effect chains and automate stuff. Hope you enjoy.

Swapping the DSP pane and the Automation Pane?

Renoise Forum - March 12, 2020 - 17:38

@Dalvidos wrote:

I feel like I’m “that guy” lmao! I love 3.2… everything is working and my two montors are happy…
But heres the issue with the mixer window… when you open it (I have mine going to the right screen) you search your plugins etc in the wrong plac, seemingly you go from left/right, to right/left

It feels very unnatural for me to have the automation on the editor side, I can see the logic, genuinely. But i personally find it hard to get on with. My title says it all… Can this be done overall or can someone tell me how to do it? it feels so wrong searching effects on the non-priority screen.

Thank you all for your help by the way, this update has literally kept me in the studio. Much love.

The Other Side - Didgeridoo & Abstract Hip-Hop

Hi guys !
Sorry for my english, I’m French and google trad is my friend

I want to present my project to you. First I would like to thank the creators of Renoise.
So, I have been playing didgeridoo for over ten years, in a modern and rhythmic style, with beatbox techniques. And I am passionate about Hip-Hop culture and beatmaking like Abstract Hip-Hop. I like dark atmospheres and fantasy and SF universes.
I work under Linux with Renoise to create my songs. I use a lot of voice samples and instruments that I transform. I use Ardour to record my didgeridoo.
The mixing and mastering was done by a friend with another DAW.

Additional FX Params per Channel?

Renoise Forum - March 12, 2020 - 05:48

@greyfox wrote:

Hey Y’all! I have downloaded a demo of redux, since I love Renoise and wanted to try this in conjunction with my other tools.

One question I have: can I add additional FX columns to a channel? I like to have access to delay AND ratchet or other types of combos (such as slice and reverse)

I can’t for the life of me add additional FX like I do in Renoise. Is this possible in Redux?

Certain Plugin UIs do not respond visually though the sound is still present

Renoise Forum - March 12, 2020 - 02:42

@JFrost wrote:

Description:
When I load certain 64 bit plugins like Wolfgang Palm’s WaveGenerator, Infinite, and Gunnar Ekornas’s Messiah 2.0, I cannot see a knob change, but I can still hear the effect or change. My other VST host, Reason 10, has no such problem.

Steps to reproduce look like this:

  1. Launch Renoise
  2. Go to the Plugins page
  3. If you have at least the trial version of the aforementioned plugins installed, try it.
  4. Open the UI and change the knob with the mouse.

Expected results:

I should see a knob turn or a button light up or turn off.

Actual results:

No visual changes.

Extras:

My plugins are installed under C:/VstPlugins rather than C:/Program Files/VstPlugins because Renoise, for some reason, didn’t work with the latter.

I tried using the Windows 10 gaming screen cam to record it, but I could not make it capture the VSTi window.
