Just Intonation Piano | Lissajous Curves
I made Just Intonation Piano - using Lissajous Curves - because I can https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lissajous_curve
I Panned root note to Left, then following semitones to the Right - and in the Renoise oscilloscope one can see the Curves/Figures.
I attempted to find the nearest fine-tuning match for a given semitone - so, that relating to root note C, it creates a stable curve in the oscilloscope. There is a bit of jittering because, I guess, of the limits for fine-tuning resolution available - 1/128.
Try playing C + E or C +G.
C Major sounds good imho.
If you want to play with other root note - change the Instrument Global Pitch semitones, e.g. C → D is 2 semitones up, etc etc.

Clear snapshots?
Is it possible to clear the snapshots(a/b)?
I have a doofer (2 snaps) linked to a convolver (2 snaps)
Each convolver preset and snapshot containing a ir sample.
Now there are a total of 9 ir samples that are saved and therefore slowing down the save speed.
Thanks in advance

Untitled Project (pile of some notes)
A Redux VST Option to *not* save .xrni library data with the plugin state
Greetings all;
I’m new to the forums, and I just did a search for this topic. I found a thread about Renoise projects being self-contained, but this is specific to Redux.
I would love to have the option for the Redux VST to simply load the .xrni from disk, instead of saving all of that in the plugin state.
I’m using Redux as a VST with Reaper, mostly for percussion samples. The ease of setup, flexibility and multiple outs are perfect! But where a Reaper project file is a few hundred KB in size, adding a Redux percussion section can add 1 to 4 MB to the file size. One of my percussion instruments is 3.9 MB. If I have 5 songs, each with 5 versions, that use that library, that’s 100 MB of redundant files.
When I record audio into Reaper, there is only 1 copy of that audio, no matter how many versions of the song I do. I can chop up the audio, copy and paste sections, and it uses the original audio files.
A lot of people like Redux/Renoise for the tacking. I bought it to use as a VST sampler. Lots of outputs, separate FX busses, and an relatively easy to understand interface to configure it all, makes Redux a great VST sampler. I just wish it didn’t save copies of my instruments in the Reaper project files.
Thanks for making such great software!

Native alternative keyborad layout support
Hi,
I own a keyboard which is programmed to natively output colemak-dh keycodes, which is fine for all of the keyboard shortcuts I can re-define in the settings. But the virtual keyboard is hardcoded for compatibility reasons (ironically the compatibility reasons is what is causing my troubles) which has been mentioned here: How to reassign keys used to enter notes - #3 by Abe_Froman. I’ve even looked into modifying the binary since it’s such a niche problem but I couldn’t figure it out.
At the moment I have a workaround where I have a qwerty mode on my keyboard which I can access but it’s a pain remembering to switch between them with a shortcut. Does anybody know of any better ideas to get the virtual keyboard working as expected rather than having pitches randomly scattered about the keyboard?
Thanks,
Aaron.

How to add effects to midi hardware track?
How do i route the output coming from my TD3 to Renoise and add some (realtime) effects like distortion and delay to the midi-track in Renoise? I have added some effects by dragging them to the track but they are not processed; i keep hearing the original output from the TD3.
What am i missing here?

GridPie - Akai Grid Color Feedback
Hi,
I have an Akai APC40 hooked up to GridPie. My Akai grid can output yellow, red and green. The grid buttons on the Akai light up yellow if a corresponding track is active. But all the other grid buttons stay black, so the inactive, but also the inactive with content. Now I don’t know what button to push on the next pattern, it could be empty, or not, I can’t tell the difference by the color.
I’d rather have something like all my tracks with content are red and the ones playing green. That way I know that the black buttons are empty.
Does your GridPie also output only one color? Can somebody help me to fix this?
Thanks!

OSX: Monterey - Renoise Won't Load
Hey, just updated my mac to Monterey and Renoise no longer loads.
It comes up with the loading screen and gets stuck on “Loading song ‘TemplateSong.xrns’…”
I can’t be the only one to have this problem, assume it’s just to do with the OS update. Stupidly didn’t back up my hard drive before so can’t go back, hoping this will be fixed in a future Renoise update…? Or anything I can do now to make it load?
Thanks…!

Sonic charge cyclone as fx
One of my favourite software samplers is the sonic charge cyclone , yamaha tx16w emulator
Sadly , the only way to sample directly into is to insert it as an effect ,
The workaround of renaming the dll to fx dll ( recommended on the sonic charge site ) is not working in renoise
Normaly the vst is called Cyclone.dll , duplicating the dll to Cyclone FX.dll and a config file to enable the inputs does nothing
It loaded once as an effect in renoise , but then Renoise would get all smart and present a pop up it was an instrument , from then on it just totally ignores it as an effect
Both the instrument dll and renamed Fx.dll show up in instruments now
Too bad , because It’s such a wonderfull instrument for real time crunchy sampling

Assign only group tracks to grid(pie) slots and tracks
Hi,
I’m trying to fit GridPie into a live setup with a Akai APC40.
At the moment, all distinct tracks are bound to the grid columns, but I’d rather have only the group tracks assigned to the grid. That way I can make something like stems and start complete groups instead of single tracks.
I was thinking to make 8 groups with 5 tracks in them. How can I assign only the group track to a a grid column? So every 5th track?
I hope you understand my question, thanks!
Thinking about it a little more. I think I would like to specify what tracks are under one column. So let’s say track 1-5 under channel 1, track 6-10 under channel 2 and so on. Any idea how to fix this?

Set loop points for multisamples
Let’s say I rendered a vst instrument to like 40 samples , is there anyway to select all samples and set the loop points rather than doing this manually for each sample?

General Disscussion
The level of customisation available now is definitely an improvement over 1.5, but I agree, there are still some things which could be better if they had their own unique value. There have been times while working on a theme when I had to change an idea because it didn’t look right in all the places that a value was shared, or simply because the value affected some other part of the interface which I wasn’t expecting it to. spacebar counter

Simple multitrack recorder (not a sampler)
Hello!
Is it possible to consider a tape recorder section?
I would like to be able to make sound recordings (multi-track voice recordings)
Consider an additional tab that would work like the sampler section for larger files in the form of audio tracks like the samples in the sampler section? We don’t need to record 24 audio tracks, 8 tracks would be great! For effects we would just use the mixer. It would be nice to be able to compose and record directly without having to use another audio workstation.
Thank you for this!

Suggestion/Request: Momentary/Slider Switch for LFO's Reset and Hydra
This is stemming from a conversation on the official Discord server for Renoise, would like to see a way to switch the LFO’s Reset’s functionality between slider base and momentary button base. Additional maybe give the Hydra DSP similar functionality or create an offshoot of Hydra that’s momentary only.

Question before I start scripting a tool
Hello everyone,
I am a software and fullstack web developer and I would like to start scripting tools for renoise, but …
I would really like this feature as described in this post:
Idea: Add a new “Rows Divider” in Pattern Editor
But reading the documentation I think I have unfortunately understood that it would be impossible:
What’s NOT possible with Renoise tools:
- Change Renoise’s existing behaviour. Like, you can’t make all C-4s in the
pattern editor yellow instead of white. You can write your own pattern
editor, but not change the existing one.
Would you please clarify this point before I waste time?
Thank you in advance

Add notifiers when a song is loaded?
I’d like to add a notifier on some member of a song by default like
renoise.song().selected_track_index_observable:add_notifier(some_function)The problem is when Renoise boots up the tool loads before the song and the tool crashes since the song is nil. Also, when loading other songs I need to add the notifier again.
Is there an intended solution for running code when a song is loaded?
Best would be something like
renoise.song_observable:add_notifier(setup_notifiers)
