Is renoise better than other daws
I want to buy a license for Renoise, I just don´t know if it´s better than other daws like Reaper for making techno and house music.

Poly+mono in same instrument
A trick I use often on my hardware sampler and also the wonderfull cyclone vst is the combination of a poly + mono sintrument .
For that I sample 2 keys per octave(c,f#) , for 4 octaves ,set that voice group to poly , duplicate the voice group but set to mono and 1 octave up plus some glide ( 22-33ms) .
So both are controlled from the same instrument , yu can play chords and at the same time you have this note played an octave higher + glide …a really nice effect .
In renoise there is just no possibility to do this in the same instrument , it’s either poly or mono ,so we need to duplicate the instrument , set it to mono and also duplicate the part .
But , then there is still the issue of controlling-playing both instruments at the same time .

Interpolation between sample values (Smooth option)
Hello,
In one project, I am solving a problem with signal interpolation. I have a few things in reserve (Lanczos interpolation), but I would like a solution that uses the Smooth function in the sample editor. What kind of interpolation algorithm does it use?
I have some problems connecting the samples to each other ideally.
Thanks

Bypass instrument phrases?
It looks like a feature was suggested here, and I was wondering if it was now possible to bypass phrases for a given instrument.
For example, I have phrases built for a Drum set that I’m using in a track, but now and then I want to be able to trigger the sounds rather than the phrases themselves (e.g. Crash cymbals) rather than having to ‘build a new phrase for every occasion’.
Thanks for the help!

Assigning macros and saving .xrni
Is there any known way to assign macros via scripting?
and is it possible to save instruments as .xrni with scripting?
Thank you

[tool idea] generate native instruments from synth ui
Hello!
I’ve just had a nifty little tool idea, but not time and energy to carry it out at all. It struck me that it might be useful for others, so I decided to share. Maybe it can inspire someone.
I’ve already seen some tools that can generate samples from an UI. My idea goes one step further: why not create a tool GUI, that resembles some classical synth interfaces, i.e. osc 1,2,3 subosc, filter, envelopes, lfo, effects. But with starting the UI and dialing sounds you don’t create samples, but actual renoise native instruments that you control from the synth UI. Next step would be to assign mod/bend/macros from the tool UI, so they can be used from renoise.
I think of it like the created native instruments do not need the tool to work, they are just created with it with a classic look&feel. For example a classic 2 osc filter synth you would create 2 wavecylce samples and put them through a modset resembling the filtering options. Then as you dial the UI, the parameters must be adjusted.
Other kinds of synths than substractive are also possible, i.e. with ring mod/comb filter effects or additive by creating wavecycles and blending them between each other.
What do you think - is this possible from lua? Do we have enough lua access to create whole instruments and manipulate i.e. mod set envelopes somehow?

External plugin parameters identification and mapping
Hi!
I would like to manually edit automations of specific parameters of external plugins or map them to MIDI, but in many cases, they don’t have clear descriptions. Do you have any method for their identification?
Below is a screenshot of the SoundToys Effect Rack that I’m testing, and I’m impressed, but the issue with automations makes me uncertain about purchasing.

Minimic tracker-style sampler for iOS/Android
Just a heads up if anybody is interested: The guy that makes Deflemask made a sample-based iOS and Android app based on the same tracker ‘engine’: https://minimic.app/
I didn’t dive into it yet but it looks like a lot of fun. It’s been out for a year now, I can’t believe I haven’t heard of it sooner.

Struggling to find way to make Renoise work with Logic
I am having a blast working in Renoise. But my main DAW is Logic. I am struggling to find a good workflow here.
My initial idea was to build everything in Redux in Logic, but this has limitations in that I can only use one FX per note at a time (unlimited per line but that’s not what I want!), which is a major limiter for me in the long run. So here is the idea I came up with but it is CRAZY time consuming, there literally must be a better way! Please help.
- Export melodic synth parts I create in Logic into Renoise.
- Create my drum ideas in Renoise around the imported synth ideas
- Export each individual track as a phrase so I can open it up in Redux (do I really have to export each phrase individually? There isn’t an export all phrases option?)
- Then I have to open up Redux, load the phrases, pick out the sample I used for each part again for EACH drum part
- Draw Midi note again for EACH drum part
Crazy time consuming. I want the flexibility to adjust the drum part in Logic so I don’t want to just export out the Renoise project as a wav. What am I doing wrong here?

Is Redux Limited to 1 FX per note (or unlimited per line?)
New user so apologizes if this doesn’t make sense. Started getting the hang of Renoise and then now am learning Redux.
My main question is the one in the title but if you could also list some limitations of Redux compared to Renoise that would be great!

There’s a couple of things to be aware of when resetting the modulation of the LFO, Chorus, Flanger & Phaser effects. This also unexpectedly affects another device too.

Revisiting Resynth/Native Synthesis
I’m no programmer but I’m damn sure a script kitty. VERY basic c++, python and because of Renoise, lua knowledge.
I’m interested in input from you guys and I would like to know what theoretically could be done to get some form of Native synthesis within Renoise. What’s possible? The old tool Resynth had some bugs but came pretty close to something solid. Even being able to save your stuff as xrni instruments.
This is solely for informational purposes as of now, but a goal of mine is to have my hand in bringing forth some form of modular synthesis i.e Phase Plant to Renoise

Cxy effect erroneously read as Mxy in .mod file
Hi everyone,
I got this one module “Absys - The last new age.mod” (available on modarchive and other places) where the first pattern shows the non-standard Mxy effect being used prominently. However, opening the .mod in other trackers shows that this should really be a Cxy effect. I parsed the .mod with my own code, and can confirm that the correct effect is Cxy, not Mxy.
Is this a parsing bug? Or was this intended and I should tick some visualization options from within Renoise?
Thank you kindly

Midi Out Clock Groove
Hi,
so I’m syncing a 303 via Midi Clock and noticed that global groove also swings the midi clock.
I mean it’s a very cool feature but in this case I’d like the 303 to play without swing but I can’t figure out how.
Is it possible?
Thanks!
