Center/Pan in Delay fx (Maybe a Bug)
@LofiMat wrote:
I might found a bug in the renoise delay - device (simple one) - it is set to ping/pong LR - Trying to center both L/R seems a struglle, it somehow doesnt work properly (easy) to zero/center the Pan. A doubleclick shift to the right - a right click opens automation.
imo - it should zero/center with double - clicking, which it does not - its mad fiddly to set it to 0.

Midi loop record?

Is it possible when setting up a looped pattern and recording midi to with a keyboard, to only keep last take and not having notes overdub from the last round about of the playhead?

Zoom Out only feature
@helltrack wrote:
How about a simple stepped binaryish Zoom Out only feature, that in essence just hides every second row in the pattern editor (and so on) in the sequencer? Of course notes that fall on the subdivisions of the offbeat would be hidden if you zoom out, but maybe this is also quiet handy because it would allow you to see and work on the backbone of your beat with every zoom level simplying the view of your rhythmic structure.
Also wouldn’t require a complete redesign of the Renoise gui renderer (I would imagine)

Keiss - Nonexistent Sister [Visual]
@keiss wrote:
Hi there!
Recently I released my album lamps and bedroom and this track is taken from the album.
I made the track using Renoise. And it was possible to do this using the “ZDXX” command, but the phrases continue to play at the same time.
Here is my attempt to do the visualization myself.
So I would appreciate feedback.
If you are interested in the album you will find it here: https://touched.bandcamp.com/album/lamps-and-bedroom

Midi learn not available?

So I don`t see midi learn in instrument automation , it makes it hard to choose the right knob when there are lots of them . or am I missing something here ?

What gimmicks to use onstage with renoise?
@Garrett_Wang wrote:
Ive seen people in the past use joy2midi in order to hook up a joystick and control some effect like delay or filter cutoff. People love it. Its doable with any cheap joystick I guess.
As renoise is not so much geared towards live useage I was wondering can anyone recommend some kind of gimmick that I can use to give people something visual to understand?
I was thinking maybe a flight-yoke, as you may use when controlling a flight simulator or perhaps something else?
I saw someone using some balls which had flashing lights inside with i-pad, but it wasnt so great I thought.
Something flashy, with the power to move people, like the lazer harp, but cheap as possible and portable…is it possible to control effects with theremins?..maybe some kind of power-glove like on NES?

[Doofer] Bitcrush Highpass Filter with Optional Distortion
@EETTEE wrote:
Only the first knob is intended to be automated and it controls the cutoff of the filter as well as the resonance and the rate and dry/wet of the lofimat and dry/wet and amount of distortion. It’s meant to be like a one knob effect thing. The other knobs turn various things on and off and control a built-in compressor. The distortion can be turned on and off and is set to Shift by default. It sounds best there.
When the Cutoff knob is at 0.0 nothing is being done to the sound except what a Chebyshev 8n with zero resonance does. So don’t use this on bass sounds unless you want to mess up the phase. I decided not to include “filter on/off” in the cutoff knob (which would solve this issue) because the click would make automation clunky. This works best for leads and such anyways.

Routing Midi from one Channel to another?
@helltrack wrote:
Hello, is it possible to route Midi from one Renoise Channel to another?
I have a track that has a VST that has an integrated ARP that ouputs Midi and would like to channel the arped Midi Note Stream to another Renoise Channel that has a regular sample instrument.
I’m on macOS if that helps

Looking For Renoise 3 Instruments with phrases used in them
@Kooshan wrote:
Hi
actually Im not looking for wave samples which I got so many . Im exactly looking for renoise 3 instruments like the ones you get when you install the demo version (with all those beautiful phrases) . they are actually few of them installed with renoise installation and I unfortunately I didn`t find any anywhere else . so here I have 2 questions : 1- if I buy renoise will I get more ? 2- any other place to find ?
Thanks.

Phrases: Groups, Ghost visualisation in PSM and Patterns
@Sinatra wrote:
Hi
I’m really hooked on Phrases. But I’d like to suggest some ideas that might help with the workflow.
-
Groups - When you create a Phrase. I’d like to see that Phrase as a group. That way, you can add/connect how many instruments as you want to that group. They will all play the original Phrase with the selected sound. This instead of having to duplicate a Phrase for a new instrument.
-
Ghost Visualisation - Have an non editable “ghost” representation/visualisation of the Phrase in the pattern editor and also in the Pattern Sequence Matrix (like normal tracks are visualised).

Most easy way to replace instr/fx with 64bit version / crossplatform exchange
@ffx wrote:
Hi,
some vendors switched a vst plugin later to 64 bit, so there are two versions of the plugin each with different plugin identifiers. Very often, the preset data still is compatible. AFAIK the usual way is to replace the identifier in the song xml.
But there is a much more comfortable way to do this. Just use the copy/paste buffer and a text editor. Example:
- Load TAL-Chorus-LX (32bit), change the parameters, and then copy the device
- Paste the content of the copy buffer to a text editor (Renoise copies everything in a nice XML format)
- Change all plugin identifier nodes from “TAL-Chorus-LX” to “TAL-Chorus-LX-64”.
- Copy the whole text in the editor and now paste it to Renoise
Notes:
- The same works for missing plugins while crossplatform exchange, e.g. “MeldaPlugin” vs. “MeldaPlugin.bin”. Just copy the slot which was not loaded properly.
- Also works for instruments
Maybe this already is obvious for you, but I actually never had this idea before
If you now were able to access the copy/paste buffer operations thru the LUA API, then I could write a “crossplatform auto-fixer” tool, which auto fixes all common crossplatform identifier problems.

Synth rock "Mykje vil ha meir" - critiques are welcome

Haven’t been here for some time. This is the first time I’ve done any music in Norwegian, I’ve gotten old enough that I couldn’t see myself using English anymore. If you’d like to listen and maybe point out weak or strong spots, I’ll be grateful. Some parts are a lot less than tight, but I kinda like the stumbling feeling at times.

Hello all. Had a short break from Renoise, back now with a new song :)
@chemeleon wrote:
So, I had to sell my studio PC a while back so that I could have money. All I had for a while was an android tablet, with which I experimented with Caustic DAW for a while. It’s surprisingly good and full featured and I got a couple of songs out of it, but ultimately limited in terms of expression of musical ideas compared to the awesome phrase editor of Renoise. (“Silhouettes and marionettes” and “Sleeping Spaces” on my SC if you’re interested in those).
Anyway, after somewhat of a hiatus, I got myself a pretty decent laptop and after couple of weeks of pressing buttons I came up with this. I guess it’s finished, I might add a little outro, but I thought I’d release it for public consumption anyways. Here you go
