Just discovered a bug in redux (v.1.2.2), which crashes the host immediately.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open redux instance.
2. Load sample.
3. Play instrument while previewing sample from redux browser and then delete redux instance.

Can anyone confirm this?

Tried in Reaper 6.43 and Ableton Live 11 on macOS 10.14.6
Will record a video if needed.

Just wondering how people come to a conclusion whether to apply a track effect or a sample effect.

I know applying track effects allows you to use automation, but on the other hand I have seen people use sample effects and then route them to the track with macros.

I’m not sure whether this comes down to personal preference or if there are certain advantages to the two which I am missing.

This also leads me to my next question which is about tracks in general.

Do you use multiple samples on the same track?

For example If I am working with multiple drum breaks and use them at different points in a track, why would one use a separate track for each break? I have seen people do both of these options and I’m just curious about the thought process for behind them.

Again, does this come down to personal preference or am I missing something?

I get overwhelmed when there are lots of tracks. I like to keep everything neat and tidy and reuse tracks given the chance.

I need the 3 symbols used in Renoise to use with the text font in unicode format.
At the moment I have two symbols that look good:

1. CTRL: ⌘
2. ALT: ⌥
3. SHIFT: ???

But I am missing the equivalent of SHIFT, which is the up arrow.

Could someone please provide me with the up arrow, the exact same symbol that is used internally in Renoise?

Here’s a screenshot of the exact shape of the up arrow. The idea is to be able to use these symbols as text for buttons.

Hi, i’m new to this forum so first of let me introduce myself, a long time tracker having starter on scream tracker III & fast tracker 2 back in the early 90’s… been tracking on and off since then mostly as a hobby but have done some game dev work in the past…

I have a Ryzen 9 3900x, which should be more than enough for complete arrangements with multiple plugin servers but I’m left wondering what would be the ideal ryzen hardware settings for Renoise 3.3?

Also Realtek chips don’t have the best asio support, what would be the best audio interface for Renoise recording as well as asio support for plugins?

I like to make complex plugin arrangements with a lot of chained effects and while Renoise 3.3 claims it’s using 45% of cpu, windows only reports 8% usage…

I am trying to setup Renoise to work with Expert Sleepers Silent Way plugins and hardware to generate MIDI and CV signals going out to my Eurorack and MIDI hardware synths. In order to work, the fader level must be set to a perfect 0.0 dB level in order to drive the Expert Sleepers hardware correctly. I have tried setting the headroom setting to zero and then the fader on the track at zero, but it doesn’t work. I know that in other DAWs the way pan is implemented can also affect the output level in a way that trips up Expert Sleepers hardware.

Any member here with experience on this who can share some advice?

HI, is there a way to play the notes on the row when u move to it automatically? like i want the playhead to follow the cursor and play whatever under it every time i move. I know i can move and then press Enter to do it but i THINK i’ve seen someone on you tube doing it without pressing the enter key, maybe i’m wrong…

Hi. I’ve fallen in love with the Polyend Tracker, and composing with it is a breeze. I just recently got an idea, that to “expand” the tracking realm, I could do all drum sequencing with Polyend and the melodic side would be layed on Renoise, hence the vsti and wide columns to play chords with virtual synths/synths.

So, I installed (for the first time in many years) latesta Renoise installer. I have Apple Mac Mini M1, so I already knew, that there might be some issues with the *OSX 64bit INTEL installer". At first, everything looked fine. On launch of Renoise, the ReWire asked permission to open, but other than that everthing seemed just fine.

So, I hooked the Midi side of things immediately. I found polyend tracker in both, midi in and midi out from preferences. With a few clicks I was able to use Renoise as a slave to Polyend. It felt absolutely sweet!

After 30 minutes or so, the midi con between the Polyend and Renoise dissappeared. Just out of the blue. It doesn’t show on midi prefs, nada. I tried even re-install Renoise, and nothing. I swear I didnät change anything from settings neither with Tracker or Renoise. I also tested midi with Apples’ midi studio and Reaper, and midi is working just fine. So I figured it has got to be the ReWire? It seems that it doesn’t ask me to confirm “the use of ReWire” on each startup. So I guess this has something to do with ReWire?

If someone could help me out here, it would be more than sweet. In those 30 minutes when things were rolling, I was super happy with laying some drums in the Tracker and entering notes with the Tracker to Renoise tracks - and I could use sync, so that each time I press ‘play’ on Polyend Tracker, Renoise starts running. And there were 0 issues with latency, so I already saw some real potential here!

I have just installed OBS as I want to take some videos of my tracks in Renoise.

I can record the screen fine but I can’t find a way to record the audio. I can record desktop audio fine if it’s coming from somewhere else (Browser, Spotify, etc.) but it won’t record any audio from Renoise.

I am running a JACK client and use a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.

Is there anyone here experienced with OBS that knows how to fix this?

Hi all, just getting into Renoise as a previous user of Ableton.

I’m trying to get the Renoise FX to sound through my audio interface/mixer. I have a Roland MX1 which is an interface/mixer in one. I have no issues with it being the master clock and all the MIDI is working fine, but the audio output from the MX1 doesn’t seem to be going into Renoise as none of the Renoise monitors are firing. And because of this, the effects aren’t working either.

I’ve set my audio settings up correctly I think, and played around with the output settings on the MX1 but nothing. Ableton says to set the MX1 up in ‘External’ mode which works, but when I do this in Renoise, no sound whatsoever. Think theres a routing issue…

Any ideas?

But… I can’t get anything impressive out of the 0Axx command…

The lead instrument starting at 00:03 in revontuli | laamaa sounds like it repeatedly triggers notes while speeding up and slowing down (in addition to other things, like pitching up/down and reverse or offset).

I thought I could do this in Renoise, but so far I haven’t had any luck with the timing of the notes. My first thought was to use 0Rx and 0Rxy―but those only work per beat. I don’t know of any way to speed up or slow down notes over several beats in a single track/phrase, at least not how the reference song sounds.

The reference song was created with another tracker (the Dirtywave M8). Are there some simple tracker techniques I’ve missed in Renoise that can also produce this effect?

I’ve been trying to Rewire Renoise into Ableton to use the functionalities of Ableton alongside the tracker style. For some reason, even though I’m opening Ableton first, waiting and then opening Renoise, it asks for the password for the Mac profile to enable rewire but it never goes into rewire mode.

What can I do?
