Convert from DAW X to DAW Y
Just found DawVert. A python tool to convert stuff from DAW 1 to DAW 2. Renoise is not supported, yet but on the other hand MIDI works. And FT2 to LMMS. Or FT2 to Reaper.
Funny.

How to start up Renoise directly into loading a sample into instrument box?
hi, i’m trying to get to the point where i do “something wav.wav” and wav.wav opens up in renoise in the sample editor.
this would really help with for instance being able to boot renoise up as a sample editor.

Who's doing orchestral music with Renoise?
Just curious who else is doing it? I started with electronic stuff, but with time moved to experimenting with acoustic and orchestral.

My new tools: 808 Style Drum sound generator and one EQ5 helping tool
hello
I create two new simple tools:
I bored to use vst and other samples to use 808 Drum sounds.
So i try to make my own generator and now i give it to you.
http://www.hotelsinus.com/renoisetools/hotelsinus808Drums_V1.zip
The other thing is help to use EQ 5 Native DSP.
Its bring up a new Console Style EQ window and edit track eq. (like any vst) The window is display the track name and all the settings with knobs. It a bit faster to edit multiple EQs in this way.
http://www.hotelsinus.com/renoisetools/hotelsinusNeve1084_V1.zip
You can bind all the tools in the preferencies/keys section. simply search 808 and console…
Enjoy
Im not a programmer so i just put this things together somehow…
Any help about this project are welcome…

Maybe time to explore this again in Renoise?
Love the power of modular but want to go even deeper? Audulus, the modular platform we've already been eyeing, now lets you use easy-to-understand Lua script code to add your own custom signal processors with its new DSP node.
Est. reading time: 2 minutes
I can already think of tools that would make use of realtime audio…multitrack recording anyone?

We need more mappings in Phrases and other stuff in the sampler etc
More mappings in general
Mapping on sampling start and end
Custom scaling and external editor on the hydra
FREE running LFO´s
Individual Large window for FX chains
And maybe somekind of native synth modular coding environment like max, pd, reaktor to build your own stuff, yes, effects, synthesizers, function generators
pitch detector
meta mixer with 8 inputs?
and good old : trigger samples with LFO´s or anything else (signal follower)
mapping on scales
mapping on record start/stop
mapping on track delay as part of the mixer

Tool Request: automatically assign phrases to sequential keys
I usually have a lot of phrases I need to add to each key in order in the keymap, is there a tool or feature that could just go through the pool of phrases and add them to each key? Starting with C3, say (or allowing the option of setting the starting key).
Suggested to be requested as a tool here: Tool or feature to automatically add all phrases to keymap sequentially?

X11 Crash on StumWM (Linux)
Hello,
Im using Renoise on Arch Linux (though this has also been an issue on Gentoo and Fedora for me). This happens on pretty much any fresh install of Linux using StumpWM. As soon as I launch Renoise X simply crashes with nothing useful coming from any logs (that i have found). The same issue does not occur simply by launching the program within the ratpoison window manager. This used to happen before but was remedied by disabling taking control from the window manager in renoise’s settings but for more recent versions of Renoise not even this helps anymore.

Vaporwave/LoFi Doofer
Before I made glitch/microsound/lowercase, I worked in Reason and made Vaporwave. Every once in a while, I go back to it and make efforts to do the same type of work in Renoise. I have created a Doofer here that will give a lofi effect - a pumpy/SP303 sort of Doofer that is quite adjustable for low fidelity tape/wobble/filtered effects. Adjust to taste, it’s versatile as a ‘how much do you want’ sort of effect. I usually place this on my master for a super-warped sound.

Is there a way to use Phrases as a step sequencer?
Is there any way to trigger a phrase from the pattern editor and cause it to trigger each line sequentially && not reset to line 0 automatically? This would effectively make it function like a step sequencer with a trigger input.
I’m working on an idea that could be fairly easily accomplished by loading sequences of different lengths into a more traditional step sequencer, then triggering it manually so that the sequences conforms to a complex rhythm. For example, stepping through a 3 note arpeggio one note at a time, then being able to switch to a 7 note arpeggio and trigger that one at a time.
I’m open to options outside of the phrase editor, but this seems like something it should be able to do out of the box.

Problems after downloading vsts
I downloaded Monster Synth free vst and other vsts. I have a very strange problem, every instrument is silent with Monster Synth (but the first day I downloaded it it was ok!), Surge and Vital, only a few (but important) vsts in a very long list. This problem is not new, months ago I had the same problem with Surge XT, the other vst were ok. I don’t remember how I solved that problem, unfortunately.

Rename Midi Ports
Just picked up a new midi interface that is USB compliant so don’t need to fuss around with any software. Only issue I’ve now run into is that I can’t figure out how to rename the midi ports for Renoise to recognize. I’ve tried modifying the Friendly Name within the registry but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas on how Renoise pulls the midi port names?

From Renoise to Logic Pro and not back... unless
I haven’t posted anything in ages because I’ve abandoned the tracker world for a different thing.
And I miss Renoise, for one thing in particular : it’s the single best thing to make full tracks. Period.
It’s so easy to add or remove parts… so easy to add tons of complexity without getting completely lost or ruining everything by a misclick, a misaligned stuff or an automation that didn’t moved with a region.
There’s a reason it’s the de facto breakcore DAW : it makes complexity manageable and it’s a treat.
So, I want to go back on Renoise and only keep logic for final mix down and vocals… And I won’t because of 2 things and 2 things only :
- no multitracking
- no MPE (it sucks at recording midi data)
I’ve seen many posts dating all the way back to 2011 asking for those… I don’t know if they will ever be features of the DAW, nor what’s in the pipeline for the next version nor when the next version will drop but I hope something new and exciting will happen
