74 minute wave file limit
I’m attempting to render a track that is 8 hours long, and every time I try to play the rendered file, it shows up as 74 minutes, which is the length of a standard CD if I’m not mistaken
I could probably just render it in sections and combine but it does make things a bit more legwork on my part
What am I missing here?
Running debian linux bookworm
Thanks in advance

Roland or KORG-style OTA filter
the Jupiter 8/Juno 106 and KORG DW8000 have some of the most musical-sounding filters ever. I wish the Renoise sampler would have something like one. Metallic self-oscillation would be crazy.

Bookmarking blocks in patterns for editing
It’d be awesome if we could highlight some part of a pattern and ‘bookmark’ it, creating a save-state of the note data in there. Then, any changes you make to it can be instantly reverted and/or you could track how many changes have been made to that little bookmarked block only. If you don’t like the changes, instantly reset it back to what it was. Would be super useful for trying out a bunch of fills without feeling the stress of “Wait, did I just Ctrl+Z too many times?”

Fallback order for Audio Devices
When the current audio device is no longer present, it would be awesome if there was a way to control which device becomes the fallback option. This could be user-configured or else Renoise could even just fallback to the most frequently used devices in order of how often they’re used?
Right now, I have my USB mixer on almost all the time and it’s almost always my main Renoise audio I/O device. Sometimes I switch to my guitar amp, but when I turn off my guitar amp, Renoise always falls back to my computer monitor for some reason and nothing plays.
Would be awesome if I could give it some logic like:
if device A is present, use device A else, use, B, C, D, but not E.
I imagine this in a live situation where my main audio device failed I could conceivably have a backup plugged in ready to switch at a moment’s notice. As it stands now Renoise seems to stubbornly fall back to exactly the audio device I DON’T want it to use.
Please consider.
Thanks and keep up the great work!

Key press immediately after PLAY is often ignored
Try this:
Press PLAY on your pc/mac keyboard and immediately after press STOP, if it does stop then repeat and eventually it won’t register your keypress and keeps playing.
BPM 125. LPB 8. This issue happens until line 3.
I often start playing a pattern and immediately jam a melody on the computer keyboard, but it’s like there’s a variable delay that has to be run in order for the next key to be registered.

Attack stage fix it please
I am creating a new thread because I feel it’s just slipping under the radar for over 10 years
Adjusting the attack phase with the slightest amount of 0.1 ms ,significantly alters the modulation Initial amount (shown by green line ) .
I would like to see this fixed over anything else in renoise .

Replace decrease/increase pattern number shortcut for faster navigation
Ctrl + updown is used to navigate sequencer vertically and I thought I’d be cool to not having to double click each slot in the matrix or moving to tab key.
I don’t like the default ctrl + left right to decrease/increase pattern number when editor is focused as I like having sight of all my patterns and sometimes I toggle unintentially, and it’s just a click in the sequencer anyway. I remapped tab and shift tab and woaa!

Neural Amp Modeler VST3 Support
Hi there, curious if anyone has used or might have some insight as to how to get this VST3 to be recognized in renoise. I have the latest version of the application. Other VST3 in the default folder are recognized and can load properly but this one is not even seen. Is this a limitation caused by how the vst was developed or is there something I can do on my end to get this working?

Best way to loop whole pattern when being in Pattern Editor
I’m very often looping a whole pattern and I want to activate the looping while being in the Pattern Editor. Usually I use the mouse to activate the loop in the Pattern Sequencer. Is there a better way to do this while being in the Pattern Editor. “Block Loop” only loop 1/2 of the pattern.

Phrases Key Tracking confusion
Not sure if this is a bug or expected behaviour (that I’m missunderstanding).
Process:
- load a sample (three piano notes ascending sequentialy, starting at C)
- slice the notes
- render to phrase
- in the phrase editor
- select “Keymap”
- drag phrase onto the keyboard and spresd across c4 to c5
- set “Key Tracking” to “transpose”
(my) expected behaviour: in the main sequencer the prase should change the pitch of all slices as it progresses through the phrase (c-400, d-400 etc…)
The result is more like what I’d expect from “offset” the phrase plays from the position that corresponds to the key.
Attached an example:

Using a midi controller to make renoise function like a groovebox
I would like to use my launchkey to control the pattern peogramming functions of renoise.
I would like to be able to push a pad to select its corresponding step in renoise and then press some keys to input the notes and velocity into said step .
Also i would like yo have some kind of midi feedback so i can see which steps contain notes and whcih ones dont.
I thought of asking before embarking into it.
Im ok with lua. And i would appreciate any input.
Thanls in advance.

Add/remove note/effect columns key commands
If you use CTRL SHIFT Right or CTRL SHIFT Left commands, they only serve to open/close the 12 note columns. But it doesn’t work for effect columns, since they are already in use.
Perhaps to open/close the 8 effect columns, the command CTRL SHIFT ALT Right, CTRL SHIFT ALT Left should be used…
In any case, the same commands cannot be used for both!

Adjust click area of plugin window buttons (MacOS)
On MacOS the click area on the red, yellow, and green buttons in the top-left corner of every plugin window should be moved 3 pixels down.
While this seem minuscule it’s a relatively large difference.

Arpeggiated notes comply to Scale
The notes from the arpeggiate-command, (A47) for example, do not change when a certain scale is selected in the Instrument.
So if you have a phrase with C-A47 and set it to C-Major you can’t play A#, but if you play A you still get A-Major and not A-Minor. (Because the Arpeggiated command does not adjust to A37, etc.)
Hope this helps, cheers.

Which lua versions for which renoise versions?
hi, does someone have a set of information on which lua api versions are used for which renoise versions?
say, v2.8 renoise, which lua api version is used there?
Renoise V3.0 = LUA API Version 4 Lua API version 3 to 4 changes - Renoise 3
Renoise V3.1 = LUA API Version 5 Renoise 3.1: Changes from Lua API version 4 to 5
Renoise V3.2 = LUA API Version 6 ► Lua API version 5 to 6 changes - Renoise 3.2
Renoise V3.?? = LUA API Version 6.1 ✒ Lua API version 6 to 6.1 changes
i found this kinda stuff but so what’s the version for lua api v6.1?
what is lua api version 2? where did lua api version 3 come from, what version is that for?
etc.

MIDI Preset Not Loading Correctly After Reloading a Renoise Project
Hi everyone,
I used Renoise about 15 years ago and have some experience with tracking modules, but I recently purchased Renoise and want to dive back into making music - this time using some external (and analog) gear. While setting things up, I ran into an issue with MIDI presets not being recalled properly after reloading a project.
I’m using an external hardware MIDI box that has a lot of MIDI in and MIDI out channels. I don’t think this is the issue, since everything works fine while setting up and playing notes - Renoise is clearly sending and receiving MIDI messages correctly during creation.
The problem occurs after saving and reopening the project. For example, if I set an instrument to MIDI Channel 4 and configure the MIDI Transmit settings with Bank 1 and Preset 21, the preset doesn’t play correctly upon reloading. The MIDI channel appears correct, but the preset isn’t properly recalled.
Through some experimentation, I found that if I manually adjust the preset - by clicking the back arrow (changing it to 20) and then forward again (back to 21) - it suddenly works. This suggests that Renoise isn’t correctly sending the preset change upon loading the project, but manually adjusting it forces the correct preset to be sent.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround to ensure Renoise properly sends the correct preset upon project load?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
