Mini Rotary Dials for Volume and Pan in the Instrument Selector
I would love to see the instrument selector enhanced with introduction of either Mini Rotary Dials or up and down dragable values in the box do be quickly able to change instrument gain and pan settings and possibly also into the spectrum / analyzer view.
Dials: would simply change volume or pan
Box Idea: the outer border would flash if it receives a midi notes, inner green area can be dragged up or down to adjust gain, instrument can also be muted here through a shortcut click which strikes the box through
I think this would be ace to enable not just a quick workflow, but also an oldschool one, where you can in theory not care about tracks or effects and just keep it simple.
there have also been ideas floated around with a collapsable mixer view, but I think being able to quickly set instrument gains and pans across the board, without having to select the instrument first and then going into the advanced setting, would actually be more useful.
Also wouldn’t mind if it was possibe to show instrument macros here

Is there a shortcut/midi/LUA script to access plugins effects and instruments?
I’m currently building my perfect shortcut keyboard using a QMK programmable KB and the only thing I can’t find a shortcut for are the plugins windows. I’d like to be able to focus them and use the arrow/search to get the proper plugin.
AFAIK there is no shortcut… apparently no midi mapping… LUA script maybe ?
Thanks for the ideas

OSX Big Sur: First Time Startup Not Loading
Hi everyone! I’m on the OSX Big Sur beta and I’m trying out Renoise for the first time. But when I install and and load it up, it just loads to an all white screen. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there anything I can do? Or should I just wait for the devs to push an update?

Renoise keybinds with numpad and numbers
Quick question I’m sure anyone can answer. Does Renoise consider the numpad keys as separate keys from the numeric keys above “QWERTY…”? The reason I am asking is because I am currently using a “tenkeyless” keyboard, which is just a regular keyboard that is missing numpad keys. I am considering purchasing a new keyboard that has numpad keys, specifically so I can create additional Renoise keybinds using the numpad. But, just want to make sure that Renoise actually considers them a separate set of keys before buying.

Load sample into next empty slot
Would be nice simple addition to have an option/key command to load the selected sample into the next available slot. Just saves a few mouse/keyboard clicks moving up and down manually.
Cheers!

Stuck on "Closing the application (closing MIDI subsystems)...."
Closing the application (closing MIDI subsystems)…
I have gotten stuck on this message many times when closing Renoise, usually after Renoise has been running more than a day. When i force shut it down and reopens Renoise i always get the message:
Failed to initialize ASIO driver (reason: can not found a device. Please connect the device.).
Please make sure the device is properly connected and that the driver is not used by another application.
To get it back to normal i have to restart my computer, then it’s all fine.
I run on a Roland Quad-Capture soundcard in Windows 10.
It could be that SubAddZynFX 32 bit vst is causing this, but then i would assume more people have experienced this?

Problem with MP3 voice track as sample - long Stuttering
Hello together!
I have added a 4,5 minutes MP3 voicetrack to my project and in random time the playback of this sample dosent work and then after a few seconds it came back during songplay. I try 3 different Audiodrivers with different samplrates and samplebuffers. Direct Audio, Asio4all, FL Asio. Renoise CPU is 13 %, Processexplorer is 9 %
Same Problem. Anybody has a tipp for me?

ALESIS Q49 controller question
Hi all, just a quick question about the Alesis Q49 keyboard.
Can I map the Pitch Bend/Modulation/Data Entry to a parameter (such as a filter cutoff on a VST) in Renoise?
Thanks in advance.
Musikhaus ThomannNew shortcut: Increment and decrement instrument number
It would be useful for when layering/duplicating tracks to quickly change the instrument number like you do with Transpose notes up and down.

Mindset for tracking/composing
If this is the wrong category for this question i hope the Admin moves it.
Anyway,
I’m curious.
What kind of mindset do people that commonly compare in trackers have?
I mean, I have for many years (26) jammed away on my keys until something worth using came up. With trackers i find that i need to compose/imagine more stuff in my head before programming it down.
I’m not used to this and it’s kind of stopping me atm, as i usually try and Not think when I’m composing.
I’m sure i can adapt though, just need another kind of mindset for it all.
Thing is, i LOVE the fast workflow. I LOVE the instant overview you have of many tracks at once. I’m totally in for life now. No way back.
When i just put some random notes in, i can usually fiddle around with them until i like what i hear. It’s way different than how i have worked in the past though. However, new ideas, stuff I’ve never thought about, easily comes out this way. Compared to jamming, where i tend to just walk the same old paths over and over again.
It however might take a while to make it sound “human”, and not like random data. Hard to imagine where notes should be to get that “flow” you get while jamming. I’m sure it’s a learning process though.
I know i can record myself jamming away in Renoise too, but even if i will use this feature, I’m trying to get away from it a bit. New path ahead…
How do you approach your composition in Renoise?

Some new music inspired by futurama
Hey y’all. Posting my latest track cuz it’s fun to put yer music out there. I was watching futurama with my kids and the episode with beck came on and that part where he says “use the power of mental thinking! Make it dynamic!” Went by and suddenly I needed to fire up renoise immediately. I’m a hobbyist and my shit is lo fi and rough cut.
Cheers!
