Problem with Renoise's tool auto updater

June 5, 2022 - 16:28

Hi, I added some new version of EQ Helper recently, with version 1.14. But my notebook Renoise doesn’t show the update, even though it has EQHelper 1.11 installed. What am I doing wrong here?

This is the manifest.xml

> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> > <RenoiseScriptingTool doc_version="0"> > <ApiVersion>6</ApiVersion> > <AutoUpgraded>true</AutoUpgraded> > <Id>ffx.tools.EQHelper</Id> > <Version>1.14</Version> > > <Name>EQ Helper</Name> > <Description>Provides transpose functionality for various EQs/filters and some context stuff</Description> > > </RenoiseScriptingTool>

Do I have to remove the “AutoUpgraded” node? P.S. My tools are renamed by the webpage system, due my fancy ffx domainname.

Synkretic - Temprl EP (IDM, electro, glitch)

June 4, 2022 - 21:23

Hello! This is a new EP I released yesterday, every track produced in Renoise. It’s a selection of glitchy and emotive IDM songs with some electro grooves and a bit of footwork influence. Temporal remarks on the journey inward and its ennui-induced journey outward.

Check it out, I hope you enjoy it

Render instrument (not plugin) to samples?

June 4, 2022 - 19:31

Hey there. I’m trying to generate samples for a hardware sampler with renoise. I’ve got this sweet sweet instrument I made in renoise, and thought I could use the “render plugin to samples” function, but apparently it works only for VST plugins.

Anyone has a trick to do the same with a regular instrument?

Nordic Rune Sound Study

June 4, 2022 - 01:24

I used a program called Photosounder to sound map some Nordic Runes into sounds to see if that that’s what they were originally designed to convey and to hear what they sounded like. Interesting enough seeing the image that was generated by each it seems like they’d be used as a method of levitating objects, or sound cannons and whatnot.
If there’s significant interest I think I will redo the .wav files to correspond better with lower octaves and maybe do additional Nordic symbols and well as American letters as well.
The Spectrogram app by Galmiza on Google Play Store is pretty good for seeing the images.

New Tool: R3z0n4t0r

June 2, 2022 - 19:29

Hello,
I’m probably getting some type of ADHD (it’s not a new type of envelope), but lately I can’t stand one thing and finish it properly.
I will probably return to them gradually,
but I have to release Rezonator in the pre version and focus on something else for a while.

Resonator is my attempt to implement the Karplus-Strong algorithm
and create a simulation of string instruments.
So far, it contains the creation of individual sounds
and minimal creation of chords.

The control is rough yet but can be quickly understood.
The main one is to choose in the settings which sample you want to generate.
If only a single string or entire chord sound.

Thanks and enjoy

How do you organize your drums?

June 2, 2022 - 04:04

Greetings Friends.

Coming back to Renoise after a long hiatus. How does everyone prefer to organize drums in instruments and apply them to tracks?

Some things I’ve considered maybe: instruments organized by sound type (kick, snare, hat, percussion, etc), just one monolithic instrument, drum machine hits on one instrument, breaks on another.

Curious, if you prefer more monolithic instruments, how do you deal with various takes of sampled drums (with different parameters set on the drum machine)?

Cheers.

Reform allows you to quickly and powerfully transform selections of notes, with a granular level of control. With Reform you can scale, bend, shift, and interpolate note timings, remap, bend, and interpolate Vol/Pan/FX values, and hear your changes quickly and easily while editing! This tool can handle large amounts of notes simultaneously, and comes especially in handy when editing strum-like effects, and live-recorded MIDI.

→ Download ←

Official Website/Manual - see full list of features in action here!

To-Do
  • Undo/Redo Support (undo/redo currently duplicates the notes that are being processed by Reform)

June 1, 2022 - 19:14

I have a question I used to use the program fasttracker , now of course renoise, I knew with fasttracker when entering the track at effects to increase the BPM slowly or quickly, in a song, there is hardcore in my blood, but also respect for different style , but does anyone know how to speed it up slowly or in steps fast and then slow again ?

Leftover processes after quitting Renoise

June 1, 2022 - 08:40

When you quit Renoise. Aren’t all processes supposed to be cleared? It’s been like this for years and often way more instances are left. Is ut due to the sandbox plugins feature?

Bug (MacOs 12.4, renoise 3.4.2) - renoise ignores modifier keys from software keyboards (like bettertouchtools)

May 31, 2022 - 00:17

So…

this is a weird bug, i’m trying to setup some shortcuts on my toolbar with bettertouchtool to have my most common keys under my fingertips… and Renoise ignores modifier keys : shift-back is registered as back

I’ve also tried an iphone keyboard (numpad +) with the same result.

Note that other softwares work. If I setup cmd+c it will copy a text… but renoise will only register c

thanks in advance for the help !

New Tool (3.3?): Playmate

May 30, 2022 - 19:33

Recently when doing a search I came across this old post i made

Tool to Resize Patterns to Notes Played? Renoise Tools Ok, bad title, can’t really think how to frame it. Question: Is there a tool that will resize patterns as you play, to make them longer if you keep hitting notes past the original length, rather than wrapping round to the start. A bit like how the MPC 1000 operates with JJOS, it will just keep extending the pattern length as long as record is engaged. Most other sequencers allow arbitrary clip or pattern lengths based on how long you play… I know i know this isn’t the tracker way, but that’s w…

Thought i might as well see if i could come up with a tool to do what i was wanting back then.
So here it is.
tools.cupcake.Playmate-v1.03.xrnx (2.5 KB)

Source available on bitbucket, or github if you prefer sucking on the microsoft tit

The idea of the tool is that it will allow you to jam away while recording in a single pattern, without having to worry about stopping and starting etc. This is modelled on the way an Akai MPC lets you record patterns.

What it does is watch your pattern, and when these conditions are true:

  • edit mode is active
  • follow pattern is engaged
  • and you have entered some data in the pattern while it is playing

it will then extend the pattern by 1 bar (4 beats) when it nears the end of the pattern. The length to extend by can be changed in a settings dialog accessed via the tool menu. It will try to work out the correct length based on LPB, even if this is changed in the pattern. Don’t expect it to get it right if you’re using some weird settings! In the options you can also set a fixed length (in lines) for it to extend to, similar to the Ableton Push ‘fixed length’ behaviour, possibly. It will extend the pattern incrementally by the number of beats set in the options until it hits the fixed length size, and it wont resize/cut short a pattern that is already longer than the fixed length size. There is another option to copy existing notes into the pattern as it gets extended. This will remember how far it has copied, so even when stopping and starting the pattern in edit mode, it should always be able to ‘loop’ whatever data was in the pattern to begin with. It doesnt work for automation (yet!), and is also probably not very efficient with busy patterns. It will also store how far it got when copying, so even if you change pattern and come back to do more recording, it should just carry on from where it left off.

That’s about it. Hope its of some use.

Capturing Audio Snippets From The Web?

May 30, 2022 - 15:23

Is there a way to capture internal audio on Renoise?
I know I could use a 3rd party software to capture audio but if there was a way to do it within Renoise that’d be nicer.

Thanks, in advance.
