Bug? Why does Redux play this XI differently than MilkyTracker?

February 6, 2023 - 03:05

Hello,

Still running into weird things with Redux when I try to work with it. Today’s weirdness: Why does Redux handle this FastTracker instrument differently than MilkyTracker, ie: wrongly?

Oh, wait, I can’t attach an XI, XM, or a Zip to this post. Sigh. Now what?

Slide TD-3 from pattern veiw?

February 5, 2023 - 06:24

Wasn’t really sure where to ask this.

Does anybody here use a Behringer TD-3? I was wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to slide or tie midi notes together?

I’m aware of the M0 - M3 commands but M1 doesn’t slide the pitch but does change it. I did figure out how do it with the *instru. MIDI Control Pitchbend. I guess that works pretty well but I am trying to mimic is the portamento that is found when it is programmed onto the TD-3 machine interface. It’s a bit steppy as things are with trackers sometimes. I guess I can just double my LPB for higher resolution.

Does anybody have any expert experience on tracking midi to a TD-3 with Renoise and could give me any pointers?

Thanks.

Just a simple question about GUI

February 4, 2023 - 17:59

Hello,
As everything develops further, I am interested in your simple answer.
Do you prefer a uniform renoise gui or do you prefer something else as well?
I’m asking because development takes time and I don’t want to waste it on nonsense.
I have another tool that supports skinning now.
It’s not just a sketch, both versions work

So… Skins or not?

New Tool: Combine Instruments

February 3, 2023 - 20:10

Spent a whole day making my first Lua program. It basically copies samples from several instruments into one. I couldn’t find a way to copy samples fast, so big samples take quite a lot of time to be processed (don’t worry if Renoise wants to terminate process). Hope you’ll find it useful! Any feedback is appreciated.

hey all!

proud to announce the release of xenobaba’s super sane ep on zen sphere records

6 tracks of high intensity, high bpm, left field dark psychedelic trance with some occasional breakz

all realized in renoise, of course! mixed and mastered in renoise, too

mostly (90%+) native sample-based sound design with serum, loom 2, metasynth, and fm8 filling in the cracks.

if you like fast, hard, crazy, experimental music, give it a listen

will be on streaming services in a week or so

Can't save in Renoise Songs folder

February 3, 2023 - 03:11

Started having a weird issue when trying to save slightly older songs in Renoise 3.4.2 on Windows 10

Renoise can no longer save anything in the documents folder in my user profile. This includes my Renoise Songs folder (where I keep a lot of older projects), and the folder I keep my samples in.

Saving an existing song or sample gives me this error:

Saving failed with the error:
Failed to open the file ‘C:\Users\myname\Documents\Renoise Songs\suede.xrns’ for writing.

Also got a similar error when trying to Save As:

C:\Users\myname\Documents\Renoise Songs\bano.xrns
File not found.
Check the file name and try again.

The folders are not set to Read-only. I can save a text file from notepad in those folders with no problem. I can also save renoise songs outside of the documents folder (on the Desktop for example).

I’ve checked the permissions for the Documents folder and I don’t see anything unusual

Any ideas?

Listen Bus for mixing purpose

February 2, 2023 - 14:53

Nice feature which I noticed in Studio One. There is 2 main busses: Master Bus and Listen Bus. The only difference is that Listen Bus does not affect Master Bus while rendering.
Would be nice to have this feature for instances when i need to use EQ correction for my headphones while mixing.

Image just for more clear understanding.

Tool Idea / Script Question - before I start diving in

February 1, 2023 - 22:02

Is it possible to trigger something, when the play position cursor hits a specific note in specific track -

and when it hits - can it start Recording a sample for the Sampler/Instrument.

And continue recording - until a next specified note in the specified track is hit - then stops recording and stores the sample.

Think it like a Punch-in/out recording. Example:

C3 - Start recording new sample
D3 - Stop Recording

Recorded samples get mapped to from C4…etc

Melodic Sample Slicer/Chopper

February 1, 2023 - 20:15

I need a tool that basically replicates Serato Sample’s tempo sync after slicing feature within the Sample Editor.

First and foremost I do this manually just about everytime I use samples, so I know Renoise has the technology to accomplish this.

I use the Chop Sample tool which is AWESOME however it only works for even divisions and I still have to highlight all my samples and adjust the beatsync.

A tool that works with the auto slicer and calculates non-even slices then simultaneously sets the beatsync length relative to the original sample theoretically does this.

I’m willing to PAY for this.Any takers?? Paypal, Cash app???

Smallest possible screen size for Renoise?

Hi,
What is the smallest display size/resolution that Renoise can still be run on?

Wondering if 7 or 8 inch compact display would do?

Cheers!

New tool (3.4.2): Render Multiple Songs v1.1 build 029 (February 2023)

January 31, 2023 - 18:47
1. Concept of the RMS.

The Render Multiple Songs or RMS is a batch application that allows you to select a folder containing a large number of Renoise songs (XRNS or RNS) to render them in a single step (a single preconfiguration) without interruptions, getting the WAV files.

RMS saves a lot of time when rendering multiple Renoise songs facilitating management. For example, if the composer produces an entire album of 12, 15 or 20 songs, Render Multiple Songs allows you to render all songs «in a loop», in a single process, setting the same audio rendering quality only once. In addition, it allows you to select a destination folder, rename it, and tag the name of the resulting WAV files in various ways.

On the other hand, it also allows you to render tracks separately from all songs or also patterns separately from all songs, saving a lot of time.

Stop boring yourself by wasting time rendering songs one by one!!!

2. Download the Render Multiple Songs (Demo Version) Demo Version of Render Multiple Songs

Download the Demo Version of Render Multiple Songs v1.1.029 (XRNX format)… in process!

3. Get the Full Version of Render Multiple Songs: Support the Developer!!!

The “Full Version” comes with all the capabilities of this tool and without any restriction. This Full Version requires a “Personalized Use License”, through a “Registration File” which costs 10€ (euros).

If you are interested in getting the Full Version and thus support the developer, send me a Private Message and I will inform you of the details…

Please, seriously consider supporting the development and maintenance of the Render Multiple Songs buying a license. Keep in mind that it takes a lot of time, effort and money to build!!!
…ulneiz

4. How to use it?

RMS is a very intuitive and familiar tool. Basically, it allows you to manage files and folders and render audio files, including the last final process, after mastering each song, or divide them by tracks or patterns to work in another DAW. The use is very simple. Follow the steps below as you familiarize yourself with the window interface…

Render Multiple Songs. An original tool for Renoise.
  1. Just create an empty folder with a certain name, for example «RENDER» (or the name of your album).
  2. Before proceeding, it is recommended to list all the XRNS/RNS songs that you want to render, to establish a certain order.
  3. Copy into this folder all the Renoise XRNS/RNS songs that you want to quickly render. No matter how many, it can include one song or a hundred songs.
  4. Invoke the Render Multiple Songs tool (Renoise: File/~ Render Multiple Songs…). Select the «RENDER» folder. It will detect all songs by returning a dropdown list (it will also detect the tracks and patterns of the current song).
  5. Follow the options from top to bottom to configure the destination folder, the name tags of the resulting WAV files, the saving options (Entire songs, By Tracks or By Patterns) and rendering settings (Priority «High» is the fastest).
  6. Press the bottom «START» button. Let the tool finish. She will work in a loop automatically uploading all songs for rendering, showing a progress bar and more information about the process. Once the progress bar is green, it indicates that the multi-rendering process has finished.
5. Considerations & tips.
  • Make sure to always use «full load» songs. For example, if you use plugins, make sure they are installed correctly for a full load of each song.
  • If any song doesn’t load completely, due to some error or missing instrument or effects plugin, a pop-up will appear during the rendering process and requires user interaction. Simply press OK to skip the warning window, or CANCEL to cancel the modification of the preloaded song so as not to modify anything during the multi-rendering process.
  • If you render a lot of songs, RMS can fill up the available space on your hard drive very quickly. Make sure you have adequate GB capacity so the process ends up with space to spare.
  • It is recommended not to use single line patterns. RMS will ignore single line patterns if «By Patterns» save mode is used.
  • Finally, while RMS is shielded from strange names or characters, it is recommended that you name your song files, tracks, or patterns with simple names during the composition process.
  • To render it is strictly necessary that you have an active Renoise license. The demo version of Renoise does not support Rendering!
6. Update History.

Render Multiple Songs v1.1.029 (February 01, 2023)

  • Added: Including new icons.
  • Fixed: Some of the text has been corrected.
  • Improved: Part of the code has been revised.
  • Added: The demo version is now available.

Render Multiple Songs v1.0.024 (January 19, 2023)

  • First Release.

Speakerphone VST only works on first launch

January 31, 2023 - 09:33

Description:

The Speakerphone VST is not functioning properly in Renoise 3.4.2. It shows an error window saying “Missing registry key”.
However, it works fine on the first launch after installing Renoise.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a new song.
  2. Add an instance of the Speakerphone VST to a track.

Expected result:

A working instance of the plugin.

Actual results:

An error modal saying “Missing registry key”.

Strange workaround:

  1. Launch the Renoise installer.
  2. At the end of the installation process, tick the “launch Renoise” checkbox.
  3. The plugin is working fine.
  4. Exiting and relaunching Renoise brings the problem back.

I did not receive password reset or passwordless token login link

January 30, 2023 - 14:12

I wanted to reset my password yesterday on laptop browser, firefox - but I didn’t receive any links. Neither the password link, not the logintoken link. Checked the spam folder.

Luckily I can still login from Android, thus I can post this trouble ticket.

It’s for a Gmail account.

My guess: perhaps Gmail is blocking renoise mail server address…?

Thanks!

How to best utilize Laptops Mic-In input for recording bass\guitar

January 30, 2023 - 13:53

So I want to record some bass and perhaps guitar. Got a Laptop with only Mic-In: 16bit 48kHz.

I know it’s not optimal, but for the time being I won’t be having anything better soon. Perhaps I’m already over spoiled with devices, cmon, years ago 16bit48kHz and home multitracking with digital efx etc was only a richboys dream.

I am not going for Pink Floyd sound - think bedroom-punk, diy-pop, poor-wave something like Sleaford Mods seem to be doing.

I got Zoom Four B1X Multipedal and some other Beringer drive and fuzz.

So… should I compress the signal before mic-in. Could I use the Laptops built in mic amp?

Thanks in advance!

Пожалуйста, обновите Renoise для Ventura

January 30, 2023 - 10:37

Hello!

Thank you guys for everything you do and continue to do. The big request is just to make a patch to support version osx 13.2. some slowdowns of the interface and not always gooda distribution of tasks over the cores on my new MacBook Pro m1 looks like irony, especially when literally 3 plugins are included.

Thanks again for your product and have nice day!
