New Tool(3.4): zoner
Implements a dialog to generate stacked keyzones for multiple samples distributed along the velocity range or octaves etc.
The dialog can be opened three ways
- using the right-click menu inside the Keyzones editor view
- pressing the Open zoner keybinding (if it’s configured)
- from the Tools / zoner
see the source on gitlab
download from direct link (this zip includes all my other tools as well)

Renoise 3.4 does not load a VST that worked in 3.2, 3.3
I’ve been going through my collection of older songs, and loaded one from a few years ago in Renoise 3.4.2. Renoise complained it could not find the Ozone 9 Equalizer VST.
It listed other VSTs from Ozone 9, as well as Ozone 9 VST3 plugins (including the VST3 equalizer).
I opened the song in an earlier version of Renoise, and it loaded fine in 3.2.1 and in 3.3.
3.2 did not see any VST3 plugins, but at least with 3.3 I could load the song, with that VST, and also add the VST3 version, and then hand-copy the settings over.
But this seems like a real bug, that this VST no longer works in 3.4 while working fine in 3.3.

Autorender tool?
hello all,
maybe that tool exists (that would be awesome)
my 2010’s file is 2000 .xrns files
(a third of it are backups)
i would like a tool to render all the tracks that are in a windows file
it would need to open every tracks then to say fuck you to the windows that says that i don’t have the 10 years old version of this vsts render all track, opening the next track etc
i did it with a mouse record but as project opening/closing/render time is never the same that’s tricky
i guess i don’t have to explain how it would be convenient
thanks by advance

How to control BPM within a doofer
Hello, how to link BPM to a doofer? I want to use two instances of Renoise at the same time (for liveshows),
so it would be very practical to control the BPM within a doofer on the MIDI clock Master Renoise instance.
Any idea how I would achieve this?

Arch audio plays super slow
I’ve been trying to get Renoise/ALSA set up on Arch but whenever I play any audio through it (samples, tracks, etc.) the audio plays super slow. Almost like the sample rate is set super low.
I can play wav files using sox and they sound good.
I tried setting the CPU frequency scaling governor to “performance” and giving my user realtime privileges in /etc/security/limits.conf to no avail.
Could it just be that my laptop isn’t powerful enough to run Renoise (i5, 8gb ram)?

Keyboard stops working
Strange problem. I recently upgraded my system to win11. In 99% time it works perfect, but I have this problem twice: after I quit Renoise and open it again, computer keyboard not working at all. The same keyboard works in every other program in my system, but not in Renoise.
Has anyone had such a problem? After system restart - everything works perfect.
It’s very rare (so far twice and I have win11 from about 2 months) and I don’t really know why it happens.

Grab a plugin with track effects?
Hiya,
Just got back to playing with Renoise a bit - tried to render a plugin to samples, but I can’t come up with a way to include track effects to the render.
This is important, because I crafted a chain uses MIDI velocity to control some of the parameters dynamically in a drum synth that doesn’t have too much modulation options to begin with.
Can this be done?
Thanks!

Cableguys VST3 plugins not being detected
I’ve tried rescanning the only VST3 plugin folder that exists on my computer where I’ve installed Cableguys stuff, but I can’t get any of it to show up in Renoise. All the other plugins I own show up with no problem. Can anyone help me with this?

Tips for song arranging? Struggling with the arrangement window
Hello!
I look at the arrangement window and it’s the only part of Renoise I struggle to properly “see”. It’s the only thing I miss from a “typical” DAW. I find the “blocks” difficult to mentally parse, I can’t see the transition part or automation and how it all relates. Does anybody have any workflow tips or hacks (or wanna make a video on it, wink wink @slujr) that they’re happy to share?
Thanks
Sam

Can you see the path to a selected sample?
Hi guys,
is there any way to see the path to a selected sample in the instrument selector? Especially when I have renamed a sample I struggle to remember which folder I found it in, so it would be really nice get the file path by hovering the sample or right click → show file path.
I’m a complete beginner when in comes to trackers and have only been tinkering with Renoise for a couple of weeks and so far I’m loving it. I have to say that the amount of knowledge and willingness to help others on this forum is impressive, and I’ve learned a lot just by browsing.
My biggest fear is that with all the possibilities within Renoise, this can be a really deep rabbit hole from which it can be difficult to emerge from

Wicked Game - Cover
Always loved this song, not sure I can do it justice as I just don’t have the voice for it, but it was fun making it regardless

Width command wxx
The width command sounds awesome when it is set to WFF and layering stuff over a mono signal. The problem is, in a mono mix the wide signal disappears.I have my own set of tools for widening signals out a lot so that they wont disappear in mono, however it only sounds half as good, more noticeably on percussion type elements. With the WFF command they don’t lose power and they also snap very nicely. To me id rather use the very wide WFF instead of stereo expanders and the like.I dont want to use a WXX command lower than FF either as then the elements tilt slightly to one side in what i consider to be a very ugly way.My question is,is it really thaaaaatttt important to mix for mono?I have heard that some clubs systems are actually in mono which strikes me as a bit bizarre. Is the problem really just mobile phones??

Same Pattern in different patterns with different LPB
Hello - please excuse me if this is already listed on here, I wasn’t sure of the terminology of how to search for it.
If I create a detailed and complex sequence in one pattern at 8 LPB, then switch to another pattern at 16 LPB, copying and pasting will make this pattern play twice as fast.
That makes sense and all, but is there a way to conform it to the new LPB so it plays back exactly the same?
If so, does it work the other way around?

Halion 7 gui Automation
Well hello there! So Halion 7 is out, and i’m having some trouble with assigning automation. It works by the usual right clicking on a knob (add automation). But apparently there’s another way to automate things that are hidden by Halion, by adding an automation slot inside Halion. Then move something on the gui that you want to automate, which places that target inside the internal automation list. For example: you should be able to automate the individual steps in the steps envelope.
They don’t appear as destination choise using the mod matrix. So the only way is to move the steps on the gui, which then should be recorded/added inside Halions own automation list.
In Cubase you have to select “Read” and “Write” on top of the vst gui. This works perfectly. I downloaded the renoise “Gui automation recorder” tool and it works fine with other vsts. But i’m having no luck with the above^^
Do we have any Halion experts in the Renoise community? Is this possible within Renoise?

Releasing The Old Song... hang
Brief Description: Oftentimes, when loading another song, when it gets to ‘Releasing the old song…’ it hangs, and the program has to be shutdown through windows (‘this app is not responding, close?’ ‘Yes’).
Steps to reproduce: After working for awhile, and saving a song, go to load another song.
Expected results: That the song will load normally.
Actual results: Renoise 'hangs on ‘Releasing the old song…’
Since recently migrating from Renoise 3.1 (got a new 64-bit machine), moved VSTIs/VSTs to new installation. Many plug-ins are 32-bit
Also, when this hangup happens, more often than not the ‘load recently saved song’ list is not up to date. When reloading Renoise to begin again, several loaded and saved songs from the previous session are not in the ‘recently saved song’ list.
The ‘song folder in use now’ is also not remembered, and the same thing with ‘favorite’ VST/DSPs added in the previous (hanging) session.
I have a log if you want me to email it.
It’s kind of a minor inconvenience, but it would be great to know if you can spot something being amiss.
2nd Gen i3 proc with 8gb RAM, 500mb HD, Dell model.
Thanks
