Glitchy, Live improv using Duplex and Grid Pie with a Mk1 Launchpad. In 2023
As the title suggests, here it is! This set was performed in Leicester as part of the EMOM series of events.

I basically wanted to retire my RS7000 groovebox, and given I compose almost exclusively in renoise, a live approach to using it seemed only natural.
To my suprise, Duplex and Gridpie, with an old Launchpad bought from Reverb.com worked pretty well. It needs a bit of tweaking, but I think this is something I can stick with.
I can render the xrns down to just samples if people want it as well.

Windows: Korg Opsix Native settings lost on reload
Settings for Korg’s Opsix Native plugin don’t appear to save/load correctly with Renoise. A single instance can be used without any problems. Adding a second causes the settings to be scrambled on reload.
Example test:
- New song.
- Opsix as instrument 0, change preset to 1.
- Save/reload - fine.
- Opsix as instrument 1, change preset to 2.
- Save/reload - both instruments sound like simple sine waves and have motion+sequencer turned on. The preset names are displayed correctly, so it’s not as simple as the wrong preset being loaded.
The same results were seen with Renoise versions 3.4.0 and 3.4.2. Opsix works fine with multiple instances in Reaper.

Emotical Bits (Hands Up / Euphoric Hardstyle)
Another Song also done in Renoise. Melodies are so much easier with a piano roll
Btw. its very easy to create triplet rhythm and melodies on LPB2 in Renoise. 50% Global Groove = done.
Was used in this song, too.

LiveDive Update/Working in Renoise 3.4.x!
I haven’t posted here in years, so forgive me.
I’ve figured out why the old versions of LiveDive were not working for the latest versions of renoise and compiled a new version that works on my machine.
Basically, the gist is that the Lua version the plugin was compiled was isn’t compatible with newer 64 bit versions. If you convert the bytecode to 64-bit and put the files back in, it works.
To generate it yourself:
Download and extract the LiveDive xrnx file.
Open https://lua-bytecode.github.io/
Load file gui.lua - you’ll see the bytecode
On the right there’s a dropdown for “convert to another EnBr” - select L4808 (x64 default)
This will download a luac file to your downloads directory.
Replace gui.lua with this file, keeping the name as gui.lua.
Repeat the process for main.lua.
I’ve done a quick test with this and it looks like it works no problem.
I’ve also attached a version of the xrnx file here.
de.cie-online.LiveDive.xrnx (29.4 KB)
If anyone has the Launchpad version of this, the same process will likely work no problem.

Anyone know how to convert Noisetrekker 2 songs?
Hi,
This is probably never gonna get an answer, but I have to try.
I must be one of the very few here that have made loads of music with the Noisetrekker 2 freeware on a budget laptop (oh yeah, and after years of working with Oktalyzer V1.1 and V1.54 on an Amiga 500). All of these tracks are neatly stored onto a hard drive (taking up about 20Gb), including my own synths and stuff, and I would like to be able to ‘revive’ these tracks. But I’m struggling to find a way to do so.
As far as I understand, there are only two ways:
- Either find an old computer on which Noisetrekker 2 still runs (I have a copy of the original .exe), and render all tracks separately. Huge job, and in the end I can only manipulate the renders;
- Or - if I understand correctly - it’s possible to convert .ntk tracks with Renoise 1.1.1, but only if one first converts these with Noisetrekker 3.2.2. But I can’t find a download for that last one. And I’m wondering what gets lost into all of these conversions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

New stuff made in ProTracker
Another album of stuff I made in the Amiga ProTracker clone for Windows.
All samples tweaked and edited in Renoise, as usual!

Who in here makes Glitch Hop?
I know a lot us make Jungle, IDM and other spastic genres of music. Today I wanted to know if anyone here makes Glitch Hop (or just Glitch music in general) or Blip Hop.
For the record:
I’m NOT talking about the EDM Glitch Hop (Pretty Lights, Mr. Bill etc) because that’s mostly just Dubstep (nothing against Dubstep). I’m talking about the actual mesh Hop Hop/Pop Music and Glitchy Blip style production.
If so, I wanna hear your records.

Just wanted to vent
the trend of people recording music and then pretending it’s a mysterious reissue of an obscure new age or home recorded primitive electronics cassette and putting a fake 80’s date of release on it… why?
also, oberheim matrix 6 on sale for $1300? the piece is a menu diving nightmare of buzzkill tedium. the synth was manufactured after the company was sold to a management firm in the 80’s and made as a low cost, consumer grade quick cash in on the brand name. again, no …

Recording Samples into Renoise using Pipewire
I am interested in recording samples from my browser into Renoise. I know this is possible, although i can’t find any information online to help me get it setup. Is an Application like WirePlumber or Qjackctl necessary? Anyone willing to help me out a bit?

A question about sample import and velocity/keyzone assignment
I’ve been wanting to have FM synthesis in Renoise, and I have a way to do this with single-cycle waveforms.
Using an online tool, I was able to export a set of single-cycle waveforms that gradually increases it’s frequency modulation, going from pure sine wave to modulated sine wave. I have 100 single-cycle waveforms.
Is there a way to assign each single-cycle waveform its own velocity in an automated way?
I did this with 20 waveforms today, a rudimentary version of what I’m describing above. I assigned 20 samples to the same instrument, they’re each given a different velocity keyzone (instead of pitch). In this way, I can emulate frequency modulation by assigning a velocity range, and then typing that velocity in, in the pattern. Like so:
Kind of similar to adjusting filter cutoff via the FX column.
Now, is there a way where I could drag 'n drop samples into the keyzone area, and have each one of them only take up one value, instead of 5 values (see first picture for example)? The first sample is taking up velocity values from 0 - 5, the next sample is taking up velocity values from 6 - 0A, and so on.
I was able to get a finer set of samples exported that are more gradual in FM nature, hoping to make each sample only take up a single velocity value, from 0 - 1, 1 - 2, 2 - 3, and so forth.
Do we have a tool that will do that for us, or a method that I might be missing? Otherwise, I’ll probably be spending an hour doing this repetitively by hand.

Ringing in effect chains (audio engineering)
Hi everyone,
first post here
So… I’ve been using Renoise for quite some time and there’s this one thing that slows down my own process quite a bit. I would really like to find a good solution for it… Perhaps some of you already might know a way that I simply just haven’t come across yet.
As the title says, I’ve been struggling with how to deal with ringing that is coming from the effect chains. Meaning that there is one or more pure sine waves (that should not be there) sounding through very loudly. Naturally this is not a Renoise specific problem but simply an audio engineering thing, and generally I suppose these things are also handled in the post processing.
The ringing is very specific to individual notes (different frequencies ringing in different notes), so in my mind it should be possible to combat the issue during playing of the notes rather than having to spend a lot of time on it in manual post processing. I tried to do this by using key trackers to try and see if a note is being played and only enabling a filter to cut out the specific frequency that is ringing. Key trackers however do not fit this purpose very well as e.g. chords will then mess it up. For this I’d need a key tracker that could simply detect if a note is either on or off and control a set of filters accordingly (combined into a doofer).
It occurred to me that I probably could work around this issue by having each note use its own sample and all samples would then have their own DSP chain in the instrument effects, but this would really blow up my instruments. They would eat up a lot of memory so for me this is not the preferred way.
Tried also looking at the lua scripting side, but initially it seemed to me that the scripts are not intended to be run during playback but rather from user interactions. Also looked like there is no access to the instrument device chains from the scrips, however I didn’t spend too much time on this. Could there be some way via scripting?
Is there some other way that I might have missed?
To visualise the problem I added two screenshots of the spectogram. There’s loud ringing at 580 Hz observable in one and filtered out (Chebyshev 4n) in the other.
Cheers,
-sly

Trying to figure out how to make the Bitwig Micromanager in Renoise
Tried working with decay and transients, but I’m just not ‘getting it’. Anybody have a suggestion? I don’t make micro-house, but I can see something like this being used on most any type of loop to get pretty glitches or rhythmic patterns.

An idea for a feedback effect in Renoise & Redux that’s similar to what’s possible in electric guitar effects chains, taking inspiration from existing devices like the Delay, Send & Repeater.

Adjust monitor volume
Can you adjust monitor volume in Renoise without affecting tracks volume?
Reason:
My UAD Apollo hardware knob is broken and unusable.
Yes, I can control the monitor volume with digital console via desktop.
But, I can’t control headphones volume.
80% I use headphones.
thanks in advance for the help.
