Mountainbiking with William Basinski
Hi!
When I filmed this in mars I had William Basinski in my headphones, the disintegration loops, the time when he used only one loop and had it spin for hours. The life and death of a melody. Guess I was inspired and made some “one loop only” tracks. Well duplicated, chopped, played reversed and what not. Enjoy!

Set what line has the highlighted beat
when setting the lines per beat to play a triplet it often causes the highlighted beat to be offset after its over, is there a way to tell it to align as “every xth line from y” instead of just “every xth line from 00” when i change the lines per beat midway through a pattern

AwesomeWM floating windows config
Just wanted to share a quick tip for those who use Awesome (a tiling window manager for Linux/Xorg). To avoid issues with floating windows like dialogs, modals, etc, add the following settings in your rc.lua in the awful.rules.rules section:
{ rule = { class = "Renoise" }, properties = { titlebars_enabled = false, placement = awful.placement.no_offscreen } }, { rule = { class = "Renoise Plugin Server" }, properties = { titlebars_enabled = true } },1 post - 1 participant

RenoiseGPT - a tool based on ChatGPT for generating renoise tools/scripts
Hopefully coming someday soon to you… RenoiseGPT!
I’ve attached a collection of a few of the tools generated so far purely with ChatGPT. I’m looking to see if it works for real-world requests (along with doing a heck of a lot of debugging so that it can all exist in a single renoise tool), so if you’re interested in (once again) contributing to RENOISE SCIENCE, post a tool you’d like to exist and I’ll see if I can make RenoiseGPT create it!
Also, LMK if you’re interested in contributing!

New compo with interesting criteria
You can create a production in any sub-genre of “Electronic Music”. Doesn’t matter if it’s Techno, Trance, Electronica, Chiptunes, Synthwave, Drum and Bass, Electro-Industrial / Electronic Body Music, Ambient Electronic, Chill-Out/Lo-Fi, etc. As long as you make music, and have a great time while doing so. My only request is, that you focus more on “electronic instruments”. Meaning: maybe check out a synthesizer you haven’t used before.

What is the function for MIDI Clock Sync?
Hi, I hope I am in the right category for my matter!!
I am currently trying to add my very own MIDI Mapping to the GlobalMidiActions.lua file for toggling MIDI Clock Sync, as it is not midi mappable inside of Renoise.
If you are not familiar about it: this feacture syncs Renoise (as a MIDI slave), to the MIDI master.
Here is what I am talking about: File:3.2 transportpanel-midislaveclock.png - Renoise User Manual
My idea is to activate the feature on a midi controller during a live session to sync both Renoise instances.
Then I would deactivate the feature and fix the BPM with something like an endless encoder.
I really do hope this feature is possible with some LUA coding, as it would it heavily extend Renoise for live performance.

Disabling current sequence from the pattern editor
Hi
Is there a shortcut to disable the current track in the current pattern?
just like how you would in the sequence matrix with alt-click or Enter. but from the pattern editor.

Support for routing audio to instrument plugins
I feel like I should create a formal feature request about this, motivated by e.g. Arturia Vocoder V in Renoise?
We nowadays have effect plugin sidechaining in Renoise, but it should be possible to send audio from tracks to instruments as well. There are several plugins (such as the aforementioned Vocoder from Arturia) that rely on this functionality, and VST3 itself is fully orthogonal in this regard isn’t it (for plugins having support for sidechains regardless whether they are effects or instruments)?

Renoise backstage xrni links have been unabailable to download for a while
These are useful to get the most out of renoise, but I had to redownload them recently and it seems they’re offline. The server works for a while before just handing you back to the backstage page. Tried on a few browsers / configs. Suggestions here?

Anthony parks - polygonal hex shading
my first experiments in renoise after using ableton for 10+ years. there is no going back for me when it comes to sequencing. i might create samples or do linear recording in ableton but for patterns and arrangement with samples renoise is untouchable. as a professional programmer i so appreciate all the keyboard friendliness. huge fan.

Signal Follower to EQ - Responsive?
I was thinking about this a couple of days ago - could the Signal Follower be attached to an EQ, and create a ‘responsive EQ’ strip. Well, it turns out it can. I only just connected to one channel so far, so I am dropping this as a template, and am open to suggestion - maybe there’s a better method?

Midi note range ..why 120 and not 127
Why does renoise only have 10 octaves ( 120 midi notes ) and not >10 octaves for 127 midi notes ?

Plugin: Sliding notes using a synth plugin VSTi
I have been using Renoise preferentially for over a decade but this has always eludied me.
Is there any way I can get a note to slide to using a synth? It seems to be made really difficult, whereas in other programs its a “slide to” in the piano roll (what is the effect command? Is there one?) Is it really obvious?
I’ve put this in beginner’s questions because probably, I’ve missed it from the beginning.
G to G# - G3 to G4 - how do I just get it to slide? Plugin mode - not as a sample.

Valuefield problem
Hello,
How do I solve the problem with ‘valuefield’.
I have a minimum value of 0.001 and a maximum of math.huge.
If I enter the wrong value (enter text), the field is corrected as expected.
I have a problem, I try to enter a smaller value. It throws an error.
Any idea ?
Thanks.
Is this rounding error ?

Using Renoise as a midi sampler?
Hi,
A silly question, is it possible to use renoise as a midi sampler, and “inject” midi into my good old amiga with octamed soundstudio ?
thanks

Scripting: API for listing & invoking actions (key bindings)
It’d be nice to have a scripting functionality to run an action via the scripting LUA API.
When I’m saying “action”, I mean what is mappable from the “Preferences > Keys”.
There are 2 attempts for implementing a command palette:
Which are trying to implement something like a “command palette” but both are limited because of the API.
What I also find counter intuitive, is that renoise.tool():has_keybinding("Pattern Editor:Navigation:Move to Next Row") will return false, even though the actions exists & the down arrow executes this command. It seems that the scope of the API methods of renoise.tool() is only about custom script actions?
Proposal:
A way to iterate and invoke actions: renoise.tool().actions() (or key_bindings following the current naming schema) to return an array of actions.
Each entry could have the fields name, invoke, and key. The name and invoke share the same meaning with the renoise.tool():add_keybinding. The key is the bound key that invokes this function, as seen also in the KeyBindings.xml
