I want to back up my sample/instrument libraries online,does anybody here have any recommendations at all?The library would be quite big,I’m not sure of the exact size though.

So I’m making some hip-hop beats for a friend, which was incredibly fun. Renoise is this shit when it comes to sample-based music.

However, once I got done recording their vocals into Renoise, I realized that it’s not as easy as it is in normal DAWs, because I can’t easily move things around and quickly chop and reorder parts of a 6 minutes recording.

I can think of a couple of ways around this:

1. Purchase Redux, export every instrument intro an xrni file and load it into Redux in another DAW. I’m not using more than, say, 10 instruments in a beat, so this is feasible and the solution I like the most so far
2. Sync Renoise with the other DAW, so their playheads move together. Vocals are edited in the other DAW and the beat exists in Renoise, and both of them play at the same time. I can’t make it work with Ardour but I may not be trying hard enough
3. Export the beat as a plain audio file and load it into the other DAW. This one is my least favorite but may be the most comfortable

So, my friends here who regularly work with singers, what’s your workflow?

Hello!

Been trying to find what keyboard shortcut can I use on Mac to play and loop current pattern and I can’t. Manual says right ALT is the shortucut, but ALT is non existant on Mac and instead Option is used, but when pressed, it plays entire song. Is there any shortcut I can use?

Hello,

I’d like to play a multi note chord using a single sample but have each note in that chord start from a different point in the sample. I would like those start points to change every time a chord is played. Ultimately I’d like this to happen while recording and not through automation.

Does anyone know the simplest way to achieve this? Is there a tool someone created which can do this or a way within Renoise? thanks!

I’m using Drumatic 3.02 with Renoise 3.4.3 (64-bit). All other sounds are ok except the kick drum which just makes loud clipping noise (volume bars show red). Changing the preset or kick drum parameters has no effect.

Does it work for anyone else? No problems in Reaper with the plugin.

So, I really like the sound of cassette recorders and ambient music - using Ableton, I made this with cassette IR devices: Layered Lines • EP | Neuro... No Neuro

Today, I decided to give the process of cassette sounds using Convolver a go - not making a track or anything, but to give it a listen. Convolver can do it! It also has a ton of capability to add extra filtering to the sound. It’s almost a filter/EQ using such short samples (approx. 200 samples in length). Can get a nice ‘Sawako’ tape sound with Renoise if I try.

While Renoise is still a bit stiff when it comes to LFO modulation (still no random with rounded edges), there’s a nice amount of variation to be had at low amplitudes. Low fidelity in a nice way!

I would absolutely love a way to skip (disable/grey out) selected patterns in my sequence editor.

I always end up writing sequences that I’m not keen on for the current track but either want to come back to, or revisit later on in the song.

I can’t see this as being a difficult change to implement, but could we perhaps add a means of right-clicking on a sequence entry to get to an enable/disable option please?

Taking it one step further, if there were a sequence of disabled patterns then perhaps we could even implement a collapse/expand feature on the disabled patterns so they can be easily ignored when editing the pattern sequence?

e.g.

Pattern 1
Pattern 2 // Jump to pattern 5 for next pattern
Pattern 3 ## Disable this pattern
Pattern 4 ## Disable this pattern
Pattern 5
Pattern 6

Ok, you are in the pattern editor and want to do something funky.
Here is some hotkeys probably not so well-known to masses.

[ALT]+[W] - select 8 rows on all tracks
[ALT]+[Q] - gradual [sample/vol/pan/efx] selection of 8 rows in current track
[ALT]+[D] - windowed detached instrument editor [press [ALT]+[D] again to close it]
[ALT]+[S] - select all tracks above cursor
[ALT]+[X] - select all tracks below cursor
[ALT]+[F] - mixer [press [ALT]+[F] again to make it windowed and detached]

Hey all,

I have latency even with using a qwerty keyboard. I have Renoise 3.4.2 on a reasonably capable laptop. The cpu level doesn’t go silly even with lots of plugins etc.

I have tweaked a few settings from the prefs menu but I still get massive latency when just pressing a key to play a sample. There is also the same latency over midi.

I get the latency thing with your eyes possibly to do with delay or effects etc. but not just hitting notes.

I’ve tried searching and trying different things, any tips to sort this out?

• Windows 11 Pro 64bit
• Renoise 3.4.3 beta (Built: Jul 29 2023) & Renoise 3.4.2
• Preferences/Plug/Misc: Run all plugins in sandboxes (separate process) enabled
• It doesn’t matter if the window is docked or not in the Plugin tab of Renoise.
• VST2 Arturia Piano V v3.2.0.3420 (x64) & other similar Arturia plugins (as Augmented STRINGS…).

Plugins like Arturia VST2 don’t work correctly when using their dropdown lists creating instability in Renoise 3.4.3 beta. Renoise may stop responding and disappear without trace (without leaving any bug report).

1. Load the plugin.
2. Open any dropdown list from the plugin with the mouse, by single clicking.
3. Move the mouse outside of the dropdown list area.
4. Click on the Renoise window. This operation causes some strange delay, the mouse pointer icon is “thinking” and Renoise can even disappear, being dangerous to use this type of Arturia plugins in this case.

I think this problem is common with all Arturia plugins similar to Piano V v3. This problem does not happen if “Run all plugins in sandboxes” is disabled.

I think this problem also doesn’t happen if you use VST3 Arturia Plugins. This problem does not happen with other VST2 plugins from other companies either. Seems like a specific issue in Arturia VST2 and drop down lists and Renoise window foregrounding.

It’s all the same with Renoise 3.4.2, so it’s not a new problem.

There is some problem between the foreground switching of the dropdowns and the main window of Renoise, with VST2 plugins with “Run all plugins in sandboxes” enabled. Using plugin dropdowns is not stable. It would be appropriate to check if this problem does not appear in VST3.

I like to make compositions in the style of various older video games, and when I’m not working with instruments from these games, I like to make my own. To emulate the fidelity common among the samples I sometimes end up downsampling samples to sample rates below 11025hz. Renoise only has preset sample rates you can downsample to, with 11025hz being the lowest. Because of this I usually end up having to do it in Audacity, a drag on my workflow being that it’s a separate program. The whole “adjust sample properties” tab is already great but adding this in would make it undefeated in my eyes. Can’t see why it isn’t a thing to begin with. It exists in Fasttracker 2 (kinda).

Getting a fatal Crash, if loading a previously saved song that used “AudioModern Loopmix” VST3 Plugin. It workes without crashing on previous versions like 3.4.2.

I’m on Windows 11 Pro 64bit.

What sample manager do you use?

As for me, i’m trying to find better replacement for ADSR Sample Manager.

The main thing is to find relevant samples by means of tags (text input).

Any suggestions?
