How to set sample base note?
@Zyl wrote:
Renoise treats all my samples as being note C-4 when most of them are something else. How can I specify what note it actually is so when I put a note in the pattern editor the displayed note will actually match what is being played?

New Tool (3.1.1): Slice Importer v1.0 (February 2019)
@Raul wrote:
SLICE IMPORTER. What is this?
Slice Importer include a double function allows copying or pasting the slice markers of the first sample between instruments.
Remember that it is necessary to always work on the first sample! If you copy more slice markers than those allowed by the target sample, they will only be pasted to the last allowed marker.
Access: “Sample Editor/Slices/~Copy Markers… (or ~Paste Markers)”.

FX order of Txx with Oxx/Ixx pattern effect commands
@4tey wrote:
I don’t know if this is intentional in any way (or just how the commands interact), but I’ll mention it…
I’ve attached a little simple example xrns. 2 Patterns, simple sine wave sample. First pattern is with the Oxx (fade out) command first in the FX order on the left, with the Txx (tremolo) command on the right. Seems ok. Get a fade out with a tremolo. 2nd pattern I’ve swapped the order of the Oxx/Txx commands. Still get a fade out, but (as far as I can hear) no tremolo is applied. Similar replacing Oxx with Ixx
twinkle_trem.xrns (5.1 KB)
Maybe not a big thing, if that’s how it is then keep the tremolo on the right in the FX columns when using Oxx/Ixx commands.

Jump to loop start/end point
@boonier wrote:
When trying to fine tune a loop, I find myself wishing there was a key command to jump to the respective boundaries of the loop as it helps to be able to see the relative levels of the sample at each marker. Is this currently possible?

Can you save marker locations so other samples can use them?
@zooterman wrote:
This would save me so much time. Wondering if it is possible?

View modes for spectrum/scope and DSP chains
@delt wrote:
Hello again, sorry for starting a new topic for this, but i thought it would be less confusion since… well, it’s a different topic
This idea is for view modes. What would really be awesome for the spectrum/scope area is an extra view mode with two big oscilloscopes side by side.
Another would be regarding the DSP effects chain which is always confined to the bottom of the screen. It would be very useful to have a view mode where all effects of the selected track are stacked one on top of the other, taking up the entire screen. This would mean a lot less scrolling horizontally along the bottom strip where the effects are, and would allow to see many more at once. For bonus points, doofers could maybe have a collapse (same line) vs. expand (effects in it also stacked vertically, maybe indented at the left to show which are part of the doofer) …? just an idea

A few midi/routing enhancements
@delt wrote:
Hello everyone, it’s been a while since i posted here! Just posting my suggestion for enhancements to midi in Renoise. Hopefully this will be added to List of feature suggestions for Renoise
First one is more for hosting plugins for live performance rather than tracking or sequencing, but here goes… it would be really nice if the same instrument could receive on more than one midi channel, for example if i have several keyboards, sounds or whatever, each on its own midi channel, but i want the same pad layered on all of them. Currently i have to duplicate my pad instrument for each channel i need, and then it’s a pita to change selections on all of them, or delete and re-duplicate etc.
The second is more for tracking, i’ve mentioned it before i believe - it would be nice if the same notes in the pattern editor could trigger more than one instrument at once, instead of having to duplicate the track and change instruments. The advantages of this are pretty obvious =) I think you can probably use some weird midi-mapping trickery to achieve this, but anyway… plus you’d still be stuck in certain situations for ex. when a track changes between different instruments, and so on.
Off the top of my head that’s it for now, aside from the other feature requests i mentioned before, like toggle sharp/flat view mode, relative tempo changes with ZTxx, and the ability to map “,” and “.” to commands instead of C and D notes (they’re duplicates of Q and W anyway) and put back the ability to have the same sample in different zones of an instrument like before.

Attachments Missing
@The_Bard_sRc wrote:
I was trying to follow an old thread yesterday to try and figure out how to do something (Waveform Crossfading in this case) and couldn’t figure out what I was missing trying to understand it. I ended up looking at a cached copy of the thread to see if something changed, and found out that it used to have attachments before the forum change and they’re not there anymore. Are old attachments on this and other threads going to be restored eventually, or are they just gone?

I’m trying to do the most simplest edit on more than one note - lower multiple notes’ volumes at once.
How can one edit more than one note at once in Renoise phrase editor?

Hunz - Live streaming the making of an album in Renoise
@hunz wrote:
Hello,
It’s been awhile since I’ve even posted in these forums OwO. 10 years ago I did the RPM Challenge which yielded the song “Soon, Soon” that was included in every download of renoise (thank you devs!)
If anyone is interested in how I write music from scratch and what is involved - I’m live streaming every day for the month of Feb doing the RPM Challenge for 2019. Drop in and say hello and ask questions!
Thank you everyone!

Couldn´t you basically flip the track editor, so to get more of a “pianoroll”/analog sequencer editor?

The old arpeggio could be converted into chords, with one filter. Filterboxes are popular for this!

Some new 5/4 untz untz
@Denim wrote:
A new techno track I recently finished is premiered here in the latest edition of the norwegian LYD podcast, at around 1:00:08 (just click the link to jump there). Good show, check it out
Made with Renoise + some hardware. Pretty happy with it, and always both fun and a bit challenging to make those 5/4 bars work well in techno. Guess it’s a bitch to beatmix, so might have to add in some straight intro beats there, we’ll see…

Defaulting the automation to "Linear" instead of "Points"
@jugger wrote:
Whenever recording automation using Instr. MIDI Control, it creates points which I then have to manually change to linear for each recorded lane.
Is there any way to default the automation to be always linear or curve?

High CPU usage in Redux - Bug
@Entropy wrote:
There is an issue in Redux that really annoys me, and it is that over a period of time Redux will increase the amount of CPU it consumes. I use Bitwig studio, and if this turns out not to be a Redux bug, but in fact some sort of a Bitwig bug, then I will take this up with the Bitwig devs, but it only happens on Redux, so I assume it is Redux that is the issue.
- Add Redux as instrument.
- Load some sample into Waveform (I used noise).
- Assign some macros to some parameters (I used volume, pan, and Digital Filter cutoff).
- Close the Redux GUI.
- Modulate the Redux macros from within Bitwig (I used some manual automation and some LFO).
- Add a clip in Bitwig that plays a Redux note.
- Loop it (in Bitwig).
- Play (in Bitwig).
Redux will start off fine, playing nicely, but go and have a cup of coffee. Seriously, it may take up to 20 minutes, but over that time the amount of CPU Redux consumes will sloooooowly creep up, until finally Redux will be using 100% of a core and will click, pop and distort like no tomorrow. However! Here’s the kicker: Once you’ve got it to click and pop like no tomorrow, the CPU will immediately return to normal (low, maybe 5%) as soon as you open the Redux GUI. Go ahead, press the GUI button when you get it to click and pop.
I’ve uploaded my project file that contains the automated Redux instance. It’s all done for you, just open the project and hit play. It’ll loop away, and all you have to do is wait.

GMKit - Nano (samples in separate tracks not showing in Mixer)
@rainydayshirts wrote:
Description:
When using the “GMKit - Nano” XRNI that comes with Renoise, samples triggered in separate tracks (Kick in one track, snare in another track, etc) do not appear to show up in the Mixer. I am curious as to why this is.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open Renoise
- Load the “GMKit - Nano” XRNI into an instrument slot
- Set Phrases from “Prg” to “Off”
- Input a note to trigger a sample in one track (i.e. Kick - C3 in Track 1 on line 00)
- Input a note to trigger a sample in another track (i.e. Snare - E3 in Track 2 on line 08)
- Switch to the Mixer
Expected Results:
The Mixer meter for each track containing notes triggering samples will change.
Actual Results
The Mixer meters show nothing.
Extras:
See attached XRNS for a test case.groove.xrns (2.3 MB)
