Trailer whoosh hit - trigger sample
@Garth_Knight wrote:
Hi haven’t posted in ages but was wondering the best way to trigger an epic drum hit sample that has a ‘Whoosh’ just before the transient of the hit ? I need the transient to be on the grid obviously but the whoosh to play just before it.
If I trigger the sample normally it plays too late as it will obviously play the whoosh part first , but how to get it to play in time?
Thanks in advance.

No sound with ASIO4all
@kjseara wrote:
Hey all,
So after some much troubleshooting with using ASIO4all to get less latency with a guitar into my USB audio interface, I realize finally why I am getting no sound. The Master track is routing back to my audio interface. The audio interface is the only option to choose from the drop down menu in Master routing when I choose ASIO in preferences. Going back to DirectSound I hear everything properly, but it goes back to around 10-15 milliseconds of latency - no good.
If there a way to prevent the Master track from routing to my audio interface? Obviously not getting any sound from there. It needs to be set to Primary Sound Device, I suppose.

Recorded sample Numbers
@midierror wrote:
This is a very specific problem. I’m rendering a tonne of audio, and I’d like the recorded sample numbers to reflect the pattern, using render to sample.
I’ve just started a new project and its carrying on the recorded sample numbers from my last session (Recorded Sample 135)
Is there a way to reset this back to 1 ??

DIVA / Renoise / Linux - Clipping Noise
@lilith wrote:
Hi,
I’m having a problem with DIVA and I’m curious if anyone else ran into the same issue.
I’m using Debian / Stretch with Renoise (v 3.1.1) and DIVA from the U-he website. Today DIVA generated a clipping burst of noise when playing around with the Juno 60 preset. It happened already two times. The project is completely empty with only one DIVA instance and the issue is not related to the sound server Jack.
I didn’t test other DAWs like REAPER at the moment.
Is it possible that installed Tools can be responsible for such a behaviour. I also posted the question at the U-he / KVR section.

A little track by a few Renoise artists ;)

d0p3f15h - So Beat It! (Starpilot Remix)
So… this was originally done by myself in ‘Nitrotracker’ on the Nintendo DS and remixed by Duane ‘Starpilot’ in Renoise. At this time I was doing a local ‘pop up arcade’ concept show where we had lots of cutting edge showcase’s of local and not so local dev’s Works. We had displayed the Winnitron and brought in artists like Starpilot to fuck up the crowd with LSDJ live
I started a friendship with Duane (Starpilot) and made a local FM radio show some of you have even graced my airwaves - had an interview with Suva lol! (local only? Fuck that I used it to promote Renoise artists hehehehe!) called ‘Printed Circuit Radio’ on CKUW 95.9FM in Winnipeg.
It was this era I dabbled a lot in ‘Chipcore’ (man was I hated at some shows, got told off by this chick at ‘Nuit Blanche’ that my music sucks just after her b/f approached and asked what kinda music it was lol!!!) I admit it was pretty raw… but I had a lot of fun! This is a little piece of that slice of time - a colaboration with Starpilot himself! He really should get more credit then he’s had over the years - so fucking search him out and listen to it! In fact Here!

Maschine Integration (Automation and Plugin Learnng in a Single Track)
@David_Hull-Blanshard wrote:
Genhinely gone through the Maschine integration questions, this one doesnt seem to have been asked.
I can integrate maschine into renoise as an instrument, with a single note at the beginning making them both sync provided they both have similar pattern lengths but this is what I want to do:
Limit maschine to one track, or if possible, route different channels in maschine to different tracks in renoise and if I can, not need to confuse matters with a single note at the beginning ro whatever.
The issue is that I cannot reliably consider maschine a pre-fader signal so that it can be modified as an instrument (which is what I would like)
Are multiple instances of maschine necessary if I want to have different instruments in difefrent tracks?
If so, how do I prioritise the plugins and necessarily ‘switch’ with the hardware?
Most importantly, how do I automate features of maschine using renoise.
I’ve always been a bit confused about how to record automations from plugin live in renoise (don’t confuse this with being able to find a feature and automate it)
What I would like to do is press play, move things around in mashine and have renoise ‘learn’ those automations. Naturaoly I’d have conflict if those paramaters are automated in maschine, but I wouldn’t make that mistake and frankly, if it is possible it solves every issue in maschine as the automation is so… well… awful. Renoise is way better of course.
Thanks all. Please do not confuse matters with referring to Ableton, I went through all 5 other topics relating to the NI maschine and none of these were solved (i will happily confess to being an idiot if someone can explain to me how)

Juno 6-like chord hold feature?
@Bonks1 wrote:
Hi, I like to play massive old school house chords, but I’m nowhere near skilled enough to smoothly switch between 6 note chords when playing something. On the Juno 6 there’s the classic hold feature where the synth will hold the last chord played until a new one is played - can this be replicated on renoise?
I realise I could enter the chords rather than play them but then you lose the “played” feel. I could also kind of get the sound by deleting the note offs after recording them but then I’d still have to play, and it’d be pretty badly done. It would be extra great if there was a solution to this that allowed me to send these held chords to a VST. I guess the problem I forsee is that it won’t be as simple as ignoring note offs as the next chord will need to overcome the previous
Thanks!

Fabfilter Plugins
@xerxes wrote:
Howdy!
All my fabfilter plugins (and only them) will hang for 4-5 seconds before activating. The pluginwindow opens - but I can not make any adjustments. Seeing that I use Pro-Q and Pro-C extensively, this is getting a tad annoying
Anyone else experience this? Anyone got suggestions for a fix?

Glide FX Command: how to glide between separate samples?
@zooterman wrote:
(I am using Redux)
I think I have a good grasp on how the Gxx command functions. If I have a single sample/instrument I can write in individual notes or chords based off that one sample/instrument and Glide behaves exactly how I would expect it to behave.
The problem for me right now is in trying to use Gxx from one sample to another. Example: I have a Cm chord that I sampled from a synth. This is assigned to C-3. I also have an Fmaj chord sampled from the same synth, assigned to F-3.
I have included 4 ghost Samples in-between to allow for the 5-semitone jump from C to F so I can glide all the way from the Cm chord sample to the F chord sample.
So again, we have a Cm synth sample at C-3, and an Fmaj synth sample at F-3. I write the Gxx commands starting at the line where the F-3 note is written (G10, G00, G00, G00, G00).
The result: Redux successfully glides across all 5 semitones, but it only affects the original C-3 sample (which is the Cm synth chord). So it glides this chord to result in hearing Fm.
If anyone understood this, how can I get the glide to go from one sampled chord to another sampled chord by using Gxx?
-Thx.

Apple Macs Will Switch to Arm CPUs by 2020
@taktik wrote:
Tom's Hardware – 22 Feb 19 Intel Confirms Apple Macs Will Switch to Arm CPUs by 2020, Says ReportTwo different reports from this week point to Apple working on switching Macs to its own chips and allowing iOS developers to port their apps to Macs.
Great news for (consumer) iOS users. Bad news for (pro and prosumer) OSX users.
If this is true, most applications will need to be rewritten for the new ARM chipset in order to work for the new hardware. I doubt that this intended “Marzipan” thing will be performant enough for CPU sensible tasks like Audio DSP processing, so this will quite likely kill most of the prosumer apps on OSX (Audio and Video applications).
