Some rather depressing IDM/DnB Stuff thrown together with lots of noise and crappy mastering probably. And a fancy video, no one wants to watch^^

How to switch between 'ticks' and BPM in the automation envelopes
@mrblitz wrote:
It seems like, in the automation envelope editor, Renoise will randomly choose ‘ticks’ versus ‘BPM’ and vice versa. Whilst editing ‘BPM’ on ‘Mixer and Transport’, it is either a value between 0-126 (‘ticks’?), or the actual BPM. It’s not clear how to get it to stay on BPM all the time.
When it is working in values from 0-126, it’s tougher to choose the desired BPM. ymmv

I Just Can't Sing (But You Can't Judge Me For That)
@actor wrote:
This is my second Renoise song, don’t know if it’s any better than the first one. It’s different though, a kind of electronic-ironic 140 bpm fun song with a deep meaning when you take a look at the song title. And I tried to get a better sound somehow.
Here you go:
So, what do you think?

Tips to get a better sound
@raulsanchez wrote:
I have been using Renoise for a while, after some months out… I would like to know which effects do you use in Mixer (or which ones do you normally use for each concrete track) to get a great sound
This is my last recent try… the original https://soundcloud.com/raul-sanchez-42/the-ofis-haster-2019
And same piece, after some tuning (some volume adjustments for some tracks, adding Maximizer effect & disabling Global Groove / Mastering checkboxes in Mixer) https://soundcloud.com/raul-sanchez-42/the-ofis-haster-2019-v2
With this, I am using Bus Compressor (with Mastering A option selected), LADSPA DJ Eq & Maximizer (default) in Mixer
In both cases, I apply some other adjustments post Renoise, using Audacity, such as Normalize / Compress & some equalize
Any tips? Thanks!

Generative music Brian Eno way

Guys, do you have any tips on how to use this approach to generative music in Renoise ?
Are there any specific features which would allow me to do something similar ?
It would be interesting to know if you do something similar and how you do it.
Thanks

Back to the Micro-Looper
@Neuro_No_Neuro wrote:
OK! So, I posted a video of a Max/MSP standalone app called “Ultomaton”, and I took a video of a particular piece of it called a Micro-Looper:
So, got really close to it using the Phrases section to gather random sample start times. Here’s a pic (pretty small text):
Then, I crafted a random stutter device, here:
Native MicroLooper.xrdp (6.2 KB)
Now, the only thing I’m missing is an automatable volume envelope. Here’s the envelope I’ve got:
As you can see, it’s nice and tight, about 20ms. What I’d like to know how to do is this - make that envelope expand and contract via a random LFO.
OR
Find a way to implement something like that in some part of the track via some command in the pattern device somewhere. Ideally, it would be able to be done with an LFO.
Is there any way to have the volume envelope look like something in the initial video - you can see the sample selection being adjusted at random - some are small, some are large - watch for the shifting green portion on the Micro-Looper section in the video.
This would be just spectacular if there is some way to achieve this!
Thank you!

Move the cursor instead of scrolling the pattern
@natraj wrote:
Hi devs,
I would love to have the option of a different way editing and scrolling is done.
At the moment, the cursor is always in the middle of the screen. When you move up or down, the whole pattern is scrolling up or down. This may be good when dealing with large patterns - but 64 lines do fit perfectly fine on my screen even with big font size, is is unnecessary to scroll at all.
It would be really a convenience if I could lock the screen, and just move the cursor around. Would be way easier on the eyes, the moving parts only be the song position and cursor, you would have always the whole pattern in view.

How to convert SQ80 and ESQ1 waveROM from .bin to .wav?
@brinemeister wrote:
I want to cut up the SQ80 and ESQ1 waveROMs into single cyle waveforms.
Someone did the Monowave and the first of the SQ80 waveROMs already here:
There are another 3 SQ80 waveROMs and 2 ESQ1 waveROMs to be chopped into single cycles on this website (under ‘SQ80 waveforms’ and ‘ESQ1 waveforms’):
http://www.buchty.net/ensoniq/
These should be great single cycle packs to build custom synths from in renoise but I cant get the .bin (which are contained in the .zip downloads) converted into .wav.
How can I do this? I have tried converting them to .iso and mounting a virtual drive. It doesnt work. I have tried several .bin to .wav converters online. They dont work. Any idea how I can convert these .bin waveROMs to .wav successfully? Then I can start chopping them up into single cycles, finally I can put links to download the single cycles on renoise forum when Im finished

Rendered track contains sound from end of song?
@t35513r wrote:
Hoping this is legit a “beginner’s” question and something more complicated is not going on. Sometimes when I render a song, I hear what sounds like bits from the end of the song playing at the beginning. Like, maybe if there is a reverb or whatnot on the last few notes it seems to “echo” into the beginning of the song too?
Anyone else experience this? Any advice?

Apreggiator /Sequencer
@ArturRembe wrote:
The only thing i miss in renoise ist the apreggiator in the effect channel.
A typical apreggiator with octaves 1-4 up /down /up-down/ random and “user” to type noten in 64?! Steps.
I would say, this should be possible.
