Selecting an External Editor Window means the same thing as Selecting the Device
Hi, I’d like it so that if I have, say, 5 External Editor Windows open for 5 different Track DSP Devices (or Sample FX Devices), that selecting an External Editor Window for a specific Device also selects the device itself.
That’d be pretty neat!

Moon Echo Plugins - Echo from the Moon
Moon Echo is a free delay based on a communications technique that uses our closest cosmic neighbor, the moon, as a reflector for radio waves.
Price: €0
Moon Echo is a free to download delay based on a communications technique that uses our closest cosmic neighbor, the moon, as a reflector for radio waves. This results in some rather crunchy and lively echoes, modulated by the movement of Earth and moon. The moon’s surface is an imperfect mirror and creates artifacts, unlike any other echo technique. Moon Echo is both a musical lo-fi effect and a playful tool for teaching about space.
Moon Echo is available for MAC, PC, and LINUX (VST, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP, 64-bit only), and also as AUv3 and Standalone
We Used the Moon as an Echo (And Made It Into a Free Plugin)

Drag track scope up and down to adjust volume, drag left and right to adjust panning
This is idea to speed up mixing.
I don’t think any additional UI is needed. We can judge by ear, and if we want to see that, we can just show the mixer view.
Also, if the track scope could be focused on the track in the pattern editor view or mixer view when touched with the mouse, the Panning and volume sliders could be displayed. This alone would be a feature that would be useful if implemented.
I think the feel of the operation will be quite enjoyable.
What do you think?

Setting Default Values for Sample Properties
When loading samples, it is not possible to set default values for Sample Properties, so, for example, Beatsync and Loop cannot be enabled.
This is very cumbersome when working with a large number of sample loops.
Ctrl+double-click on a sample file in the Disk Browser to open the “Audio file Import Options” dialog.
For example, it would be useful if this dialog could be used to set default values for the following Sample Properties.
The UI should be the same as that implemented in Sample Properties.
- Beatsync
- Mode
- Trigger
- Loop
- Mute Group
- NNA
- Playback
- Interpola

The Ashbrooke Hermit - Living In Retreat EP
Alreet there…
I’ve just finished a new EP. It’s a project that grew out of the song I entered for the last Trackercorps compilation back in December. Probably should have finished it two or three months ago but I got distracted by an animation project in Blender. Still, that did at least provide me with cover art for this EP.
Anyway, it’s 7 tracks, about 31 mins in total. Mostly breaks, fairly melodic in places. I’m pretty happy with it. I’d be interested to see what people make of it.

Looking for new laptop
Hello everyone.
I looking for new laptop. Watch in 17 inch displays direction. Some USB ports and card reader as well.
This is for basic tasks like text typing, Renoise using and editing video, like cut - glue some pieces of video.
My question is: did someone use this one:
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17IAU7
What about screen brightness?

Configurability so that ESC does not shut down Sample Recorder during recording(!)
i’ve lost so many recordings by pressing esc to toggle edit_mode = on → there it is, sample gone.
any chance we could decide which shortcut closes the dialog?

Overriding Renoise shortcuts while on a lua dialog?
Is it possible to make certain shortcuts available while a LUA dialog is open? i.e. set up specific shortcuts that, while bound to Pattern Editor or Mixer, do those things, but while a LUA dialog is open, then the shortcut does something completely different?

Copy paste instantaniously into one a another
Hi
I need two instances open of Renoise one for sample edit and the other instance for editing the song
that becaus i have hard times with very long samples and the way i use it right now saves me lots of time but below suggested the job gets even done realy Fast And The Furious
i can copy from one instance from the track edititor and paste into other instance but not from sampler to sampler can you please fix that on mac updates that workflow is super fast instead saving to the drive first and loading it into the other sampler… i not understand why not possible on Mac OS
Much appreciate that update.
Kind Regards
good day!

Scripting Editor should show all files and all folders
- if you have a .XRNI in a folder inside a tool, it is not shown. it should be. in fact, show all files! what is this filtering that we have no control over?
- if the folder in the Tools folder does not have correct .xrnx extension at the end of the folder, highlight that that is what’s going on - and that’s why it can’t be loaded/run. or something.
alternatively if 2 is frowned upon, then:
- show .xrnx here:

Renoise native Convolver issues?
I love using IR’s but i noticed when using IR’s within renoises Convolver the quality is really abysmal - the sound is nasty and thin when compared to other IR loaders. Is this some bug?
Would be nice if there was an updated convolver device that is full high quality. In this age with the fast cpu’s i think a HQ native convolver would be a must have imho.
It sounds like there’s a ton of aliasing noise added to everything i put through it.
I compare it with Fog Convolver 2 or the native Bitwig convolver device and there is none of that noise added - it sounds pristine in there.
Here a screenshot of a sample going through a reverb in convolver. Notice all that high end aliasing that is added.
Here the same thing going through Fog Convolver 2. Nothing of aliasing added whatsoever.

Midi CC Latency - Digitakt USB to Midi
Hello,
First of all, I’m very grateful for any help, trying to figure this out before I buy the full version.
Set-up:
PC - I7 Dell laptop, 8Gs RAM, CPU load doesn’t budge from 3-4%
Digitakt connected by Midi USB → sound out to speakers
No audio processing through Renoise - solely using it as a sequencer and for CC control
Still on the Demo version - using DirectSound, but as mentioned, no audio processing going on in Renoise
Have set up a Instr Midi Control FX for the CCs
Problem:
When sending a fast chain of Note + Midi CC commands (in this case, 1/8th Notes at 155bpm), the Midi CC applies incredibly late - I have to set the Midi command a whole two steps early to get it to apply to the right note.
I can understand setting the Command a line early, as in the Midi screen you can see that note events are sent before CCs, but even a line above isn’t enough - it is still applied one note late.
The problem goes away if I run the sequencer at half speed.
Questions:
Firstly, is this something asio will fix? As I’ve mentioned, there’s no audio being processed by Renoise, and so I fail to see how reduced audio buffer size is going to improve Midi latency when I can’t even pair Note triggers with CC commands: then again, I’m no expert.
Secondly, is there a way, for convenience, to specify a Midi CC command and have it apply to the same step, despite Note events being apparently sent before CC’s?
If I can’t fix this, I’m not going to o be using Renoise, which is a shame because I really like tracker workflows…
Cheers.

Tips on making 80s corporate training music?
I’m new to renoise, but seem to be getting the hang of it pretty quickly. I’ve composed a few synthwave tracks on the Pico-8 tracker and I’m looking to make things that are more complex, specifically 80s corporate music that you’d find on old training videos by the likes of John Manchester. I’m obsessed with this kind of music, I love to hate it, and I want to live long enough to see myself become the villain.
Here’s a few iconic tracks:
Power Thrust - YouTube
Zenith - YouTube
I have a feeling that music like this can be made with just the built-ins, because synthesizers were so much simpler then. Anyone got any tips on sensibilities, recommended instruments, recommended process for learning this style, or anything like that? Thanks!

Can't get out of maximized window (OSX)
Window functions seem to be somewhat broken or at least don’t work like other applications on OSX.
I dragged the Renoise window from the notebook screen to my large monitor but could not resize it with double klick on the title bar or pulling the edges (weird). So I maximized it. Now there is no way to un-maximize it (weird again). There is no green button, etc. How can I un-maximize it but still use the full screen real-estate?

How to reset the Stepper in Instrument modulation section - at the beginning of each bar?
How can i correctly reset the Stepper in instrument modulation at the beginning of each bar in the most simple way? So the first note starts the first step in the stepper.
I connected it to a macro, but when turning that macro it doesn’t reset to the first step on the stepper at the beginning of each bar or at a note of choosing. Must be overlooking something.
Thank you.

How to catch pressing [X] to closing of LUA Dialog?
hi, i’m working on a shortcut that shows or hides a dialog. but i notice that if i click on the [X] at the top left corner, nothing happens. i.e. the “dialog has been closed” feature of my dialog is not shot.
how does one detect that [X] has been clicked on, dialog has been closed, and then revert to “dialog is not open”, so that the next time you run the shortcut, the dialog is opened? currently if i click on [X] to close, i need to run the shortcut two times - which means that on the first run, it seems the feature is broken.
I have this almost transparent, except for the [X]. any ideas?
