Idea: Being able to define Loop Zones in the Pattern Editor, so whatever notes get put in there, are automatically looped down to the rest of the pattern sort of like a always on CTRL+C - CTRL+P of a selection.

I know you can do this (sort of) with the Patterns of the sampler device, but I like seing all the notes in the Editor.

Hi,

Today I happened to search Renoise on Matrix and found that there are some chat rooms about it.
Official chat seems to be on espernet #renoise though.

I am a oldschool IRC fan, but it is not easy enough for majority of modern users. Also closed silos like Discord should be avoided. Thanks for not using it. Matrix is the spiritual successor for IRC and it would be a great place to migrate Renoise chat into.

My suggestion is:

1. Add link to Matrix space to the official Chat page on renoise.com.
2. Add bridge between main Renoise room on Matrix and the existing IRC channel.

This way anyone who wants to keep using IRC can do so without interruption. Those who wish to join via Matrix can do it. I’m willing to give admin rights to anyone who can prove that they are Renoise staff. I can
also handle the IRC bridging with bridge provided by Finnish hackerspaces association.

Hi,

this is my setup:

Renoise 64Bit - V3.3.2 (Built: Mar 7 2021)

Instruments d16 Nepheton and TAL-MOD

The song contains 7 patterns and six tracks … in pattern 2 to 6 I set the gloval command ZBxx to get an fractured rythm … pattern 7 is empty. Everything works fine. When trying to rendert he final song the rendering does not stop at the last line oft he 7th pattern but instead continues rendering from the start in pattern1 up to pattern 3 again. To get the song I have manually delete the additional rendered patterns. I tried ZT00 and ZL00 in the last üattern to stop the rendering … without any success.

Question: Is there any exit command to stop the rendering at the last pattern?

I have a Beatstep Pro controller/sequencer running as my MIDI Master and I can’t quite figure out how to prevent the midi from being played on all my instruments.

I’ve attempted to go into my instrument and setting the Input Device to my Arturia Keystep and setting the channel to 15 under the MIDI tab. However, my MIDI Master continues to play on that instrument regardless.

I have tried to turn off all the checkboxes on Record & Play filter but no effect.

What am I missing here?

I hadn’t used Jack with MacOS in a while, but I think I remember it being there. I tried going back through the release notes to see when support was removed - couldn’t find anything in the 3.x release notes, but there’s a post from last year about the Jack sync option missing where the author says they set up 20 channels to be shared with Bitwig. However, I can’t find any option for Jack in my audio prefs.

Will it be re-added at some point?

MacOS 11.6.1, Renoise 3.3.2 Jack 1.9.19.

Hi all, hope you are well.

I have a 2003 laptop that has Windows Vista (yikes) on it and I have attempted to install Renoise but no joy, the PC also does not have an internet connection.

Is there another Tracker out there that is known to function on basic PCs and has similarities to Renoise, some VST support maybe?

Or is it time for me to dig out FT2 and get all nostalgic?

Problem:
When using pen display and adjusting doofers there is not much space to the bottom for lowering knob value.

Suggestion:
When Mouse Warp Setting is OFF use horizontal axis. (or use settings switch?)
Its not ideal because when knob is in the corner of the screen we have the same problem, but at least you can scroll dsp chain to fix that. In current situation you always don’t have much vertical down space.

Example:

• White Arrows
  knob one no problem if you want to max value - plenty of vertical up space
  knob two you need to click and drag three times to get to min value
• Green Arrows
  using horizontal axis gives me plenty space to go from max to min and vice versa
  (not ideal if the knob is in the corner but i can scroll dsp chain)

Hello everyone, today I’m posting this track that I began working on last week, and talking about what I was trying to do with the style and production of this song.

So I was really trying to create more of a dream like state with this song, or just “what having a dream sounds like in my head” I used Tal Sampler for all of the melodic and harmonic elements of the song, and then another 4 channels for audio/samples. So 4 vst channels and 4 audio channels basically.

I don’t know if I succeeded in what I was trying to do, but I thought it was interesting enough that the person reading this would want to check it out. I’m currently away from my home, so when I get back, I’ll be sure to post the xrni file and stems here in case anyone wanted to take something from this project.

So that’s pretty much all I got for now, I like using Tal Sampler a lot, even though my laptop clearly cannot handle it. So I would like to try to incorporate more of the sound on this track into more of my other songs.

Thank you for giving it a listen as always. If there’s any feedback about composition, mixing, a particular section or something else, feel free to speak your mind.

I love old tracker scene from around 1998. I love Renoise’s vivid effects. I have been captivated by this great program since Renoise 1.5. Now, I just quested for a little stimulus.

MPC 2 Software using without any MPC hardware is so cool for me. I can get enough Pianoroll editor and VST wrapper in Renoise. Why need wrapper? If don’t handle VST via Renoise host, fast startup if already MPC knows my VSTs in it. If I use Logic Pro (AU plugins), I can use VST from MPC and of course Renoise Redux. Sweet! It’s a bit complicated situation and interesting. And of course loop overdubbing MIDI recording with Pianoroll can use in everywhere. This environment is my current favorite. Maybe NI Maschine is simillar but I don’t have it yet. I would like to buy it cheaply as a single piece of software that has no hardware or library at all. (But, I received a reply from NI support that it is currently impossible to purchase Maschine 2 software separately without hardware.) …MPC win!

Share your xml, please

I’ve been roaming through the forum for a while but have only found this thread Shortcut Keys, where I see the link I need, though the link is,unfortunately, dead. Remapping the whole bunch of missing shortcuts is not an option for me (there’s just waay too much). It’s weird there’s no any sort of default keymap for mac developed by devs, so newbies would have something to start off with.
I’m sure there’re plenty of renoise users on mac out there, who have already set their shortcuts up, so could you guys, share your configs, please?

If a plugin has parameter names that can change after initialization, those changes don’t show up in Renoise in the *Instument Automation.

I’ve ran into this while testing the closed pre-release of the VCVRack VST and due to the modular nature of Rack, the parameter names are often changing after initializing the plugin as one adds new modules and so on, yet they don’t sync up within Renoise. However, the units of parameter values come through properly, even though the names do not and automation technically works.

Another VST that is readily available and exhibits the same issue is the Surge synth where changing the names of the macro controls (or loading up another preset with differently named macros) is not reflected in the *Instrument Automation device.

Another but somewhat different example is changing the cartridge inside Dexed, where the Program selector inside the Plugin tab is not getting updated and still shows the initial list of programs.

In the case of the latter examples, the names not updating is less of an issue, but with a modular synth it is very impractical as I’m left completely clueless of what I should select to automate. I assume this issue exists with Reaktor or similar modular or more flexible VSTs as well.

Reloading the song updates the names properly but this is quite impractical.

If continuous updating is not possible for some reason, it would be nice to be able to refresh these names with a button, or have some kind of parameter select via “learn mode” where you wiggle a knob inside the VST to pick an item from the *Instrument Automation’s menu.

I am so much struggling to enter note data in a piano roll! My brain is not made for this, or I must be a super lazy person. I love to enter notes in this nice overview of the Renoise pattern context (not! the recording part though ), but I totally hate it in Bitwig. It turns into a mouse click orgy every time, afterwards my finger hurts and almost falls off the hand. And left Bitwig without entering any useful notes. No seriously, I really need some approach to overcome my painoroll hate. I would love to use bitwig and enter note data here (without any overview ), since it has it all when it comes to routing, layering, lfoing etc!

Any tips for me? Is there a tutorial video or a book I can read to get my brain straight? Thanks.

I wish Renoise pattern editor was available as a midi vst plugin…
