Can i create a table for an if situation?
hi, i’m trying to tweak my script that switches between automation and trackdsps.
i’ve just added an if clause there where it’s like “if you’re in sample editor, switch to pattern editor”.
but there are multiple middle_frame situations that would require me to switch to pattern editor, just so that the lower frame can be displayed.
they are:
now, instead of creating an if clause for all of these by hand, would it not be possible to go “if you’re in any of these ones, do x, otherwise do nothing and proceed with the script”?
i.e. “for if u r in 1…7 then do x” ? and have it be a list or an array or whatever the fancy kids call these nowadays.

Using one sidechain device for all compressors
Ok previousely in renoise 3.2 and below when using signal follower to do sidechaining , I ususally put one signal follower on the kick track , then connected it to a hydra device which then connects to all other gainers on different tracks , how to mimic such behaviour with sidechain device introduced in 3.3 ? Because I have to bring one sidechaon device for each sidechain compressor(and ofcourse hydra could not be used here)

Mapping Play/record/Stop buttons on my Native Instruments keyboard with renoise
As the title points out, any idea why I cannot map these buttons as you would do with any other midi keyboard? When I add Komplete Kontrol DAW as a midi in renoise, pressingthese buttons on my keyboard play notes and I cannot seem to map them. Any help is much appreciated…

MIDI import behavior different between 3.3.x / 3.4.x, missing simultaneous note columns
It looks like MIDI import behavior is different between 3.3.x / 3.4.x.
When importing a MIDI file that contains a channel with simultaneous notes/chords,
only one column of notes appears, and the rest of the simultaneous notes that would be in the other columns are missing,
with no additional columns created.
Two MIDI files are attached that can demonstrate what appears in the screenshot (Windows 11).
This occurs when dragging/dropping, importing from the file menu, or drag/drop directly from MIDI apps like XO, Orb, etc, also when exporting MIDI files from fruityloops or Reaper.

Renoise Tracker Pants
I used to be punk rock
Hello people,
Today my ep was released on the streaming platforms.
I heavily used renoise to make it
Ettin · Single · 2022 · 6 songs.
If you buy it on bandcamp (you can listen it there for free as many times as you want), as a bonus, you’ll find the renoise file with the “what else is there to loose” track.
Thank you

Unable to record note data from VST plug-in (Stochas -> Renoise)
I’m embarrassed to even be asking this, because it feels like something I should be able to have researched/found, but alas…
So I’m trying to use Stochas (VST plug-in) to record note data into Renoise, and I’m failing miserably. I’ve managed to successfully set up a pathway for Stochas to play an instrument, but even in record mode, Renoise never captures any note data.
If there’s someone patient enough, I’d truly appreciate a deeper understanding of how I should be setting this up. I’ve fiddled with the MIDI routing quite a bit, but I’ve yet to experience any success beyond hearing playback in real-time without any note data capture.

How to access external drive on Linux?
This is probably a dumb question and I think Im having a brain fart… Anyway, I was jamming out on my Linux box and wanted to load some samples from an external drive. Normally on my windows machine it’s just listed right there. On Linux, however Im having trouble accessing it, so yeah how would I do that?

MIDI Mapping on Effect Parameters lost on Init preset
Hey all, I’m working with various Inst. Automation presets and controlling the parameters via MIDI Mapped inputs from a MIDI Controller, and doing this lets me quickly switch which operators I’m working on for FM Synthesis in a VSTi.
This is super convenient to help me hone in the sound I’m trying to make but if I accidentally cycle through my presets it will wrap back around to the “Init” default preset, doing this completely clears my MIDI mapping. Is there any way I can remove the Init preset from the list? Init clearing MIDI mappings seems like something I’d want as an option, especially since you cannot export DSP parameter MIDI mappings and you can already clear MIDI Mappings elsewhere!

Renoise as ReWire client to a REAPER host
Not a total noob, but struggling here, and feeling there’s something obvious I’m missing.
Setup = Windows 10 machine with Renoise64Bit V3.4.2 and REAPER64Bit v6.60
REAPER is currently the evaluation edition, Renoise is a purchased edition.
What i want to do is “simply” record the output of a track or tracks, from Renoise into a track or tracks in REAPER.
I have managed to get REAPER to act as the client (or slave) to the Renoise host (or master), but can not get it to work the other way round.
Process goes like this: start REAPER first, create new track, click on FX, attempt to add “ReWire: Renoise”
but am unable to, as the only entry in the ReWire section is ReWire: REAPER which would be creating another REAPER running as a client, not what i want - but could be interesting to experiment with.
So to recap, I want to run Renoise as a REAPER client but can not find the ReWire: Renoise “plugin”.
Is this a just REAPER issue ? or am i missing something that needs to be installed…?
Would appreciate some help.
Cheers

Resampling issues vent
I asked a question related to this last year and although the Dev gave me feedback (thank you) this is still an issue to me, and the issue is: how resampling is broken on Renoise.
The effects almost always sound weird, have phase issues or worse if I resample an audio in ANY other way that isn’t render song to disk. I have to hope the plugin I picked won’t give me a headache. What is going on? This doesn’t seem to be an issue in any other DAW that I’ve ever used, am I resampling wrong? I don’t think so, I’ve tried every workflow I could have imagined it (render track DSP chain, render sample DSP chain, render selection to sample, etc). What’s even the point of having that many options if they only work sometimes in particular conditions that aren’t even detailed in the manual?!
Should I change something in my settings? Maybe the sample rate? Maybe some weird little hidden option?
I think I’ll just have to quit resampling on Renoise, which is unfortunate.
This is honestly annoying and a bit painful because I love this tracker and use it on a daily basis but still haven’t got a way around this.

New tool: Show delay times in status bar
Just a little tool that shows various delay times in the status bar for the currently set BPM, might be handy when setting pre-delay times and such stuff.
Look for the “show Delay Times in status bar” key binding.

Randomized glitcher Doofer
So, in my never-ending quest to get some sort of granular effect with native devices going, I came up with another couple’a Doofers.
RandPan - a randomized panning device, straight up LFOs controlling a Delay with no feedback/repeats. If you want to, you can add some controls to the speed of the panning using Doofer knobs. I didn’t here, because I didn’t need to.
Click Control - One of the main things I use granular plugins for is to create randomized ticks and pops, placed VERY low in the mix. Normally, I would use a noise-source, and reduce the granular tool’s slice size to something like 1ms - 5ms. Well, we can’t do that here in Renoise (yet, anyway @taktik). So, I put my head around the issue and said - "I can make my own 1ms - 5ms tick sounds by just drawing them myself in the sampler, drawing in X individual samples.
Since I don’t have a native granular tool to slice sound, and I created these ticks, I remembered I can randomize the Repeater’s controls with LFOs. I connected a ton of LFOs to a bunch of parameters of the Repeater, placed 'em in a Doofer, added some other bunkum to give me even more control over the sound (added a Gainer to make pretend randomized velocity), and now I have a really fake granular effect that sounds pretty close to the real thing. It’s ‘good enough’. Nobody’d gonna be able to tell, except me.
Now, this doesn’t work well on melodic sounds, because the Delay makes those annoying sounds of a delay changing speed. It’s not cool. Don’t do it. Sounds like a 10-year old messing with the delay speed on a guitar pedal. Only works well on clicks. Basically, it’ll make the sound of tiny, plastic raindrops with whatever clicks you feed it. Probably works OK on tight hi-hats, maybe. Less melodic tones and there’ll be less annoying delay sounds sweeping in pitch.
So, @taktik. Please, please, please may we have some real granular Tools in this beast of a sequencer? Please? I mean it, really. I’ll pay more for it. C’mon. I’m begging now. We could really be making tons of new sounds in Renoise. Granular synthesis is not just ‘all the rage’ anymore, it’s becoming a new norm. And you make this software so well, I don’t want to use plugins. I don’t want to use another sequencer. I want to use YOUR creation(s) alone. Please? Pretty please?
Listen to this stuff - it should be on 12K or LINE or other microsound labels - much of my other Renoise stuff is already on Audiobulb.
